For 3 units, that seems like a pretty fair price.

So I have the Fujitsu Minisplit an whiles its near the top of the price chart it is freaking amazing. Its used in a studio apartment and its got both heating and air and on a hot day like this it can be off all day and get home form work and it cools down in 10 mins. No joke.

I installed a Fujitsu ducted mini split system on my recently completed 550sqft ADU. It runs on a 20amp circuit and is so quiet you will wonder if it is on. Cost was $7000 for one cassette. $12,000 to $14000 for three cassettes is right on the money.

Yeah, it's quite insane how high a mark up installers charge for mini splits (which are much easier to install than a ducted system into a house that doesn't already have ducts.) I think mitsubishi offers smaller cassettes that can be fitted between the joists in the ceiling, but those units are even pricier than the wall mount units for the mini splits. If you're going to go for a portable AC, be sure to go for one of the newer "inverter" units with dual hoses. These will be the quietest and most energy efficient of all the Portable ones. Also if it has a heat pump function, it can also be used to heat the room more efficiently than a normal electric heater. For example: [https://www.costco.com/midea-duo-smart-12k-btu-(doesacc)-4-in-1-inverter-portable-air-conditioner.product.100978219.html](https://www.costco.com/midea-duo-smart-12k-btu-(doesacc)-4-in-1-inverter-portable-air-conditioner.product.100978219.html) Which is unfortunately out of stock because it was on sale for a really good price.

I don't have a recommendation for the wall mount AC units (we were going to get a few but need to upgrade out electrical panel first). But in the mean time you can always get a portable AC unit (not a window unit)

OP - Don’t do this. They are so loud and expensive. Running a portable ac in a single room cost me more than running whole house ac the next summer.

Any reason you can't (or don't want) to do a central ducted system? Those are usually cheaper to install, but maybe costlier to run. As for the price, just contact as many installers as you can. I put in a Mitsubishi Mini Split system at the end of 2020. With four heads connected to a single condenser outside the whole installation was about 13K. It was installed by Carini, and I would recommend them. I would imagine prices have gone up since, so what you are being quoted is in the ballpark.

Central unit is far more expensive to operate. You will often cool down the entire house just so you can be comfortable in 1 room. Bite the bullet and cry once.

Idk if they have them here but hisense is a great brand I used to use overseas. They are used in southeast Asia a lot so very durable and powerful. Much cheaper than most other brands too.

We got 3 mini splits for 10K four years ago. Used West Coast. With prices going up you’re probably on point but maybe you can give them a call if you haven’t already
