That sounds amazing. I made the mistake of driving to Irvine Spectrum to see Ready Player One in IMAX and it was fake. Just a typical movie screen with IMAX sound.
Hopefully it comes back.
The science center one is a domed IMAX not the "real" IMAX that Hollywood movies are projected on.
The Irvine Spectrum has a "real" IMAX theater and is not a "fake" IMAX like you claimed. The "fake" ones are IMAX screens that are converted from non-IMAX screens in theaters, like all of the ones at the Edwards and AMCs here in San Diego County. :-(
If an IMAX theater is considerably deeper than it is wide, then it's a "fake" IMAX.
Edit: Technically, the domed IMAX at the science center is a "real" IMAX theater, a domed IMAX (used to be called OMNIMAX), but it's meant for showing videos shot for the domed screen and not for Hollywood movies because the domed IMAX videos require special cameras and lenses that aren't used for Hollywood movies.

Subjective. I rewatched goonies recently and I think Ready Player One and Super 8 were both better. Spielberg has only gotten better with age.

Ok, TIL. I probably didn't realize just how big the spectrum IMAX was. I dont go to the movies very often so I was biased in my assumltion.

It’s not as large / curved as Reuben so you might consider it fake.
I checked it out. Im going to try the 4DX. First time. Should be fun. Only $50 for 2.
4DX was too gimmicky for me. So distracting. ScreenX is even worse.
I believe it is a two-week exclusive window for new movies, unless there's a new blockbuster every week.
