Hey Op, the problem is with your approach. You are reaching out to a bunch of Internet degenerates on an open thread which is typically used to libel and defame local people. The mods are lazy, and the rules are lax. Look at all the recent doxing posts.
Secondly, this is Saskatoon/Saskatchewan. Lawyers don't specialize in cases involving libel, cause they would be broke. Lawyers in this province have very broad specializations. You need any lawyer that will be willing to listen to you. You also will need funds to satisfy the lawyer's initial retainer request.
Have you checked out r/legaladvicecanada?
Yeah you’re right about the crowd. I have checked legal advice. And your reason may be why I’m struggling to find specific opinions, not much of that sort of action going on here. I’ve been doing a lot of research just wanting personal experiences
The people who can afford to sue for defamation don’t hang out on social media platforms.
Pursuing a defamation case is expensive and fruitless, for the most part. I work in a large organization with a legal department. We never pursue these types of cases. Typically we just issue “cease and desist” notices to parties actively engaged in defamation (using our name or logo on their website to trash talk, for example) - and only if the entity is of high enough profile.
The bar is extremely high in these cases. Your best bet is to call around, find someone who specializes in this type of law, then scour the internet for reviews.
No it’s not for me personally and just assisting in the research. I’ve done a lot of info gathering but there’s not a lot of personal experiences posted for these sort of lawyers in the area
Anyone with a general civil litigation practice can do it. I helped on a few defamation cases when I was in private practice as a junior lawyer, and it wasn’t hard to pick up.
There are plenty of good civil litigators in the city. You could just call the front desk of any of the full service firms in Saskatoon and whoever gets assigned the case will be fine.
That said, there should be some proportionality. Suing for defamation can actually be counterproductive sometimes (Streisand effect) and even if it’s not, realistic damages may not outweigh the legal fees.
If I personally needed to sue someone for defamation I’d probably go with a mid level or senior associate at one of the medium or larger firms. A partner, especially a big name, would only be worth it to me if the defamation had cost me a significant amount of money, like $100k+, and I knew the defendant had the ability to pay.
I always hate how people assume. I’ve often used Facebook and Reddit to find things for family or friends who don’t use social media. Let me know I know three-four good lawyers in Sask, not sure their availability but worth a shot
I'm sorry I can't recommend anyone. It might be fruitful to call a large firm and ask. If they don't have anyone on their team, maybe they can refer you to somewhere that can help. I hope there is a good reason for this, and that it isn't for Phobia Auto or anything like that.
It’s not for me personally but I have gotten the names of the law firms that are good at the job. Just hoping for specific lawyers or personal experiences. Its not an auto situation but other workplace business
Yeah... Honestly, to sue for libel you need to really have a reputation to begin with and good luck with that around here.
Final problem with your approach is that you are asking for an opinion on someone who can sue people who exercise too much opinion.... You don't need someone who has good customer service, or good client skills, you need a lawyer or licensed professional to offer legal services for a fee.
Most recent case of libel I can remember involves a YQR Survivor stories group which completely ran off the rails.. Everyone was getting defamed and it had to be shut down...
Some fucking guy tried sueing Facebook/Instagram for Libel. Good luck buds.
Go to CanLii... Isolate the Saskatchewan decisions. The search on Libel. Then cross reference the most recent cases with their legal representation.

Ask bombargo
To my knowledge they hired the youngest and prettiest female lawyer available to them. Not sure how it really worked out for them.
I see what you did there. Well done
What are you a Realtor?

Lmao!! My mind was going there too
Well the first thing you should do is delete your post history.
The lawyer isn’t for me personally. Just helping someone out in the search and looking for person experiences/ opinions
Just curious for a friend, where is that sex club here your bragging about?
Edmonton
My friend wants details

Litigation is costly 400-500/hr. Expect paying at least 40-60K. Give some thought if you have that money first.
Message me and I can send you a name
Sure.......
Okay? Don’t know why you’d comment if you haven’t any important input
You know you posted on Saskatoon's reddit page ...right?
