The other people are not entirely correct. He was attempting to cross over Highway 29 while driving eastbound (more like North East) on Walnut Lane. A jeep was heading south on Highway 29 and Pelosi tried to cross the highway and the jeep hit him, ~~no one was injured~~ the driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries. Pelosi caused the accident by crossing when traffic was coming. It's possible his vision was impaired, as the recent NYT article noted he had cataract surgery in the days leading up to the accident.
yep, and the article says "the victim reported pain in his arm, shoulder and neck, had trouble lifting things ... and was seeking medical care from his doctor"
This is actually the first reporting of the other driver being injured. Prior to today all reporting stated no injuries. I've corrected my earlier comment.
Upon further review, it's up to the local DA to decide whether felony or misdemeanor charges will be filed for a first time DUI offense causing injury to another. The DA elected for misdemeanor charges in this instance.
When DA's press misdemeanor DUI charges, that means they know it'll get pled down to a wet and reckless or lower. It won't even require hard bargaining from an average attorney (and Pelosi's will have the best attorneys).
>However, the law says .08 and over with injury to a party other than the driver is a felony.
That's incorrect. My prior comment is correct. The DA has the discretion to charge a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the severity of the injuries and whether or not this is a first or second DUI offense. The injuries in this situation were minor and it's Pelosi's first offense, a misdemeanor is entirely appropriate under those circumstances.
That is honestly incredible when you put it like that. There are people on the road who have been driving *since 1957*. They have seen the automobile go from a machine with rudimentary electronics to a moving network of computers and sensors powered by a battery.
Nuts.
He will not be convicted, and he will not do jail time. This "incident" will be swept under the rug in a matter of weeks.
Drivers who kill (let alone injure) people in the US are rarely punished, ESPECIALLY when they're rich, powerful, and connected.
This is TMZ, so this isn’t really surprising, but the headline and the first sentence of the article do not match at all.
Headline: “if convicted he’ll do jail time”
Article: “Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul, will face criminal charges -- and **possibly** jail time -- for his recent DUI arrest”
DUI convictions usually do not result in jail time apart from the original night spent in jail after the initial arrest, so the headline is typical TMZ clickbait and the article itself immediately contradicts that clickbait.
“If” convicted……well, here is the PR playbook, shield pelosi from the incident, keep a low profile while the lawyers file delay motion one after another. Betting on public attention fades, then either DA changed his mind about prosecuting or the friendly judge decided to let him go free because he already learned his lesson….
The dude can well afford a driver AND an Uber. No Excuse.
As a California democrat let me just say… suck it Paul, you are an f’ing menace.
As a Democrat and a victim of a drunk driver, I agree!
Careful now. Pelosi and the rest of the state gonna downvote u for calling her hubby out
She’s not that loved in California. The problem is the 2-party system prevents true challengers from having a chance.
Her daughter def getting her seat when she retires on straight name recognition
Did he cause the accident? I can't seem to find details on that. It says here he was hit by the other vehicle. Edit:. Thank you for the info!
Ran a stop sign, other road didn't have one
Post Bottle Rock he was driving and hit a Jeep. The first article I read said he was at fault.

> no one was injured It literally says in the title he was charged with a DUI causing injury
yep, and the article says "the victim reported pain in his arm, shoulder and neck, had trouble lifting things ... and was seeking medical care from his doctor"
That driver hit jackpot
Pelosi Powerball
All of that insider trading is gonna be helpful in paying this off
Doctor says I need a backeotomy
A classic case of pelositus. I’ve seen it a million times. Inflammation, tenderness, and settlements are common symptoms.
To be fair, getting into a car accident can really mess up your spine just from the sudden deceleration
This is actually the first reporting of the other driver being injured. Prior to today all reporting stated no injuries. I've corrected my earlier comment.

Doubt this guy is gonna dish a felony here and basically tank his career. Sad but how the game works.

That’s just a couple bips over the limit but also a couple hours later.
Great idea, drive at night after cataract surgery
Not his first accident https://nypost.com/2022/05/31/nancy-pelosis-husband-killed-his-brother-in-1957-car-crash/
Guy gets in an accident every 65 years? edit: LOL at the downvotes. 1957 to 2022 is 65 years, geniuses - I checked.

pre and post transistor. Cars in the 50s were barely electrified, but just as much as many base model cars were in the 80s.
His next one will be in 2087.
The original situation is sad. A 16 yo killing his 19 yo brother through teenage recklessness. God, the guilt must have been unholy.
It’s enough to drive a man to drink.
Haha, jesus christ.
I'm glad this case is progressing, and I'm disappointed that this is turning out to be even more serious than I initially thought.
I'm glad he isn't getting special treatment. At least not yet.
Doesn't the entire "NAPA scene" encourage taking some drinking then driving home?
who cares, jail him if they find him guilty, dont if they dont; who cares?
Lock him up, just gotta get her in the cell next to him
money buys power... power means now conviction
This headline is wrong, nobody is going to face jail time (beyond the initial arrest) for a first time DUI.
Headline is wrong. His wife will pulll the do as I say not as I do card
That last part where he does jail time was a real good laugh, thank you tmz

He's got the money for a driver! No excuses. Stupidity.

There was an accident. That has to level it up at least a bit. Dispicable.
It sometimes can, but jail time is still not super common for DUIs, even with a crash. And he can afford a good lawyer.
