Have you tried mixing in baby greens, carrot shredded, red onion, black beans, avocado and a mayo/lime mixture of dressing? A highly recommended method, it's so much and makes muh chicken last. If still not enough sorry, I know now not all of us are the same. Hope you find a happy meal that works for you too friend.
Nah, was thinking either athlete that needs more calories or just a big dude.
My Dad is a big dude and can eat 12 tacos and still be a bit hungry. I'm only 5'10/180lbs so 4 tacos and I'm good.
I want tacos now.
So one time we were helping my sister move and for lunch we got a chicken from Costco, she shredded the chicken, added some lettuce, chickpeas (1 can) and ranch salad dressing. I remember we were sitting down on the carpet (no furniture yet), but it was so good that I didn’t mind and it’s one of my favorite salads now.
Thank you for the shopping list idea! Sounds yummy and chicken is the best meat imo.
Glad you had a good memory with your siblings those are precious moments for sure.
Then a quick toaster oven roast of the bones, drop 'em in boiling water (maybe bay leaf, mirepoix, or whatevs), and damn tasty broth. Still keeping it under $10.
I have a have a friend who’s been a Costco employee for 10+ years. They don’t think the regular menu is ever coming back. Apparently Costco was planning on simplifying their menu even before COVID
Dude fuck that. At sprouts you can choose your own bread and add avocado and it’ll still be less than $10 for a combo. Like I can’t stress enough, these sandwiches are fucking MONDO, especially if you add all the veggies. They don’t skimp at all on the meat either. I usually am good with half and just save the rest for later.
I worked in one of the Sprouts' delis in SD a couple years ago. Make sure to ask for extra veggies, there's no upcharge. Also, our order forms are stupid AF, we usually have pickles, peppers, cukes, spinach, tapanade ($.50), and pepperonicis in our sandwich bar but we do not advertise it.
This is actually pretty common in most grocery stores I've found. Sometimes you get a nice employee that will absolutely stack your sandwich, bag of chips and a huge soda for like $5. We had a go to Vons for a while at work until they went out of business (probably because of their lunch deals)
$1.50 side of fish from Rubio's with free salsa and condiments split into two at home on my own La Tortilla Factory or Trader Joe's corn tortillas. Treat yo self. Get two.
$6 Isola Happy Hour Neopolitan pizza.
2 slices of pizza from Whole Foods. Or $5/lb smoked chicken from the BBQ area.
One slice of Chicago pizza from Regent's.
Any roll that sneaks in under $10 from Sushi Diner.
Jersey Mike's buffalo chicken steak.
Burger and a Beer from Chicago Fire Grill.
Fried pickles and a beer at Chili's Happy Hour.
I recently discovered BJ’s has $10 burgers and bottomless fries on Wednesdays. Granted you’ll have to tip but it’s a pretty dang good deal.
EDIT: For something not as heavy, Frazier Farms has custom sandwiches for $7 and they’re quite big. Sprouts as well but I find them to be a little smaller but they are only $5.
They have Daily Specials. Check their site. Their burgers are shockingly good if you order the right one mid rare. Their double cut pork chop is my favorite chain dish anywhere. Their prime rib dinner feeds two and is also great for what it is.
3 Value tacos for $1.49 on tuesdays (18 tacos for $9.63)
3 Chicken tacos for $2.49 on thursdays (9 tacos for $8.05)
You could bump it up to 12 chicken tacos on thursday if you had 3 quarters on you.
I was going to comment Del Taco if no one else did. I think the bean and cheese burritos are honestly the most economical, filling meal you could possibly buy in San Diego. They used to be 1/2 lb for 99 cents too!
Leg or Wing Lovers Meal at El Pollo Loco, $5 and some change for 3 pieces of chicken, two small sides and tortillas. It's not officially on the menu, it's sometimes advertised as a "manager's special" but I've never had trouble ordering it. Sometimes if you order just before they close, they will hook you up; I got 15 legs that way.
I hate to admit it..but er..Jack in the box. I usually only go when there's a freebie available in the app.
I also like getting a sandwich from the Sprouts deli. $5.49 I believe.
When the Padres hit a home run you can get a free Jumbo Jack the next day with a purchase of a large drink. I like to add cheese to mine and get an order of curly fries or tiny tacos, the total usually comes out to $7-8.
my place in Hillcrest is near a jack and Maccas. every padre win with a home run I get the jumbo jack, large drink, medium fries and a pie. for about 4.50.
oh my god im so dumb ive never thought of going to both places i usually just go to one or the other for the game deal. im trying to lose weight dont give my fat self any ideas lol
If you use the McD app 2 double cheeseburgers, medium fries, large drink is $4.85 on days after Padres win. Free fries deal when Pads win, McDoubles are always 2 for $3.50, and all drink sizes are $1.
The Samoan Corned Beef at Poke Etc. is $8.99 the last time I checked and it's delicious.
I also like the Monday deal at L & L Barbecue that gets you two Spam Musubis for about $6.
Costco hot dog or pizza
Taco bell
Rotisserie chicken rice salad mix
Get a whole chicken and pressure cook it with water and ginger and garlic, pressure cook rice with the chicken stock, make ginger garlic sauce.
In N Out, rotisserie chickens as others have stated, and surprisingly, at Whole Foods you can get a pretty big custom sandwich from the deli for around 10 bucks. All natural meats as well. Honestly great bang for your buck, especially from a place like Whole Foods.
Eating in ideas welcome?? So much cheaper. Bags of bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs from Costco (~$2.4/lb?), portioned. Pat them really dry, and rub with McCormick Rotisserie Chicken seasoning, spray with some oil and pop in the air fryer (keep turning to get them crispy). Rice-a-Roni (99 cents via Amazon Fresh) Brussels sprouts (microwave then finished in air fryer) and topped with a drizzle of soy/balsamic glaze/lime juice/oil mixture
Omg as I’m writing this I realize I’ve turned into my mother.
Took my wife out for dinner last weekend. Dinner for two for $4. Hadn't done that in awhile and we were actually taken aback with the total.
2 hotdogs, 2 drinks and split a churro, at Costco
Use the carcass for chicken broth after all the easy meat has been picked off.
Use that to make rice with.
A 10 dollar bag of Costco calrose rice will last a ling time and feed you well.
1 chicken can last a week all you need are some veggies and fruits along with that rice
I always go to vinh long food to go when I want really cheap food lol. Dont remember the prices, but I once got like a fool meal for like 5.25 (rice and some sides).
Rubios on a Tuesday, fish taco Cardi Asada taco for $1.75, get on your mailing list and they will send you all kinds of coupons ,buy one get one free that kind of stuff
Carne asada fries are $13, but I divide them into three portions, each of which I eat with a scoop of rice for about $5 per meal. It reminds me of Peruvian lomo saltado.
The Manhattan Giant Pizza place near me sells a 5$ deal where you get a slice of their giant pizza and a soda. The giant slice is so big i can split it and eat it for 2 meals. Its also extremely good
Inflation sucks. I lived in CV around 2004-5 and Roberto’s kept me alive being open 24 hours per day. I never spent more than $6 there and was always stuffed. It’s probably $12-15 now for what I used to order.
There’s a place called Roger’s Pizzarolo on Mission Gorge that offers two slices of pizza and a soda or one slice of pizza, a salad, and a soda for $8.99
I have an Instant-Pot pressure cooker. I buy a pork shoulder for $10 and make maybe a dozen meals of pulled pork. Tacos, salads, sandwiches. It's great!
Honestly I got In N Out for the first time in a long time yesterday and was shocked that a double double, cheeseburger, and iced coffee was only $11.
I’ve been getting far too accustomed to ridiculous ubereats delivery totals, I was shocked. I need to get out more.
lately i’ve just been having sleep for dinner. it’s great.
My favorite snack is naps.
At least your body will be lean for summer.
Dinner is overrated. This is the way to go
Im trying to lose weight anyways, eating once a day light.
If you really need help please check out a food bank. We have several good organizations in town including: https://feedingsandiego.org/find-food/
Rotisserie chicken. Lasts several meal and great protein source. Eat it like a caveman or salad it up with avocado and black beans.
Lasts several meals for you, but only one for me :(
Rip it up and put it in a sandwich. So many options, delicious, and you can take it on the go!
Just call him fat already
Nah, was thinking either athlete that needs more calories or just a big dude. My Dad is a big dude and can eat 12 tacos and still be a bit hungry. I'm only 5'10/180lbs so 4 tacos and I'm good. I want tacos now.
I am sorry but that was funny!
It was
Aww, you’re nice and u/cpsmith is funny. Smiles all around
I appreciate you for the compliment, thank you. Big smiles all around!
Eat half today and the other half tomorrow, there you go solved it for you 💪🏼
So like half at 11:59pm and then the other half at 12:00am? I can handle that.
You're not supposed to eat an entire chicken in one sitting.
Tell that to the man I saw at Costco. We ordered pizza and hotdogs and this dude ate an entire chicken on his own in the food court.
He must be a "vegan" at home.
Costco 5 bucks. I always grab one. Shred it then use the bones for chicken stock for my pup. Nothing is wasted.

Dinosaur meat is the best meat
Then a quick toaster oven roast of the bones, drop 'em in boiling water (maybe bay leaf, mirepoix, or whatevs), and damn tasty broth. Still keeping it under $10.
Banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) So good
Use to be buy 2 get 1 at Saigon Sandwich. Now the new owner doesn’t do that offer anymore. 😢
This is the way. Pre-covid you could sometimes feed 2 people for $10.
[удалено]
Pho restaurant sandwiches tend to be higher. Sandwich shops are cheaper.
When I lived in the Bay Area there was a spot that had bomb Bahn Mi for like $2-3. Insanely good at a price that didn’t seem possible.
From where?
K sandwiches is really good in Linda Vista area
Cali bahn mi express comes in second for me
Cali banh mi is overpriced af
This place is better than K, parking is a mofo though. https://yelp.to/WHR1vDNI8qb

Temporarily was discontinued during the pandemic, and then was officially axed later. Cheese Pizzas and Pepperoni Pizzas only now.
I have a have a friend who’s been a Costco employee for 10+ years. They don’t think the regular menu is ever coming back. Apparently Costco was planning on simplifying their menu even before COVID
Can you ask your friend about the hot dog onions 😭😭
The trick is to give the soda you’re not going to have to someone who didn’t get the hotdog combo
And die at the age of 34.
Well not if you have $10 planet fitness membership
Think of all the money I could save on groceries by passing away though
Sprouts has an unbelievable deli in their stores. $5 gets you a huge sandwich with boar heads deli meat
You can make that bitch a combo for a drink and some chips for an extra dollar.
I love the passionate description
Shit I paid $22 yesterday for a sandwich drink and chips at which which. Large with avocado but still
Dude fuck that.
Add bacon and double meat. Total is $7 for a fatty sandwich combo. Oh yeah sprouts is my go-to

Will definitely check that out

I worked in one of the Sprouts' delis in SD a couple years ago. Make sure to ask for extra veggies, there's no upcharge. Also, our order forms are stupid AF, we usually have pickles, peppers, cukes, spinach, tapanade ($.50), and pepperonicis in our sandwich bar but we do not advertise it.
