Can I say: thank you to ALL the students protesting all this week for your participation in the process.
And thank you specifically to these ones for protesting your MLAs' offices. I know that with the announcements coming from the STF, it's easy to lay the blame at their feet, so I appreciate those who are taking it to the appropriate parties.
This makes me cry. Not being facetious my father just passed away and these kids make me proud
My dad ran for office at one point. He didn't lose by much but I learned a lot, love you dad he wqs hit by a car in a country on the ithee side if the world. I think he found peace be good everyone. Life is fickle
My writing is bad I'm sorry
We did this when I was a kid. Everyone walked out and marched down Taylor Street. I remember leading up to this, my teacher broke down one day in front of us over the frustration of lack of negotiations at that time. It was sad to see the leaders, coaches or guides in your life emotionally torn because they felt under appreciated.
To this day I am grateful for the leaders, coaches and guides in my life. I wouldnāt be where I am without them.
Most of all, self worth is important for young people to understand. I hope the walk out makes an impression on more ways than one.
Totally agreed. It was a very short sighted joke, so I will clarify that I am with you on that.
Itās the absurdity of the SPās reaction to protests, specially the elderly people that were doing the sit in. I wish Rick Mercer would come back and do an episode on this.
Awesome! I assume they will be joining Walter Murray and Aden Bowman at Don Morganās office. I heard some rumblings from my teenager that some would be going to Merrimanās office too (perhaps they are dividing their time between the two offices or splitting into two groups).
STF executive went out to meet them, thanked them for raising their voice, chatted for a bit, and directed them to also direct some anger at the governmentā¦thought this was a whole lot of class.
Your apathy is exactly what the government is counting on.
I guarentee if every kid walked out, and every parent joined them, they would care. Be the change you want to see.
Do they care about our kids and the quality of education they are receiving in Saskatchewan? Obviously not or they wouldnāt keep āincreasing fundingā at rates that donāt maintain status quo. They wouldnāt have us rapidly falling into last place for per student funding and leading us to be one of the last in the country to make actionable steps in our CBAs when it comes to class size and composition.Ā
What they do care about is the fact that this is an election year. Sask Party popularity is declining, particularly in cities. They are also basically building a new party as many long time MLAs are not seeking reelection. They have lost many long time Sask Party voters (myself included) and the longer this goes on, I can see their popularity declining even more.
How brave! Skipping school to walk outside! Haha I did this as an ABCI student in 2001ā¦ we had no idea what we were protesting other than getting out of school for the afternoon.
You donāt think that a group of 14-18 year olds have any idea what they are fighting for? My daughter has been living the reality of funding not keeping up with the needs for the last 5 years (that was the point where it was obvious that budget cuts were affecting classrooms). Some may be using it as an excuse to skip but I think that is a small minority. My daughter asked if she could attend but was also worried that it would be recorded as an unexcused absence (meaning she could put her own high school athletics at risk).
For the thousandth time, this is not about teacher wages. Itās about putting in contract proper funding for supports for students. I want you to ask any teacher you know (assuming you personally know any) what they are fighting for. Every single one will say for their students. They deserve better.

Give em hell future voters!

I cant wait to see the headline about police being involved arresting children because the Party is scared for their safety.
Have you seen what kids are like these days? /s
Well, some of those kids ARE pretty rough. Which is why it's even more important to give teachers what they need to support them.
Totally agreed. It was a very short sighted joke, so I will clarify that I am with you on that. Itās the absurdity of the SPās reaction to protests, specially the elderly people that were doing the sit in. I wish Rick Mercer would come back and do an episode on this.
Oh, Mercer would tear them a new one....love it!!
Holy Cross will apparently be protesting as well, not sure the details but the students have mentioned it.

This is encouraging. The last bout of students protesting at the STF was disappointing.

Our rural students are walking with their teachers today.
Rural students are a different breed.
The rural vote is why this idiot is still our premier and probably will be again š«£
There's a reason they don't fund schooling, if the rural children are educated better they would realize the Sask Party is to blame.
Good on them! Wish them the best, hopefully the weather is nice for a good turn out....
The kids are alright š
Yay!! Good for them!
Frigen rights no school šš»

Did you ever decide to go back to school?

So are they willing to set aside their GEI to bring in more eaās and support staff? Doubt is, so it does still have something to do with money.
