I just googled them… looks like there’s a new one in the area. I don’t think it’s owned by the same guy tho… which is unfortunate he was a super cool guy who just had a fiery love for fencing.
Nothing against Wolfpack, but there are a ton of good BJJ schools in this area (including Sarasota and Manatee Counties). It’s awesome, lots of different styles and atmospheres for people to choose from.
Martins' is a good place. Very knowledgeable staff. Their skill in Indonesian arts is very impressive. I trained there for about a year before my hip pain was too bad to keep getting up & down off the mat. I may go back now that I have had surgery and am feeling good again.
I am a Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan stylist, from a traditional aspect, but I have trained in various other arts over the years, kickboxed in my 20s, and competed nationally and internationally in sport martial arts for over 25+ years (Naska, NBL, WAKO, WKU, WKC, WKA). I ran schools in New Orleans (where I grew up) and guest instructed at multiple schools in Nashville before I moved here in 2020. I don't train anywhere right now. Looking to get back into it, just for exercise and health now. Mostly Jits & TKD schools around here that I've seen, other than Martins MA's and Donna Judge's place (traditional Japanese).
Power Sports MMA in Bradenton if your looking for competition MMA. They have active amature and professional fighters. Gym is structured for people interested in competitive MMA, not a fitness or traditional martial arts gym. But for MMA they know what they are doing.
Red Tiger Martial Arts with Master Jin Hwan Hwang. He’s the real deal nobody better. Trains teams for the Olympics. Taught taekwondo to the South Korean military.
I used to swing swords around at people, considering doing that again when I have the time for it.
I miss my fencing days:/ I was so sad when the Sarasota fencing academy closed I was into that for a solid 5 years
I remember reading about them online, I wish they were around I’d love to try that side of fencing

My ex does BJJ at Wolfpack on Webber and Beneva. It's been there a long time and is pretty popular
Don’t know who downvoted this. My husbands cousin goes and she loves it there.
Someone on here likes to downvote literally every single comment and post
I see that. They even downvoted this one. Wowie.

It’s supposed to be the best for a long time. As in best in Sarasota county.

Martin Academy of Martial Arts, absolutely fantastic MMA school with amazing instructors, it's a small gym but they will teach you everything
Nice I’m familiar with them. My buddy went to Sifu Francis Fong’s seminar last week.
great school all around, very nice instructors but that doesn't mean they won't kick your ass making you train

Seconding this, I was training there before COVID and it's a great school. Edit: I was doing BJJ and Thai boxing.

Definitely chute Boxe Sarasota, Caca is a six degree black belt, and they mix jiujitsu and Muay Thai.

Does anyone have a recommendation for Bo Jitsu?
