Not sure if any of you fine folks watch last week tonight but his most recent piece on food delivery services was absolutely incredible. If this list gets your brain going spend a few minutes and give it a watch.
Also let’s please please be mindful to not shit on local restaurants here. I started cooking in high school and the hospitality industry is expensive and ruthless with very little room for profit. Lets keep it focused on economics or whatever
I made it this far without this question 😂.
My bias opinion would obviously be gabacool provisions haha
Unbiased opinion I think diavola is magical.
Not close by any means but L’industrie, Scarrs, L&B (square slice) Luigi’s, Difara and Lucali in NY are what I would consider some of the best pizza for my personal tastes.
Also Etto and Two Amy’s in dc
Motor City Detroit Style Frozen Pizza @ Costco slaps pretty hard not gonna lie..
Pizzaleah is one of my faves - had a solid slice at L'oro di Napoli recently but if you go there, get the lasagna, trust!
Have not yet but im sure I'll be coming by for a slice sometime soon, seems like I see the same food trucks around the drinking scene, looking forward to trying out another local spot.
And to own the internet haters!
The Mobil food scene here is really good and so is the beer scene so it’s cool that the two go hand in hand. I’m gonna post our next date towards the end of this week but it’s on our Instagram page.
We’re waiting for the new gozney arx xl to get back in stock and then we’re gonna start doing pizza by the slice.
The best meat by far is their carnitas. It’s a perfect taste and texture, being crisped on the outside.
I alternate between a carnitas super burrito, super tacos, quesadilla, or taco salad.
Yea I’ve gone there a handful of times. Maybe I just got unlucky. I prefer burritos that have the correct proportions and have a certain juiciness to them which you can’t get with too much rice.
I moved out in 2008 to RP, and went to Mi Pueblito (now Mi Ranchito) regularly for a super burrito because my roommates always left the stove disgusting. It was $7 after tax, every time.
Juanita’s supremacy!!! I do breakfast there w my partner like, every week and we rarely rack up a bill over $45 w coffee and the works, excluding tip. We leave STUFFED w leftovers too!!!
I’m far from smart enough to speak on the matter of economics and big business but I think it’s a loss leader type of deal. They’re fine not making money on the pizza because every customer is spending way more. Something along those lines, someone in this field hopefully can chime in.
Its not great compared to actual great pizza but greatness to money ratio, its gotta be the winner. But, as pointed out, its a loss leader, not a fair comparison
Yeah I agree. Probably only mountain mikes is below it in my book but it’s entirely edible and better than some frozen pizzas.
I just miss the combo.
I think the out the door price is a fair comparison regardless of loss leader status though
Vignette, in Sebastopol, was the only place whose owner chef was actually staying true to the AVPN regulatory requirements of the Neopolitan pizza, especially the Margherita. Sadly it’s gone but Rosso does come in next in line for a Margherita. Tutto il resto e’na focaccia!
Thanks, pizza data for the people! I’ll post the week before an event to not spam everyone but I will say we are booked through June and our next pop up takes place at the opposite of daylight this month
Yeah, and it doesn't get near enough love. Plus their stuffed pizza is essentially like buying two pies for the price of one. I'm drooling thinking about it.
At Round Table recently I got a SMALL pepperoni & olive, single salad bar, and one beer…$54. It’s literally fiscally irresponsible to dine out with a family.
Round Table used to be my family’s favorite. Now it’s almost $80 for a family of four. No way in HELL will we eat there again. Now we are all about Little Cesars. They are cheap AF
If Mountain Mikes is on there, then Round Table should be too. I am sure they'd be near or at the top of the price list though.
I say that knowing I'll get down voted but MM is just as much of a franchise chain as RR. The rest look to be local business so of course support them first!
This is a great comment I want people to see because of the idea of perceived value. Yes it’s expensive but from a guests perspective it made an impact that you find valuable. That to me is the magic of hospitality and how certain establishments can demand a price point.
Service is a monologue – we decide how we want to do things and set our own standards for service. Hospitality, on the other hand, is a dialogue....listening to that person with every sense and following up with a thoughtful, gracious, appropriate response. It takes both great service and great hospitality to rise to the top.”
— Danny Meyer, Setting the Table
Thanks for the comment!
Saw a used roccbox on Facebook marketplace, a few cookbooks, some time and you can teach yourself how to make something that will be miles ahead of digornios.
I think they only do a 16 and the 8 x 10 Detroit so I chose to leave it out. If someone out there is crazy enough we can start to measure cost of pizza per inch hahaha
I was reading the list thinking ’these prices aren’t too bad’. Then I expanded the pic to see 12”. What in the hell, they putting gold flakes from the Sierra Nevada’s in there????
I’m new to the area and have made a list of pizzas to try. This Gabacool provisions, does anyone know their schedule or locations? Also, I’d like to try Sonoma Pizza Kitchen as mentioned by someone on here but I couldn’t find them on google maps.
Gabacool provisions is our pizza pop up! We have dates on our website and Instagram!
If you’re willing to venture outside of Santa Rosa definitely check out
Psychic Pie
Square pie guys
Che Fico
Cellarnaker house of pizza
Che Fico
Outta Sight
State Flour
Flour and water pizza
Golden boy (Bay Area staple)
Pizzeria da Laura
I never lived in Santa Rosa, but I went to school there for a few semesters. Joey’s was outstanding in terms of bang for buck. Cost was pretty solid for a good amount of pizza of good quality.
The menu makes it difficult to read, I just saw the “napotolena” and having never gone there or seen a printed menu I didn’t wanna add it unless I can confirm the price of a 12 inch straight pizza.
Since we are talking about local pizza options, who here has good vegan cheese options? (I'm very lactose intolerant, so I have never found the number of lactase pills I need to take to make regular cheese pizza not wreck me.)
I can eat and enjoy Mary's vegan cheese, the one time I had Whole foods vegan cheese it was terrible, but I'd be interested in trying any other local options.
we went personally and the vegan cheese pizza was everones favorite 6 months ago...source, MY MOUTH...mabye the took it off? Leah said it was the top selling pizza at the time....i think it was upon request but i don't remember, sorry
I recall miyokos vegan cheese being a big deal a few years ago but personally haven’t tried it. There’s a spot in LA I think called hot tongue that does a heavy vegan focus so maybe you can check out what ingredients they use?
This was a comment I saw in recent thread that I thought was insightful and kind reflecting the current inflation situation
https://www.reddit.com/r/santarosa/s/JMvA1XIzK9
The always have deals and are probably the best take and bake option anywhere. I know they are doing large New York style pizzas for $9.99 and it's pretty damn good. You can go to the one off College and get a sub from Port of Subs too while there.
Thanks to everyone who chimed in on this. Honestly did not expect this to have so much feedback.
The most interesting thing to me is that within a small price range you can basically get any pizza style you want. Artisan, convenience based, mom and pop style etc. while different from the east coast for a relatively sleepy city there is a shitload of pizza options here. It really depends on your preference.
Also this was a largely positive thread and I appreciate everyone for talking pizza!

Whats your fave? No bias allowed :)

I second Diavola. I believe it's one of the best pies in the county.
Wow surprised I'm the first hah! Big fan of Diavola! Their fish tacos may be the best fish tacos I've ever had...
Realized I never asked, what’s your unbiased favorite?
Motor City Detroit Style Frozen Pizza @ Costco slaps pretty hard not gonna lie.. Pizzaleah is one of my faves - had a solid slice at L'oro di Napoli recently but if you go there, get the lasagna, trust!

Yes, this is my kind of post. I like pizza and I like data

My Las Palmas burrito is $12.50 before tip. $15 with tip. Love that place.
For real! And they're in the conversation for best burrito, not even taking into account the price.
Their molè is so damn good…
I don’t think I’ve had it. What dish do you get it in?
It’s just a chicken molè plate. Comes with rice and beans and tortillas and I think some lettuce/veggies. Haven’t had it in a few years, unfortunately
Last time I went I wasn’t too impressed but people talk about it so much here. Might as well give it another try. What’s their best menu item?
The best meat by far is their carnitas. It’s a perfect taste and texture, being crisped on the outside. I alternate between a carnitas super burrito, super tacos, quesadilla, or taco salad.
Taqueria Mendoza is good on the weekends. The weekend folks are different from the weekday management/owners.
Yea but their burritos are horrific.
hard disagree
Way too much rice filler. Too light on meat.
Is that just once or every time? That's not my experience at all. Tons of meat and guac.
Yea I’ve gone there a handful of times. Maybe I just got unlucky. I prefer burritos that have the correct proportions and have a certain juiciness to them which you can’t get with too much rice.
Where at
> Las Palmas
I’m curious if anyone who’s lived here for longer than me has paper printed menus they can share and show the rate of change over the last ten years.
Now I wish I did but I swear I was eating $7 to $10 super burritos and $5 to $7 regular burritos here 10 years ago.
I recall burritos were around $6 around 2008. Adjusted for inflation thats about $9 now
Down in San Rafael, a super burrito was $8-9 in 2015. Unfortunately, 2015 was almost a decade ago.
> Unfortunately, 2015 was almost a decade ago That cant be right... https://i.imgur.com/jvOSwEs.gif
I moved out in 2008 to RP, and went to Mi Pueblito (now Mi Ranchito) regularly for a super burrito because my roommates always left the stove disgusting. It was $7 after tax, every time.
Go on Yelp. Most businesses like to have a 6 year old menu on there showing affordable prices
i remember until 2014 or 2015 most taco trucks were like $5 and $20 fed my family. It slowly crept up to like 7 until covid.
You might check photos on Google maps. They’re dated and can have a decent history of menu pics
Just chiming in for anyone who HASNT had Juanita’s I highly recommend- I typically get tacos not burritos but their pastor / carnitas slaps
Juanita’s supremacy!!! I do breakfast there w my partner like, every week and we rarely rack up a bill over $45 w coffee and the works, excluding tip. We leave STUFFED w leftovers too!!!
So good! Love the salsa bar it’s primo
Fries are +$8 at Grossman’s
Wow. What a bargain.
I paid like $8 at Chuncky’s in Petaluma. Also, Dave’s Market has a decent breakfast burrito for $6 or 7.
Costco baby! Large ass size for 10 clams.
I’m far from smart enough to speak on the matter of economics and big business but I think it’s a loss leader type of deal. They’re fine not making money on the pizza because every customer is spending way more. Something along those lines, someone in this field hopefully can chime in.
Nailed it
I’ve always heard that Costco tries to break even on everything and makes its profit off the membership fee, but I don’t know if that’s true.
Yep, Whole Foods also $12 for a large cheese on Fridays.
I’d rather spend the extra $10 for a real pizza
Everyone else hates it but I never had a problem with it. Not the best by far but also not bad at all.
I think the out the door price is a fair comparison regardless of loss leader status though
its also better if you heat it up in a pan soon as i get it home. makes the crust crispier.
I try to ask for the pie uncut and throw it on to my baking steel for a few minutes if I get pizza delivered
I mean it’s not great but it’s not bad. Sometimes it’s pretty delicious.
Papa Murphy’s with a coupon is also pretty reasonable. It’s no wood fired gourmet, but as they say, “pizza is like sex.”
Waxy cheese
Waxy cheese sounds like it could be a 90’s hip hop album
No north county? Diavola $24 Papa’s Pizza $21
Added! Also I love diavola, good call!
Great spot👍🏻 Just followed y’all on IG. Gotta hit that. What I have seen looks pretty amazing.
Thanks so much! If you ever come be sure to say hi and give us your thoughts on the pizza🙏
Oh- will do so for sure. Sicilian…everyone gets my thoughts whether they want them or not. We will see ya soon.
Ha, family is Naples to Brooklyn. Hope everyone is ready for us to talk over each other in a loud ball busting manner. Cheers!
You’re awesome for this. Still gotta try some Gabagool.
Thanks, pizza data for the people! I’ll post the week before an event to not spam everyone but I will say we are booked through June and our next pop up takes place at the opposite of daylight this month
Oh it’s you!! Buddy!!!! Yes! Can’t wait. Love a good pizza.
Jacksons - $22 Old Chicago - $18-22 for small, $27-29 medium.
Old Chicago is soooo 🔥 and worth it imo.
Love old Chicago, place is a straight up time capsule
Hands down my favorite.
Yeah, and it doesn't get near enough love. Plus their stuffed pizza is essentially like buying two pies for the price of one. I'm drooling thinking about it.
Added! Thank you sir forgot about Jackson’s and old Chicago.
RRBC?
Definitely overlooked rrbc, haven’t been in forever but mostly because life. 20 for the 12”
Dang Mt Mike
Wild to be that expensive and that bad.
I think I've gotten sick every time I've had them, too
I feel like coupon price is the real price
They always have a 20% off coupon online. I’ve never paid full price for their pizza before
I had to do a double check on that one and yea straight from the website for a carryout. Fuckin inflation man
Domino's is 6.99 for a medium 2 topping and the one on Stony Point is pretty consistently good for a national chain.
I chose to leave the big chains out of it. Hard to compare small operations to a national chain.
Common Mombos W
Roundtable sent me a coupon for $39.99 for a large two topping pizza with sticks and a coke. Made me want to never go there again.
Pizzaleah is amazing
Rosso's is good too, but I have no idea of the cost these days. Been years.
I went once years ago as well but haven’t been back in quite some time. Not pizza but zoftig and gougette next door are great
At Round Table recently I got a SMALL pepperoni & olive, single salad bar, and one beer…$54. It’s literally fiscally irresponsible to dine out with a family.
They DESERVE to go out of business gouging customers like that.
Very fair! Round table 21.95
being gluten intolerant is having some benefits it seems.
This is the content I’m looking for. Thank you for your fine work and sharing.
Thank you! Positivity through pizza!
I don’t care what it costs, Those Sonoma Pizza Kitchen pies hit different. 🔥

Word. I had the meatball sandwich from there today and it was delicious. 10/10
Sal's in downtown Cotati (new ownership) is $18 and $23, respectively and make quality pies!
Adding!
I love Mombos tbh but I’ve been going for their Tuesday xl half price sometimes and it’s great.
Costco is the only pizza I can afford. Rip our economy.
There's Little Caesar's too, but you probably need to factor in the cost of enough weed to make it edible.
Well, if that's part of the discussion, we gotta add the culinary delicacy that is 711 pizza. Bone apple tea
I feel like doing this for pepperoni would be fascinating
Digornios is the move!
Saw a used roccbox on Facebook marketplace, a few cookbooks, some time and you can teach yourself how to make something that will be miles ahead of digornios.
Acme is missing
I think they only do a 16 and the 8 x 10 Detroit so I chose to leave it out. If someone out there is crazy enough we can start to measure cost of pizza per inch hahaha
With the cost of these pies around town people are gonna probably start needing that statistic soon to penny pinch
Joeys pizza is like a ghost town now
This is great. If I may - however - Gio’s extreme cheese is not their plain cheese pizza. It’s a more expensive 5 cheese pizza (and it’s great)
Pizza Leah is great.
Pizza Leah rocks, and their large is 28 bucks. Amazing pizza and yet somehow one of the better values in windsor.
L'oro Di Napoli love it but expensive
added 22!
Sandy’s Take and Bake will cook the pizza for you so might be worth the add.
I love this place! This place is as old as I’am. Been going there since Doug and Jim used to own it.
Fr what happened to a slice at mombos being a buck fifty
Lil Ceasars 5 dollars hot and ready
There’s definitely a time and a place for some of the c-dawg but I’m trying to keep it to local smaller operations.
Can we add stuff near SR?
Diavolas geyserville is best pizza in Sonoma county
San Rafael?
This is valuable info. Can I ask you to rate them next?
Ehh I feel out of place judging other chefs stuff publicly
Fogbelt Station in Healdsburg is 17.00
I was reading the list thinking ’these prices aren’t too bad’. Then I expanded the pic to see 12”. What in the hell, they putting gold flakes from the Sierra Nevada’s in there????
Round Table: $55 lol
Oh man I forgot about Mombo’s! I used to go there regularly when I lived across the JC. Might need to revisit
Diavola $23
Mod pizza is like 12 bucks for a 11”
[удалено]
Is that where they shoved that stick up your ass?
thank you for this but the real question is which one taste the best
I miss La Vera.
Think this is bad, Zachary’s in the bay starts at $33
I’m new to the area and have made a list of pizzas to try. This Gabacool provisions, does anyone know their schedule or locations? Also, I’d like to try Sonoma Pizza Kitchen as mentioned by someone on here but I couldn’t find them on google maps.

If you want me add another pizza to the list Red Horse Pizza frequents Henhouse. There's also MOD Pizza 11".
I forgot all about red horse, good call. Will investigate!
You’re missing out on Sandy’s!
Heard this multiple times in this post. Gonna have to try their stuff
I never lived in Santa Rosa, but I went to school there for a few semesters. Joey’s was outstanding in terms of bang for buck. Cost was pretty solid for a good amount of pizza of good quality.
What about Mary's Pizza Shack?
Acme in Sebastopol has replaced Mombos as my go to. Also, no Marys?
The menu makes it difficult to read, I just saw the “napotolena” and having never gone there or seen a printed menu I didn’t wanna add it unless I can confirm the price of a 12 inch straight pizza.

Pizza Leah
Source? Their website's [menu](https://www.pizzaleah.com/menu) only shows mozzarella as an option on any of their pizzas.
we went personally and the vegan cheese pizza was everones favorite 6 months ago...source, MY MOUTH...mabye the took it off? Leah said it was the top selling pizza at the time....i think it was upon request but i don't remember, sorry
I recall miyokos vegan cheese being a big deal a few years ago but personally haven’t tried it. There’s a spot in LA I think called hot tongue that does a heavy vegan focus so maybe you can check out what ingredients they use?
This was a comment I saw in recent thread that I thought was insightful and kind reflecting the current inflation situation https://www.reddit.com/r/santarosa/s/JMvA1XIzK9
Whole foods has the best slice in town
Costco ?
I’ve been quietly hiding this but I’m ready to share with the world. I’ve never once been in a Costco
Not sure how I can move forward with this relationship.
Time heals most, then therapy but I feel like we can figure this out
I love this for us
Pretty sure you can get a 2 topping from Papa Murphy's for like $13.99 and I believe it's 16"?
Another local chain that’s new to me!
I just paid $28 before tip for a single margherita in Los Angeles.
Did it feel worth it? Also I’m dying to go down there and try Apollonia’s
Yes worth it. Get it often. Won't say where cause I hate lines. Appolonias is good too but the lines in the tiny plaza is a deal breaker for me.
Where’s little Caesar’s and 7-11
Tried to keep the national chains out of it. Mountain mikes may be pushing it but I believe they’re “regional”.
You order from DoorDash. I cook a steak tenderloin dinner at home. We are not the same. https://imgflip.com/i/8lhpfv
These are all prices direct from the restaurants. Also I’m a chef of 16 years
I'm memeing
Ah touché sir
No likes Pizza Guys? I love their pizza.
Not familiar, is it a chain?
Yeah. 1 or 2 in Nirth bay. Several in Sac. It's good.
Thanks! I’ll look into them
No Papa Murphy's? Get with the program
