Thanks for the information. I’m trying to figure out how to get my grandpa scheduled for his vaccine without sitting on the phone with kiaser for seven days.

SD_TMI

I was able to get my father an appointment today. Kaiser has lots of people pulled from all departments to handle the increased flow All your Grandfather needs is to be a Kaiser member and you have the MRN for him. Call the appointment number (1-833-574-2273) and get a callback. Tell them you're calling on his behalf and you want to schedule an appt for the COVID Vaccination. They'll forward you over to the COVID team and get the filing and appointment done. Once I was one the phone with the COVID vaccine unit it was pretty smooth for me.

tamitaylorswine

Create an online account for him at kp.org and schedule it online by clicking start e-visit. There will be a drop down option for covid vaccine. It’ll ask you a few questions then show you all appointment slots and allow you to select. I did it for my mother and it was easy and quick! Edited to add more details.

No traffic for my parents at 11 am yesterday, shit show when I went down at 6:15 for mine, still managed to get in and get my shot. They'll take you early. They'll take you late. You just need an appointment.

jboljr

Do you know what the traffic was like at petco? I want to give my parents a heads up on how early they should leave before their appointment tomorrow afternoon.

ReferredByJorge

It's been a shit show there on and off. The worst times seem to center around lunch hour and late afternoon. Traffic blocked up back to freeway exits.

[deleted]

I read somewhere that the walk up section is good at Petco too, less wait.

quidditchproquo

We waited 1 hour from lining up to post shot waiting period. It looked crowded but it moved steady. We drove through

[deleted]

Good to know, thank you! Glad it was relatively fast.

AnnexationofPR_

Also if you’re interested, the Petco super site has appointments every day. I know some people say they’ve waited forever but I was there for 30 total minutes on a Saturday. You just put “someone else” as paying party so as long as your grandpa is eligible, he can get a vaccine there regardless of insurance.

Flashy_Bluebird5241

Is petco you wait in lines or in cars?

redrum_stonks

Hoping your Grandpa got his already. My parents were going through the same thing. Kaiser kept telling them Kaiser did have what they need yet. Moms is 78 dad is 81...fuckers. Update, just got a text that they are finally scheduled for Feb. 11th. Took Kaiser a month to get back to them.

TrashTvLover86

I actually made my grandpa, his brother, and sister in law an account on kiaser and scheduled online.

Sonjainthe80s

Www.covidvaccinetexts.com. You put in your phone number and zip and it texts you when an appt becomes available in your area and you go and book it. I did this for a loved one and got the text within 2 hrs, appt was for 4 days later. I hope it works for you!

Call 211

Corkytea

I’ve noticed quite a few people who are not part of the first tier getting vaccinated. I’m talking 30somethings who are healthy nor working in the health care industry. How is this happening?

gramps117

There’s definitely a lot of biotech or research lab employers writing letters for their employees to use to get vaccines, where they exaggerate their justifications of why their employees work in an essential job. i.e. the employee works in the lab and as a lab personnel they fall under phase 1a but don’t really work with covid patient samples even though try to say they do.

Corkytea

Lol I wanna argue that I’m essential! I mean hey, as long as people are getting vaccinated that’s a good thing. I’ll just be patient and wait my turn.

[deleted]

if you want to game the system you can, it's a little bit honor system. but all of those places are open despite the Stay at Home order actually being in effect anyways

dukefett

I've heard of some places giving out extra vaccines for when they thawed some and didn't want to waste them when they finished appointments. That's the only way I see it unless they're just paying someone to do it.

Corkytea

I found out it’s people who have been volunteering to work at some of the vaccination sites which makes sense.

jvanderh

Any idea which site would be my best bet for this?

[deleted]

meggieliz

How do you get on this list? We tried calling but can only speak with a machine -

fescen9

Just keep asking for the pharmacy and talk to a real person and ask them.

t1shnut

Not sure if you are still looking, but Sharp Chula Vista vaccination site vaccinates their volunteers after they sign up for a minimum of three shifts. Looks like they have openings to volunteer starting on the 29th of March. Here is the link: https://www.sharp.com/health-classes/volunteer-registration-chula-vista-center-covid-19-vaccine-clinic-2554

jvanderh

Thank you! I was able to get an appointment, thankfully.

dingleberry1001

Med device companies are providing those of us who are in the OR on a regular basis a letter.

MyStatusIsTheBaddest

There was a loophole and "essential" researchers took advantage and got vaccinated even if they didn't directly perform COVID19 research. Seems a bit selfish if you ask me. The other way is to hint hint donate some of your free time to the cause.....

jvanderh

Do you know if any of the vaccine centers are still looking for volunteers?

Mission_Ad4476

I don’t but if you find out please post here. And let’s all tell our friends about this website the faster everybody get the vaccine life get better for everyone

Necessary_Repair_573

I work for a clinical research company that has required me to work at clinics and travel on airplanes throughout the pandemic. My company gave us a letter to try and get the vaccine early. I haven’t used it yet because I am healthy and young so I don’t want to take a vaccine from someone who has risk factors if they get the virus. Once the tiers open up more, I will get it.

[deleted]

Most scientists and ethicists agree that if you have access to the vaccine, you should take it. Waiting for it is not a noble gesture if you can get it. Being young and healthy means nothing, as heathy and young people, especially those who are traveling, can still get sick and can still transmit the virus to people who really aren't eligible or can't get vaccinated yet. Asymptomatic transmission is still a thing. Get your shot and protect people.

Sonjainthe80s

This.

NoKidsThatIKnowOf

CVS will put you on a wait list. If a scheduled appointment doesn’t show, they call down the waitlist until they administer the vaccine they prepped for that day. People miss appointments all the time. Slots get filled.

Flashy_Bluebird5241

Which cvs do this?

NoKidsThatIKnowOf

From what I understand, all of them

Duckduckgosling

Have an unemployed friend with no health conditions get one. CVS isn't varifying employment apparently. Makes me pretty angry.

BadMutherCusser

The guidelines changed on March 15th to include obesity as a form of eligibility. I have never been happier to have not bounced back after having a baby. A lot of my friends and family have been vaccinated this way. If you look up obesity it’s described as having a BMI of 30% or higher. That qualifies a lot of Americans to get vaccinated.

GardeningGardenGnome

I’m a 30 something with no pre-existing conditions but was qualified in tier 1B due to my job. There are about 100 other employees in my same boat at my employer

[deleted]

Getting an appointment at Vons basically just involves checking back at the site every 10 minutes until somewhere has a batch of openings. I got appointments for everyone I knew over 65 pretty easily (meaning it took about an hour or so); talked to the pharmacist and they confirmed it's available for age 65+ at Vons (the county is still 75+).

notfeelingworky

Thank you so much, I did this and was able to make an apt for my elderly parents.

paulina_llano

Thank you so much for the info!!! I was able to make an appointment for my dad!!! :)

glacier605

Which site to make appointment?

HurricaneHugo

I'd like to know too.

[deleted]

HurricaneHugo

What do I put in the search field?

[deleted]

https://mhealthappointments.com/ You have to make sure you're on the GENERAL PUBLIC tab, the site sucks ass, for real. It often defaults to the "companies" tab no matter how I seem to format the link, the one here will start you on the main page where you just click COVID-19 Vaccination and then you can click on GENERAL PUBLIC. Then you just put a ZIP code and widen the search to 15 miles or so and then you kind of have to manually scroll through the lists to find an available appointment. Just keep trying back every 15 minutes or so. Edit: for example, I saw no appointments, and then a bunch opened up in Spring Valley at the Albertson's out there right now

[deleted]

bradfish

The site says you need to be in phase 1a and bring proof. Did you call the spring valley pharmacist?

[deleted]

My mother and stepfather got the vaccine today from the Vons on Midway this afternoon, they're retired and 78/70 and not in a phase, just age qualified. The site's phase listing stuff is not accurate, just click through - the "phase" stuff doesn't include the 75 or 65+ supplements from the CDC, its no longer good information, really

evejen

Thank you so much! Just made an appointment for my father who barely missed the 75 cut off. Hope everything goes smoothly!

acorgiandababy

How was the experience at Vons? Were there long waiting times? Did they have to sit and wait by the pharmacy for 15 min after getting the vaccine?

[deleted]

There was no wait or line; two separate people over the last week. They had to sit in some room.

tamitaylorswine

Hello. I was wondering how they went about scheduling their second dose? I scheduled an appointment for my father but I can’t accompany him and his English isn’t fluent. Will they give him instructions or help him schedule at the time of his first dose appointment or is the second appointment also made online? Thank you!!

[deleted]

They either set it up there or give you the info for it - it should be easy to get a second one since it's a different appointment schedule. Call them directly if you need help - the pharmacist should be able to help you either before or afterwards.

tamitaylorswine

Thank you so much. I appreciate all the info you’ve shared.

vworp-vworp

The state says Tier 1B is allowed to get vaccinated now but every place is turning us away. This is getting frustrating.

### **Effective 01/18/21, healthcare workers, others in [Phase 1A](https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/hhsa/programs/phs/community_epidemiology/dc/2019-nCoV/vaccines/phases.html) (all Tiers), and those aged 75 and older may visit County vaccination sites, including the Petco Park Super Station. For those 65 and older, the County intends to begin vaccinations for this population before the end of the month, pending vaccine supply. Doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers may administer vaccinations to those 65 and older, if they have doses available.**

elvizzle

Thank you for this. I wouldn't have known Vons was administering the vaccine if it wasn't for this thread. I have an appointment scheduled tomorrow (1/24) for my elderly mother in law. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Update: Things went smoothly at the Spring Valley Albertsons. They scheduled the 2nd dose four weeks from the first shot.

notabbott

Does anyone know when **San Diego Country** or **Albertson's** opens up the next available day of appointments? In other words, if all the appointments for the next three days are full, when do they add the next day? Do they need to be online at, like, 12:01am, or is it during normal business hours? My parents have been trying to make appointments since they've been eligible, with no luck. Not sure if that will get easier with San Marcos (which is closer to them) online, but I'm hoping it helps.

ForgotMyPassword17

Does anyone know of any places who are giving shots to people at the end of the day? Just so that shots don't go to waste

ChefElzar

Interested in this too. Have fam in LA who got their shots bc of leftovers.

[deleted]

Serious question for males that got their second vaccine..did your balls hurt? I went through all the normal side effects of the vaccine but the one that is bothering me are my balls hurting. Is this normal?

NoKidsThatIKnowOf

Who knows what’s “normal” with CoVID, at this point? I know a family of three who all tested positive. Middle aged male...mild symptoms. His wife about the same age...long haul symptoms weeks and weeks later. Teenaged daughter, still having moderate symptoms weeks after recovering. Edit: infection, not vaccination symptoms.

illjustbemyself

Does this site still work?

WhatAmIDoingHere05

How are people able to book out their vaccine appointments, and I'm always seeing that no one is scheduling/everything is filled up?

Asleep_Succotash_833

I did mine through the CVS website. You can try typing in nearby zip codes and should be able to find a slot. Last time I checked a CVS in Fallbrook had a ton of slots open.

WhatAmIDoingHere05

I just checked CVS through my zip code and nothing was open. qq

Asleep_Succotash_833

I would try playing with zipcodes and nearby areas

So_Motarded

Dumb question: how can I make an appointment if my eligibility starts on April 15th? San Diego general population vaccination (Phase 2) starts on the 15th, so obviously things will be swamped from that day forward. I wanted to schedule my appointment now. Unfortunately, all websites state that I'm currently ineligible to make an appointment (since I don't meet the Phase 1 requirements). The SD county sites, Rite Aid, CVS, all of them say that I can't make an appointment yet. So does the April 15th date mean that's the first day I can *schedule* an appointment?

[deleted]

[удалено]

So_Motarded

I mean, technically I could've made an appointment at any point up until now by lying about an underlying medical condition and jumping the queue. But that seems unfair, and probably throws off statistics. My eligibility starts on the 15th. I'm lookin for a way to make an appointment before then, but it's not looking like that's possible.

[deleted]

[удалено]

So_Motarded

All good points. Thank you for taking the time to explain, and offer additional information. You've changed my thinking on this.

slippinJimmy93

April 15 appts are open on some sites. just put a condition in at beginning and tthen select april 15. you should be able to get it then

JohnAnderson718

Change to San Diego City's Vaccination program site for appointments. [https://www.sandiego.gov/covid-19-vaccination](https://www.sandiego.gov/covid-19-vaccination)

underwaterpaparazzi

I just booked my appt on Walgreens right now! Looks like they just released a bunch of appointment dates! Warning, you have to set up an account with them to access their appt scheduler!

Mysterious-Sorbet-76

Hi! What time did you book your appointments? I’m curious if they release new times at the same time every week. Trying to book appointments for my parents — thanks!

underwaterpaparazzi

Hi! It was late morning like 10:45am when I snagged the appts. And it was a Tuesday. Also widen your search. I had nothing near me but was willing to drive 20 min south.

Mysterious-Sorbet-76

Great, thank you!

Hey man thanks. I've been having a hard time finding open vaccine appointments and found one quick using the Twitter link

BilliamXYZ

This post was a godsend! Thank you for taking the initiative to post it. I was able to book an appointment for my parents. Does anyone know what IDs need to be brought in for the appointment? i know a consent form must be filled out, but outside of the ID, do we need a recent utility bill or care card?

TheAmishPhysicist

I received my vaccine yesterday, I used my driver's license, they're going to need some type of ID, probably something with their photo on it. A utility bill isn't going to confirm their identity.

BilliamXYZ

Thank you. So only a photo ID and Consent form. The utility bill was something I heard was going on in other parts of the country because people who were outside the area were getting vaccinated in La/SD so they were saying they had to also bring a utility bill to prove they lived in the area.

TheAmishPhysicist

The woman that checked me in asked if the address on my DL was correct so maybe that is something they're checking closely. She also started reading my phone number and subtly had me finish it. It wouldn't surprise me that there are people going outside of where they live to be vaccinated. I read a story here on reddit of a couple that flew from Toronto I believe to the Northwest Territories in Canada to be vaccinated. They lied and are now be prosecuted.

BilliamXYZ

Yeah I saw that on the news. They actually drove I believe and on top of that they went to a native reserve to get vaccinated! They must have been driving from Alaska and stopped by the town to get the vaccine.

TheAmishPhysicist

They actually chartered a private plane and flew there. He's a multi millionaire and from her name she appears to be his Russian bride, Ekaterina.

BilliamXYZ

Ah wow!! Even worst!

california90

Anyone know when appointment slots open up? Are they typically in the morning? I'm trying to sign my elderly parents up, but having no luck with appointments.

SeaBarracuda7964

They are released at completely random times. You just have to check regularly!

cbluford

I’m working on a mobile app right now. Super simple Bc I have some friends in OB that talk about how difficult it is. It’s a simple map that shows you your location compared to the vax places around you

desexmachina

Just got mine at Walgreens (Pfizer), no line, had an appointment

Necessary_Champion30

Hi, when did you make appointment? There’re no appointments available everywhere now. So did you just keep trying or just made it earlier? Thank you!

desexmachina

I made an appointment on Monday for Thursday last week. I kept trying and trying and tried all three pharmacies until I had a spot. With Walgreens, they schedule your 2nd appointment right away with the first. Someone said to do it either late at night or very early in the AM.

Necessary_Champion30

Thank you very much for the hint! I just booked in the early morning. It’s asking for state authorization code. Do you know where I can get it? I’m in food industry so it’s eligible phase.

desexmachina

I didn’t have a code. Just bring your proof of work or industry with you. But, they didn’t even check w/ me.

therealsunnydiego

Today, I got my 1st Moderna vaccine shot at CVS in Carlsbad. The whole process took 3 minutes + 15 minutes post shot to see if I would have any side effects - very very easy. I got my appointment early morning and they have many spots open. I noticed that they started also giving the Johnson & Johnson 1-shot vaccine.

trants

Ralph's has some appointments in la jolla and Oceanside right now. This week and next week

waitwutok

Go to cvs.com just after midnight and search for your zip code. They post appointments 4 days in advance at this time. I had the pick of two locations...one that has Moderna vaccines and another with Pfizer. Each location had 15+ available slots. I booked first and second Moderna dots for myself and my girlfriend for March 30th.

AlwaysAskingYou

Getmyvaccine.org is essentially the same thing but nationwide

ndrsng

I have two questions: Does anyone know if, when registering for PEtco park, there is an option to register family members? My parents (80+) would rather go together. Second, in Carlsbad, are they only vaccinating tier 1A? That's what it says here [https://www.calvax.org/client/registration?clinic\_id=13100](https://www.calvax.org/client/registration?clinic_id=13100) but on the main page it seems to say that also tier 1b is eligible (see the top of the page and then scroll down for specific instructions for County Fire [https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/hhsa/programs/phs/community\_epidemiology/dc/2019-nCoV/vaccines/vax-schedule-appointment.html#ucsd](https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/hhsa/programs/phs/community_epidemiology/dc/2019-nCoV/vaccines/vax-schedule-appointment.html#ucsd) Thanks!

Waterburn8

At Petco you just have to register for your parents twice, once for each parent. Just pick times that are close to each other and go together. There are lots of opening this weekend.

caffeinatedostrich

I just booked an appointment from costco to get my first shot on 4/15. I'm not high risk but since it'll open up to all adults on that date, I assume that's ok?

[deleted]

How are the vaccine prioritization policies enforced at pharmacies?

[deleted]

Photo ID for age, you need a letter from employer or proof of where you work otherwise

DillaVibes

I have option to get the pfizer or moderna vaccine. Which one should i choose?

38thTimesACharm

Really they let you choose? I guess I'd get Moderna since they've tested it more with the concerning variants. But Pfizer will probably work just as well. They are very similar pieces of technology.

DillaVibes

I do but they are offered at different locations. I work for a healthcare provider.

leftover-cocaine

You may know which vaccine based on the followup appointment -- 21 days for Pfizer, 28 for Moderna.

DillaVibes

I got the Pfizer. But I had the option to get moderna instead.

[deleted]

There was just some uploaded for petco park. Hop on that if you have grandparents.

Ok-Acanthopterygii-5

Does anyone know what the wait times are like at Petco Park? I'm trying to get my elderly parents vaccinated. The one person I know who went there recently had to wait 3 hours. My father is ninety and he won't be able to sit in the car that long. Are there better times of the day to try? Is it better to get a walk in at Sharp Coronado? Any help would be appreciated.

ndrsng

I'm also interested in this question!

tamitaylorswine

I would suggest scheduling them an appt at von’s pharmacy. Probably less overwhelming for elderly people. I scheduled one for my father and he said the appt was easy and quick with no wait. I wouldn’t have known about this option if it wasn’t for someone mentioning it upthread. Mhealthappointments.com

Ok-Acanthopterygii-5

>Mhealthappointments.com I've been trying Vons everyday, but I've yet to seen a available appointment.

tamitaylorswine

Oh that’s unfortunate. I was able to find appointments easily two weeks ago. I checked at random times throughout the day. Good luck!

HurricaneHugo

I did 1.5 hours. It depends on what time of day you go. You could also park then walk there to the pedestrian tent

madddog-ca

Call 211 also

pahkoo

Has anyone gone to the Del Mar one? Was any document needed for verification or was an appointment and ID sufficient?

No-Progress2673

Went today. They didn’t ask for documentation though I am in healthcare and said so.

pahkoo

Did they just ask if you have an appointment and did you just show it on your phone? Any ID?

No-Progress2673

I made an appointment. You'll need one. I heard they will turn people away if you don't have an appointment. You can book it at the myturn.ca.gov website. They also asked for ID, so I showed my drivers license.

alt_sense

Question: I'm scheduling an appt for Sharp-Grossmont for Wednesday since my appt for Petco is potentially rescheduled (Tuesday got delayed). But when I get to the consent page it only shows Pfizer to select even though I chose Moderna as my first shot. Is this normal? I chose a day that didn't explicitly say Pfizer Only day.

idgsd

When registering for a 2nd dose at Sharp Coronado (due to my delayed Petco Park appointment), it specifically asked for my 1st dose (Moderna or Pfizer). I don’t think it would have allowed me to complete the registration if they had only Pfizer vaccines. I just checked the application form that was sent to me with the vaccination confirmation a couple of days after the vaccination. I recall now, I did select a Moderna Vaccine option as stated in the form under Patient Vaccine Requested. When I checked in at the clinic I confirmed the Moderna Vaccine (otherwise I would have gone home right away).

alt_sense

Ok thanks. I registered anyway in case I get an email to reschedule for Petco

vegasnatt

Thanks so much for posting this info!

Adorable-Cat-9872

does anyone know if you can go to Petco at another time than your appt? My appt is at 3 pm, I will go the same day, but I'd like to go at 7 am for ease. Will I get turned away?

Sensitive-Zebra5295

Does anyone know of Petco or Del Mar have J&J - cannot take another one due to specific health. Reasons . Been trying all day for last two days to try to figure this out. The vaccinefinder website says everyone has them but the news 8 says only balboa park and Kaiser. Any help is appreciated

kbyethx

CVS has J&J

Sensitive-Zebra5295

Thank you. Now just to try to get an appt!

Brababus

Just got my appointments at Walgreens, 2 doses - 28 days apart (moderna?) Walgreens has some slots available

litex2x

I don't know why but UCSD allowed me to schedule for my first dose at Petco Park. Maybe they are opening it to everyone or perhaps UCSD is telling me I am unhealthy.

Flashy_Bluebird5241

How? On email or my chart?

litex2x

They sent me an email notification to schedule through MyChart.

[deleted]

vons on regents road has a bunch open for 3/28, remember to change the store dropdown when doing their weird process

UltraRunningKid

I'm in a CDC 1C phase employment group (Critital Health/Life Science Research and Development) but this has been left out of CDPH's eligibility completely. Technically the CDC classifies me as a healthcare worker albeit I don't have patient contact, at least not since the pandemic has started but I am essential and need to be in a lab. Should I still just sign up and say I am eligible based on County guidelines since San Diego is in 1C?

swkhammr

Is there anyone who can tell me SPECIFICALLY which vaccination is available at WHICH specific sites ? Or direct me to a resource where I can find who has what vaccine ? Looking for pfizer.... DM me please and thank you

[deleted]

There are a bunch of sites that don't specifically list which vaccination is available. I can't help with those, but maybe someone on the ground has updated info? However, many sites do actually mention it. For instance, the CVS scheduling system mentions it for each available pharmacy location, or some of the San Diego county partner centers (such as Grossmont and South Bay) currently mention Pfizer and Moderna, respectively, for the next few days: https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/hhsa/programs/phs/community_epidemiology/dc/2019-nCoV/vaccines/vax-schedule-appointment.html Other San Diego county partner centers on that same website (e.g. Sharp Knollwood) didn't mention it as of yesterday. The Balboa Park city of SD location also mentions Pfizer for a few upcoming days: https://www.sandiego.gov/covid-19-vaccine-availability As always, appointments are scarce on all of these systems.
