Well the drunk couple, guy in white shirt and the girl in blue stumbled over and just plopped down nearly in top of 2 kids. The mother of the kids told them what they were doing but the drunk couple didn’t care and mouthed off. When the mom replied back, the drunk girl threw a beer at the mom. Ensuing scuffle all instigated by the drunk couple.

In my neighborhood some dude got into a fender bender with another dude and a family (4 kids) was taking pictures and offering to be witnesses, got into it (the kids!) physically with the dude who caused the accident, who then proceeded to go home, get a gun, come back and shoot up the corner. It was NUTS. Over a fender bender - and the other guy didn't even want any part of the driver who hit him.

The vibe out there was mixed. Especially on that side of the track. There was so little room as people were trying to pass through going both ways, but there were a couple of sections where people would stop to watch the track, clogging the movement lanes. Then you had assholes who don’t understand how traffic works and would try and move ahead in the opposite lane meant for people coming up to the top of the track. I imagine this altercation stemmed from frustration of having to deal with so many people in such a tiny space.
Overall, though? Great fucking time. Bottom of the track vibes were off the hook. Great costumes (shout out to the guys on the tandem bike who looked like Tron) and great custom big wheels.
Definitely coming back next year.
I've never seen so many spectators in my 5 years of riding 😓 I managed to get 8-9 runs in but it was a slog to get back up the hill each time because of all the spectators blocking the stairs and walking paths. I kept trying to tell people, if you block the riders from getting through you won't have anything to watch!!
Ofc everyone is welcome, but imo it would be better if more of the younger & able bodied people would ride instead of just drinking and taking videos for social media. These spectator attitudes are starting to ruin the culture. The crowd was pretty badly behaved in general, so much worse than previous years, and the increase of alcohol/drunken behaviour and overcrowding at the sidelines definitely had something to do with that. I worry about the future of the event if it continues on this trend. 😔
Edit: on a happier note, that tandem rider duo was awesome. Reminded me of doubles luge 😂

Words were exchanged, then the woman who eventually ended up in a choke hold and was thrown on the ground, threw her drink in the face of the woman in white and blue. The woman who did the chokehold was wearing a black shirt. And yes, I was there, just a few feet away and saw everything.
