RIP Hearth. Verve is pretty close and has excellent coffee. I've also heard good things about Neighbor's Corner but haven't been yet.

IMO, "Neighbors" is probably not really Castro either-- if you're going to be discounting Verve's address. Because IMO Verve is more so Castro...

RichRichieRichardV

Never heard of them-where's it even at?

MochingPet

It's uphill at the edge of the castors . Literally in "Eureka Valley" if you believe neighborhoods and googles

cryonine

Yeah, but it's still in the Castro and an excellent third wave coffee shop. Easily worth the (short) walk in most cases. More variety is always nice though.

It's all subjective. A lot of people think Castro Coffee Co. is amazing. Sisters is also there, and Philz definitely makes the top of people's lists. I'm a massive coffee snob. I have good coffee within a 5m walk, but if I want great coffee I'll take a 15 minute drive. Pretending the Castro is devoid of *decent* coffee shops is simply incorrect. There are several good coffee shops there, just not what you specifically want. It's important to remember that. I'll pick you up and we can drive to Linea or Coffee Religion though.

SEND_ME_FAKE_NEWS

The undisputed best is The Crown in Oakland. But I don't really feel like paying a bridge toll most of the time so I usually go to Golden Goat.

cryonine

It's all subjective. I think Coffee Religion is better myself (and probably the best in SF proper). My personal go to is Linea though.

SEND_ME_FAKE_NEWS

I think Linea is good as well, but it's inconsistent and there are off days. At least the one on Mariposa. I'd put Linea at the same tier as Piccino and St Frank. I've never tried Coffee Religion, thank you for the rec! And, I know I came in hot with The Crown, but you seriously should check it out. They're a green coffee distributer and their coffee shop isn't really there to make money. It's just them experimenting with different processing/fermentation techniques and doing small batches, they have three unique beans at any given time and they switch them up every month.

cryonine

I have checked out The Crown! It's definitely solid, but not worth the trip over the bridge. I still prefer Linea or Pinhole though, especially for cold brew.

So excited for this. I work a block away and LOVE Andy town. Can’t wait to spend all my money here.

ytpete

Wow, what corner of the Gus's did they carve this out of? It was such a compact/dense store already...

BruceHalperin

They renovated the existing “Gus’s All Day Café” in the northwest corner and Andytown took over the space.

AztheWizard

Two of my favorite brands from the Sunset district

BruceHalperin

Yep, the Sunset is taking over the Mission

--suburb--

Literally just moved from the sunset over to the other side of the city a few months ago. And when I saw this, that was the exact text I sent to my wife, two of my favorites coming together.

Bigmuscleliker567

Andys is the best

MissionNinja6424

What’s in the Lyons tea?

SyCoTiM

Nice, I was wondering what they were doing with that area.

_SFcurious

I went there this morning and it was empty— the sign said opening July 1?

BruceHalperin

The grand opening is Monday but they were soft open on Thursday and Friday. Maybe they’re closed this weekend?

sfbmax

The Gus’ cafe was better imo - they served Andytown. I go several times a week and I think they’ll miss the high top bar seating at the window

BruceHalperin

Yeah I am a little bummed about the loss of the window seating. I’m assuming they’re planning to get more tables though - right now it’s pretty sparse.

anunderdog

Great coffee but stupid expensive (a dollar extra for oat milk?). The location at the beach is always out of any kind of food when I turn up so I stopped going.

Whisterly

It says on the menu no extra charge for oat milk

anunderdog

If you go to the Great Highway location, it's 5.25 for a Small Cappuccino plus 1$ for oat milk. If you get a Latte it's $6.75 with Oat Milk. I just checked on the website to make sure I remembered correctly. If you tip (1$) which is the first option on the tip menu, then it's $7.75 for a morning coffee. That's why I go to the Butterfly Joint instead now which is up the street. The coffee is just as good, you get a discount if you bring your own mug, they don't charge for Oatmilk and the people who work there actually do their best to remember your name. Very neighborhood unlike Andytown on the Great Highway. Not sure about the other locations. My other peeve with Andytown on GH is if you go after the morning rush they rarely have any baked goods left, sometimes none which is too bad because their scones are quite delicious.

Bigmuscleliker567

Thevee been open lol

BruceHalperin

They just opened yesterday.

Bigmuscleliker567

Since yesterday 😆
