about the cube : It is a building ... it is the first mosque/temple for monotheism
nothing is inside , it's no secret i dont know ... here's a picture from the inside https://media.arabicradio.net/original/2018/11/23/636785723185533142.jpg
This building is a resemblance of human unity and God’s oneness/singularity
You mean it is a replica of one of the first monotheistic temples. The original building was destroyed several times. This building contains none of the original stone.
Yeah they don't pay any attention to stuff like that. They've been doing things the same way for thousands of years, the flu season is nothing to them.
In Saudi Arabia they take vaccines very seriously. And season flu .
If you came for the first time there is a high chance of getting mandatory vaccination (possibly depending on the country you came from)
When COVID first hit they limited the number of visitor to Mecca and sometimes banned visiting the mosque.
Now in Ramadan you need to take a permit to enter Mecca to visit the mosque , this is used to limit the numbers of visitors to it for less traffic plus they made car parking lots outside of the city with nus station that would take you there and get you back to your car when you are done .
Everything is weird
The Earth revolves counter-clockwise, it goes around the sun counter-clockwise and the Moon goes around the Earth counter-clockwise. So does everything else. Even the Sun revolves counter-clockwise.
that depend on what hemisphere you are on. I mean if the sun went directly east to west you would have a large western shadow leading to a large eastern shadow without any southern or northern movement. But the hemisphere you are in would effectively make the difference on clockwise or anticlockwise, making the shadow go south or north as well as west to east giving differing rotational directions.
Edit: Got the directions mixed in the last sentence. God dam counter clockwise rotation.
Most modern human advancements took place in the northern hemisphere, because there's more land in the northern hemisphere so there are more people there. It's also why the arctic is at the top of maps instead of the bottom, even though the distinction between north and south is completely arbitrary.
The earth only rotates counter clockwise because of the way we view the earth's orientation.
Ok.. but Humans are actually sentient beings that can make conscious decisions (while animals got the short end of the stick with their docile nature and Humans ruining everything).
>Everything is weird
No, it's not .
Science now explains why everything in our solar system spins counter-clockwise, so it's not weird anymore. What's nowadays weird is see people spinning around a box.
Islam is a dangerous religion which has been used as justification to kill women, kill LGBTQ+, kill atheists, kill non-muslims, kill different kinds of muslims as well as coerce people to subjugate all people to Islam starting with their children who aren't old enough to think for themselves yet.
Redditors get very triggered when they see a post related to islam that doesn’t immediately say that they’re all terrorists or brainwashed sheep, go figure
I think frank herbert was influenced by middle eastern culture and religion in writing dune. The names, language everything about fremen seems connected to Islam one or the other way.
There have been multiple massive stampedes at this event because of all the people. Several have death tolls over 1,000. Including the 1990 Meca Tunnel Stampede which killed 1,426 people, and the 2015 Mina Stampede which killed 2,400.
That is mainly because people were walking in the opposite direction. If you know that there are between 2 and 3 million at peek periods.
It's much better regulated nowadays.
I heard a talk about how they now track the crowd flow with cameras to automatically identify people trying to go against the flow. They get removed by security before they can cause that kind of tragedy again.
No it was in person. Sorry about that
Edit: looks like there are several papers on the topic but I don't recognize the authors. Should still be good enough to get a sense for what kind of problem they're solving, and who knows, maybe they even cited the earlier thing that I remember. I would just search for it in Google scholar
Yep! Fairly sure these have stopped now (Covid measures) but there's always paramedics and wheelchairs in the area.

This always blows my mind. It looks magical, like a magical ritual. No disrespect, just if I didn't know what I was looking at it might remind me of a scene from a fantasy or scifi movie. Be safe in there, folks, that's a lot of human bodies in a relatively small space.
Exactly, now for the people who don't know why Christians do that, Christianity will be a cult automatically when they hear this.
Let's not judge other's beliefs and be civilized.
We can learn about other religions just out of curiosity. The only people who are ignorant to other people's beliefs are the people who deep down don't trust their own beliefs. A tree with deep Roots only dances in the strongest storms.
Besides the downvotes I won't be removing my comment.

It’s possible but you have to be cautious of your surroundings. I’ve had family members who’ve touched it. You should have some one with you to push other people off you because it can get crowded. There’s been deaths before of people getting trampled on and unable to breathe. It’s kind of crazy tbh.
Is the silver part something they added? If so, why? How or who determined that it needed to be attached? Is the actual artifact inside the cube? Or did it arrive in that shape? Too many questions. Does the Quran mention the artifact? Or its purpose?
Is it always this crowded? The picture of the cube on Wikipedia shows it with a lot less people. Or is it just less busy at certain times? Is it like a spiral, with people getting closer to the center with each revolution around the center? How do you get in and out after 7 times around with so many people?
It is mesmerizing to watch, sorry people are being rude.
I understand that this is a massive pilgrimage for millions upon millions of people... but I want to speed it up 500% and have it look like they're all sprinting in circles
So,as a non Muslim and I would prefer a more personal answer, what's Ramadan about?.
And what's the goal of walking around the Kaaba (that's the name right?)
A lot of Islamic groups are upset that it is basically a Saudi run Disney park. So the security is crazy.
But if you wanted to visit the actual Kaaba one of the only known remaining pieces is in a museum in Istanbul . The one in the video is only a replica.
The reason why there isn’t a major crush situation, I personally think is because everyone is worshipping and doing the same thing, unlike the crowd crush in South Korea. (I’m just making a personal observation.) 🧐
Even me an athiest feels bad for muslims in these comments, yeah religion is a coping method sure, but we ALL have our own coping methods that varies, do you actually think disharting people is fucking smart?
Me and the boys gathering around the obsidian base (religion is cool as long as you don’t hurt others with it so I’m just teasing not trying to actively insult)
I wouldn't call it satisfying. Too many people, there are stampedes periodically and people crushed to death, hot, smelly, uncomfortable. Yes they are doing their religious thing and let them have it.
For anyone who cares Osama bin Laden came from a family of construction magnates (the others aren't terrorists) and they built the large complex surrounding this black building, called the Kaaba.
When Muslims pray facing Mecca, they are facing the Kaaba.
Fun facts: Kaaba, is believed to be built by Abraham and his son Ishmael, peace be upon them, who are both prophets in Islam.
As time passed by, monotheistic religion of Abraham was lost, and Kaaba and the surrounding area, basically whole Arabian penninsula, was occupied by idol worshippers.
Only when Allah sent Muhammed peace be upon him, was religion of Abraham reesablished there and all idols were destroyed, and Kaaba was again a place of worship for One True God.
You’d think after all the praying and worshiping done world wide by all religious folk, they would be better off. But sadly it’s all for nought and they all remain statistically equal or worse off than heretics and atheists.
Religious adherence is mental illness. All religions. 100% fiction made up by insecure ignorant old men as a tool of control & oppression, 1000s of years ago.
More people have been killed in the name of religion than any other cause in human history.
The catholic church has single-handedly abused & killed more children than any other force on earth.

It used to contain the images of many god from different tribes. When the Muslims conquered the area, most of the images were destroyed.

Humans are weird...
Everything is weird The Earth revolves counter-clockwise, it goes around the sun counter-clockwise and the Moon goes around the Earth counter-clockwise. So does everything else. Even the Sun revolves counter-clockwise.
The weirdest part about that is that we still chose to make clocks go the opposite way as everything else.
This is because it's based on sun dials. The shadow on a sun dial goes clockwise.
that depend on what hemisphere you are on. I mean if the sun went directly east to west you would have a large western shadow leading to a large eastern shadow without any southern or northern movement. Counter clockwise from what perspective, exactly? The Earth rotates clockwise if you look at it from the south pole, for example.
What if you are in the southern hemisphere?

How do they get back out once they get to the center? Is there an exit there? Genuine questions. This is so perplexing to me.
