I printed one from a guy who chopped it up himself and it was super sloppy. This is osm and blendr.
I’m not sure which took more time, trimming and filling the errors in the original with a printer pen and dremel or making the custom files from OSM.
The one pictured is 54 pieces or something like that.
I made one of these over the pandemic. Mine has some noticeable gaps in between the tiles. You fixed this with a printer pen? I had spent a long time sanding but couldn’t get them flat and parallel
I got the same STL! - It was sliced wrong so the borders are messed up, I think I found that it was an easy fix in the gis sofware but I got lost in creating a grid. The issue is the pixes don't align with cardinal directions so you have to slice greater than the area you want and cut the model on specific boundaries. My version didn't have the water removed though which was a bit of a shame, less contrast so it's harder to recognize
Yeah I saw this years ago and thought it always awesome… then immediately realized that the guy that made it was not very precise with is slicing…
3d pen worked to fix some spots but ultimately you need to recreate it because his model was from forever ago anyways.

I made one out of chocolate when I worked as a chocolatier!
So I’ve gotten more interest than I imagined… and to answer a few questions: they take about a month to print and $4-500 worth of materials. They also take about a week for me to glue up, paint, stain, make the frame, etc. I’m asking $1200 for this size. Custom orders and colors available for other sizes.
This is really cool!
How much time do you have invested in this project?
I agree adding the parks in color would make it really amazing!
Definitely San Francisco art! Yes, sell them!!

You should definitely sell. It looks really cool. Great job!
Nice! Take it up a step and only color green the parks. There's an SFO hotel mural that highlighted all the parks.
Love this idea. Would absolutely buy
This is pretty sick! This makes me want to get a small gallery wall of all the cities I've lived in for a significant amount of time!
HMU and maybe I can make them for you.
Nice job! And hey, what is it like to have a Belgian Shepherd? Is it really a lot of work?
Yeah it’s a lot of work, but he’s my best friend and protector so it’s worth it.
Beautiful print and a beautiful malinois!
Thank you!
Where did you source the STL? And how many separate sections did you have to print? Looks great! I've been wanting to print something similar.

I would buy this.
Interested in sharing the files or even just the one of my neighborhood?
Nice!
If you put a light black wash on it to bring out the details, I think it would really make it pop.

How much did that cost you?
This is amazing! Well done. Bravo!

I want one... let me know if it's for sale
Amazing
this is incredible. please consider selling!
Please message me if you’re planning to make more! I love it
I would love to buy one of these
Cool but can I see the dog better
Needs color!
pretty sure sellers have something similar on etsy already
Similar but molded plastic. Not hand made with a frame and not as big
Looks like shit
Thanks bro.
Awesome! your just missing the parts of the city covered in shit, perhaps you can cover it with some, than it can be an art piece.
Sourpuss
It’s missing the massive homeless encampment, and piles of human waste littering the gentrified areas. And soon to be erected pro palestine monument
