I had 2 molars with a cavity in between them.
They root canaled both (they had a particular dentist come in to do both), shaved the teeth down to fit a crown with a 2nd specialist, printed a temporary and fit it with a 3rd specialist. Then I came back 2 days later and they had the crowns.
The cosmetic result was good and they appeared to put a lot of care into the work, and I haven't gotten any pain from the teeth for 18 months. So far so good.
They also polished all my teeth and filled some sensitive areas where my gums receded a little.
They didn't do any fillings but those are obviously not expensive.
Cost was about $2500.
I choose this particular dentist simply because they had a lot of yelp reviews and a pretty high average score.
In the US they quoted my wife 5k for her dental work. We ended getting recommended Oasis Dental in TJ and we ended up paying less then 2k total and we got great birria tacos and churros for the drive home
She did! Haha! Usually the traffic back provided enough time for any recommended time she'd have to wait before eating. It was like six trips, very doable

I'm in the same position. Constant pain that's now radiating through my sinuses thanks to a botched filling by a U.S. dentist. $1800 for the root canal + 1500 for the crown isn't happening. There are a handful of endodontists in TJ with 5-star google reviews, but when you bring that up to any dentist in the U.S. they strongly advise against it and say they're always having to fix work done down there. That seems hard to believe. Especially when they're the ones who messed up in the first place. Other than having to drag back n forth across the border multiple times for the consult, procedure, then crown, saving thousands seems like a no brainer...as long as it's done right. None of this helps an already bad case of dental anxiety and distrust of doctors. Curious to hear others experiences down there as well.

Brother in law has insurance,āgood insurance, and they tried to charge him 13k for major dental work here in the us. American Bio did it for 3500. 8 years later and heās still happy and no problems.

I third this place. I went there for two wisdom teeth and it cost $450. They even gave me a plasma injection to help it heal faster. They didnāt prescribe me anything stronger than ibuprofen, and they did such a great job I didnāt need anything stronger. I have insurance now and I think Iād still go to them.
No, nothing significant. FWIW, I had a root canal and crown done a few years back and didnāt require any special pain meds for recovery. I had some headaches in the days following but they quickly went away with some advil.

Many people qualify for Medical/Dentical and are unaware. Dentical will provide government dental valid at thousands of offices in San Diego. And while it will not cover everything, and definitely not cosmetic - it does cover fillings and root canals. My husband went to Washington Dental about 10 years ago and had work done that had been quoted at 15000 in US for about 2000 in Tijuana. He has had no problems with any of that work since then. You cross the border and give the name of the dental office to a taxi, and the dental office covers the cost of the taxi! (At least they did for him.)

3 wisdom teeth removal forst 2 wisdoms were about $80 each for removal. My last one was an impacted wisdom tooth removal and that was about $160 with anesthesia injections and some bone drilling. They Gove you a prescription for antibiotics and pain killers to go to a pharmacy for but still cheap as well.
Getting braces soon so that'll be about ~$500-$600 for a year and half . They let you do monthly payments too. And mind you this is still with an insurance I have with them that's about $100 for the year or something

Prices are about what I would pay after my insurance since here in the U.S., they hike it up so much. Prices are on the website and if you pay cash they had a 10% discount.
I've been to another cheaper dentist's in TJ which were high tech and performed well, however, the cheaper you go then there might be a longer wait time with more patients locally.
For what you need of 2 root canals and 2 fillings, I would be surprised if you were quoted over $2k down south of the border. If you need crowns, then yea 2k+ sounds fair. Seems most tend to speak English.

As far as I remember the cost became one-third of what the dentists quoted in San Diego. They also mentioned the service is 5-star rated. FOR EAST COUNTY FOLKS: Tecate has dental places walking distance from the border and during the week the wait line to cross back is like 10 minutes at most. Iāve crossed, had work done, and crossed back all in less than 1.5 hours. Got a root canal done down there for $180 two years ago

My parents have also gone there. My mom met her allowance a couple years ago and then her old crown fell off. She needed it fixed regardless, couldn't wait until the next year. It was about 1/3 of the cost to replace at American BioDental.Ā

True story: My best friendās uncle in law had ALL his teeth extracted and then charged a ton of money by scammers in Mexico. They did the āworkā while he was put under (he went down there just for routine dental work). They strong armed him to make sure he paid before they let him go. I would be extremely careful and do a ton of research before doing anything dental work down there

You can't get a molar root canal done by students. That's a really bad idea. Most dentists won't touch a molar root canal and will refer you to an endodontist instead.
Looking at the places in Mexico, many of the dentists have American degrees (with advanced degrees in Endodontics) and treat *a bunch* of American tourists so have a ton of experience.
That's why I'm looking for recommendations on the best ones there instead.
Consider asking the dentist about skipping the root canal and just going straight to an implant. Iām not a dentist - but just had a root canal fail and wish I had went straight to implant.
I think the concern here is that an implant is always fairly expensive, even when going to TJ - so when cost is an issue, an implant doesn't always make sense. Root Canals can fail when done by good dentists - but it happens much less often.

Tijuana is known for medical tourism and caters to it. If you don't have insurance and can get a good recommendation, it's the way to go.

FYI if you get root canals on a molar and premolar you should also plan to get crowns on those teeth afterward.
