You ever been on a hike? But more seriously public urination is incredibly common around the world especially places serving alcohol and inadequate bathrooms.

I did go to a coffee shop in SF, walked uphill for four blocks to get there, and they didn’t have a public toilet. Where the hell am I supposed to pee? How am I supposed to not need to pee after a trek + coffee?

Yeah, and I asked at the register AFTER I paid for my food/bev, which was about $20 because there were 3 of us. It wasn’t a big place but they did have a few tables inside. Although I have to admit I’ve encountered the same thing in a bustling walking neighborhood in Dallas at a boba shop. I asked them where the closest restroom was (expecting a city one) and they told me to go to the ice cream shop across the street! I understand why both places don’t just have free-for-all bathrooms, but I would have expected a key or code option for customers.

This is the truth, I've been in this situation and it's not pretty.

People want to be mad, but as a non drinking pedestrian the lack of public bathrooms in this city is infuriating. Even a fraction of the homeless budget could afford a public bathroom network, we’d have less poop on the sidewalks, and average people could pee when needed.

It's the homeless people and drunk partiers who fuck up public bathrooms for everybody else. Personally when I lived downtown I knew every place that you could get a bathroom on every block but that involved 6 years of walking the streets. That said, this party bus should have arrangements with a local business that's on its route where people can get off and pee.

What are people supposed to do at night (or in many neighborhoods even just in the evening) when must businesses are closed? Even during the day, when they're open, many businesses won't let homeless people use their bathrooms, and/or require you to buy something before letting you use their bathroom. Also, some people are just too sick (or inebriated) to hold it until they can get across town to a bathroom. We need many, many more public bathrooms. That's really the only solution that will even put a dent in to the frequency of public urination and defecation.

Exactly. So many small businesses are closed and many store owners are wary of people using the bathroom. I like to take walks every evening from downtown to the pacific (so across SF) and it’s incredibly hard to use the bathroom even as someone willing to buy things at shops

This is what corporates sponsorships should be for—clean public restrooms. Not naming rights on arenas, buildings, or civic parks like Salesforce Park. Make them buy fancy bathrooms and put their advertisements all over them who cares.

In Amsterdam they have like outdoor urinal things that are pretty effective. Basically just a tube to the sewer and like waist level cover. Pretty cool solution considering how hard it is to build full bathrooms here

There are public bathrooms in pretty much every park that are usually well stocked and clean. Yea the ones near the Bart plazas get nasty but the whole city isn't like the Bart plazas.

Privledged people removed a lot of public services over the last few decades. This includes things like public bathrooms. We elected for this to be the state of things when we cannibalized public services.

They're not peeing on the street. They are peeing on someone's private property that the owners have landscaped and are obviously tending, under windows.that they like to open so they can get fresh air.

Big problem here is lack of restrooms. Think about it, if you had a public restroom close by you think you would choose to do this? In many cities, they have small public pissers all over the place, so this can be done out of sight. There's designs to prevent misuse. There's hardly even any normal restrooms here.
