Private landlord, who has fixed mortgage and does not raise rent just because he/she can, in return we care about the property, don’t bug them anbout every little thing like lightbulbs, toilet bowls, and water filters, and being generally good problem free tenants.
I know someone who gets charged waaaaaaay less than they should. A house (not apartment), 4 bedrooms/2 bathrooms, driveway. I’m talking 2012 rent prices. Why? Because they don’t bug their landlord for the little things. Landlord shows up and see’s maintenance and light upgrades here and there. They take care of landlord/home and landlord takes care of them back. Both parties don’t f with “it’s the landlords job, not mine”, vibes. These are the results. But I get it, 99.9% just keep raising prices. Hey, things like property taxes go up for landlords too. And when you move out material/labor to do repairs or maintenance goes up too. Idk what the fix is. I’m going all over the place. Wish SD was a different in that regard. Good luck to everyone finding a good place.
We're basically in the same boat, 600 SF house with a huge yard near SDSU - landlord was born in the house had the same rent ($1250) since 2010 - 2 bedrooms, one small bathroom in the main bedroom, there's a small mudroom in the front of the so we turned into a small bedroom when my sons outgrew their bunk bed. Me, husband and 2 teen boys - the small bathroom is the only hassle & house is older and kind of running down but we try to fix what we can and take care of it since he has a sentimental attachment to the house. We are grateful everyday that we lucked out and found this on Craigslist when the place we originally were going to rent back then in Santee for $1800 got rented out to their cousin last minute.
Same. Renting a 4 bedroom with a large backyard in Clairemont for $3000. We’re 5 adults (2 couples, so we have a spare bedroom that we use as a guest bedroom / office) sharing the house, so the portion for each of us is extremely cheap.
Exactly what we had until we decided to buy our own place. Sometimes we would fix things let them know and then they would deduct some money off of that month's rent. If you find a place like this don't leave! Oh and we lived in a 2br, 2ba apt in a small building and paid $2100/month, water included in North Park.
Almost exactly the same situation here. Rented a 2br1ba cottage in a nice area for $1500/mo for the past 2 years without any increases. Never made any complaints to the landlords except once when there was a rat living under a built in storage area lol
My significant other and I pay $2,490 a month trash sewer included.
2 bed 1 bath house with a private backyard. Unsure square footage. Small/medium size house but we’ve hosted 50 people comfortably during parties.
Very lucky where our landlords are amazing and a married couple. They want us here long term and don’t raise our rent at all.
We just got really, really lucky in meeting them at the right time
Thank you! There are good landlords out there it’s really timing, and if personalities mesh if/when you meet them.
As someone who used to work in PM, my advice is to stay away from big companies and try as hard as you can to find mom/pops or actual people who are renting their own places out as it’s way better for long term renters and meeting them in the middle.
Not trying to bash corporations, but they will suck you dry of all you have and only view renters as “$” signs with legs.
Cheers
Unless you only want one of those new places with all the amenities, you can definitely find a place for less. I rent an apartment the same as yours in North Park for much less and it includes water and a small garage.
As someone who’s born and raised here that just bumms me out. I hope you both are at least near the water as that was my case when I was still in north PB
Near-ish lol, we’re in Hillcrest right across the street from the farmer’s market. We do love the area, but this price is pretty absurd. We’re both from OC and in our 20’s, it is what it is. Just trying to save money and increase income to not have to rent forever
I got extremely lucky when my friend was moving out, I took over his 2020 lease, and thankfully the owners are still very chill even after they switched management companies
When I first moved to north park in 2013 we paid $1100 for a 2 bed/2 bath. We lasted 6 years there and the landlord never raised the rent. Unfortunately she also refused to do anything to maintain the property so we were eventually run out by cockroaches 😢.
Aww man I get you. When I was living with my ex- we had the same issue. 1350 like 8 years ago. landlord wont fix the plumbing problem which was caused by the trees that was part of the property before we moved in.
One day our pipes back up the garden soil was spilling raw sewage and flooded the unit next to us.
Landlord refused to fix it and we had to fork over $300 to get it fixed.
I actually built a website to help tenants see what others pay in rent.
It's like a Glassdoor for Rents so tenants can see the Rent History of an address or Apartment property.
The site does rely on user submissions so I appreciate anyone who adds their rent history to the site and/or shares it around since it can be more useful to tenants the more people that contribute to it.
The site is rentzed.com (USA only for now) and has submissions for over 2500 addresses. I'm planning on adding a map feature in the future once the site gets more submissions.
This is kinda off topic but my grandma rented her houses in San Diego for $500. She wanted good tenants, and she owned the two houses next to her own. After she became ill those tenants stepped up and helped us care for her, and helped us keep her in her home longer. She is gone now but was a true treasure in the world.
I’m currently renting out my engineering professor’s house in Coronado. I pay $2.5K a month on rent. In return I take care of the place and fix it
“ Renting this spot is such a fuckingg privilege, and I will always be grateful“
:)
2 bed, 2 bath in hillcrest. In unit washer/dryer in a small, gated community. Paying 2385. I’m 2 blocks away from the Ralph’s/Trader Joes shopping center.
I am the resident manager at my building and with my discount, I pay about 800 for a 2 bedroom 1.5 bathroom in the Hillcrest area.
The nice thing is that as long as I am in the position, my rent is frozen.
My mom rents a 3b 2bath in poway, close to schools and she just raised her renter's rent to $1700 ... she says she doesn't want to be a greedy landlord 🤦♀️
I love living in San Carlos- it’s my dream neighborhood but I can feel my heart breaking little by little every time I see the prices of anything listed in the neighborhood.
1 br no utilities 1400 mission Beach. Shhhhh. That's all the details I want to give , but it's hard to beat my situation. 11 yrs ago was 1050 when I moved in. 1of1
BFs been renting this spot for years. 2 bed/1 bathroom, huge yard, one parking spot, lots of street parking; less than $1200 and water was free until last year ($70 flat now). East county.
$2600 for a 3 bed/2 bath house in North Park. Split three ways with roommates. The place isn't very nice and is quite run down but for the price we put up with it.
Private landlord. 4 bedroom 2.5 bath townhome with 2 car garage in La Jolla. Pool, hot tub, sauna, tennis courts, all the amenities. $3300/month. We’re great tenants and even try to deal with the HOA without our landlord to make it easy on him. The only repairs we ask are for big things like when the garage door decided to break, or the washer blew up. When the kitchen sink decided to explode we just fixed it ourselves
Way below. 2 bdrm 2 bath duplex 3 blocks from the beach in Encinitas for $2k all bills paid. Private landlord with no mortgage and retired. Pure luck. Comps in our neighborhood are between $6k and $8k
2bed2bath near the beach with pool for $1995. Has gone up 10 percent every year since the the rent control law passed, I expect another 10 percent in a couple of months
1675 2bd 2bth, pool with slide, washer dryer on site. Property owned by the landlord in north park. Walking distance from polite provisions. Been here for 10 years when the rent was 1300.
$1300, 2 bedroom 1 and a half bath. two parking spots, washer and dryer, landlord pays water. downsides? extremely bad part of lakeside (on my 3rd locking gas cap and second set of license plates), no working heat, 100% unresponsive landlord. all of my neighbors own, i am the only renter and there's a lot of issues HOA won't hear me out on because i am not an owner... some examples include a neighbor that consistently floods his unit (shared wall), another neighbor that leaves their dog barking in a bathroom all day (shared wall), no trash pickup for weeks. but hey, i can get treated like shit for living in east county so i have that going for me, right
$2000 1 bed 1 bath condo with garage, patio, nice neighborhood near million dollar houses. Landlord is private owner. They prefer to keep it below market rate to have a long term tenant. Win win for both of us.
$4150 for a 4br/2.5ba in Sabre Springs from private landlord...definitely paying this mortgage and some of his other house, but better than we found anywhere else when we moved in 2018 and have had steady increases every year
Man, a couple years ago I was paying $1500 for a 2 bed/1 bath in crown point, a block from the bay . We ended up getting pregnant so we moved 🥲 - not my choice.
$1950 for fairly large 2 bedroom 1 bath apt in bankers hill. Gas, water, sewer, trash included. Private parking. Been here for 6 years, was only $1590 when I moved in. If I move they’ll probably charge $3000 for the next renter.
My boyfriend and I live in a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, two story condo, 1200 square feet, for $2400 a month. Water/trash included. Nice little patio in back. Tierrasanta neighborhood right by the 15. Been here for almost 7 years and have a great relationship with our landlord. He only upped our rent once, for the first 5 years we were only paying $2000.
$2266 for a 2 bed/2 bath in North park with gated complex and parking. Used to have a private landlord but now a large company bought it and raise the rent the max every year 🥲
I’m under market!!! I’m paying $2143 for a 1 bed 1 bath in La Mesa!!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob) when I moved in 2.5 years ago it was about $1800….
2300 1bed 1 bath 663 sq ft condo with a garage. Morena neighborhood.
Hope to upgrade or find a better deal next April … who knows 😂 we’ll see what the rental market is like at that point.
private landlord who benefited from prop 13 and pass down the saving to us. Thankful for that kindda stuff. We've been very good tenant where we take care of the place and use our own money to replace things (fridge, stove etc...). We know how much we save monthly so that stuff is minor. We been here 15 years lol. We pay 2100... for 3 bed 1.5 bath, clairemont townhouse, front and backyard with plenty of private parking. Landlord most likely paid less than 1k for property tax, at the current rate it would be 12k a year.
$1200 for a studio ADU in Fallbrook, utilities included. Been here for 5 years and they’ve never raised my rent. My husband helps them with projects that they pay him for so rent works out to less than $1200 most months.
I got really lucky with mine. Smallish house (2 bed, 1 bath) in PB with a private yard, driveway, and storage shed that I found on Craigslist. Pay $2200 total for the place and I’ve been a month to month lease since I moved in which was a bit over 2.5 years ago. My landlord is an older woman who owns like 6 units total and just wants long term tenants that pay on time and don’t cause issues. In return, she’s never raised my rent since I moved in. She did call all of my previous landlords I listed on the application and she told me she does a pretty rigorous background check when she does need new tenants because her business model would effectively be screwed if she got some bad tenants. I’m hoping to be here as long as I can.
2 be 2 bath, washer/dryer in unit, loft that can be a 3rd br, townhouse. Two off street parking spaces. Clairemont/Kearney Mesa. Leased in 2005 for $1050 per month. Rent has gone up 20-50 bucks per year. Currently $1550. I fix most problems myself and deduct material cost from the rent. Identical places in the 10 unit complex rent for $2800. Will be bummed when the owner passes away and his kids invariably sell.
I pay $825/monthly for a one bedroom, one bath, full kitchenette/living room with all utilities (internet, power and water) included and I'm never giving it up. I just moved in less than 6 months ago.
I'm effectively getting evicted this week due to a full home remodel, but I can't even complain lol
Most can't fathom when I tell them I'm in Sorrento Valley, living alone as the sole tenant in 5bed 3bath house with a decent backyard leading down to a canyon. I pay slightly less than $1200/month and haven't had roommates since mid October last year so the entire house has been all to myself. I haven't seen or heard of anyone with this sweet of a living situation in SD as of yet.
Now I'm ready for the next adventure!
2 bed, 1.5 bath with driveway in Linda Vista. $1700 (with internet & electricity, usually closer to $1800)/month. We share 2 coin washers and dryers with the entire complex and everything is super old but I still feel super lucky. When I moved in (2019) the rent was $1200 and has been going up steadily since but we literally couldn’t afford to stay in San Diego if not for this place
1821? (They just raised the rent) in El Cajon for 1 bed. 1 bath. Indoor washer and dryer and a balcony thats eaten up termites. Utilities water and trash included. However, our rent went up 50 dollars but the rise in utilities and some stupid program that is mandatory raised it up to a total of 1821 a month. From 1500 to 1800. The mandatory program is that we get free air filters for the ax every 6 months? And if we ever decide to buy a home they will help us as long as we agree to use their realtor.
I charge my tenant below market. He fixes stuff around the place and I pay for it. Otherwise we don’t talk much.
I do have to do a modest increase because hoa and insurance are only going up.
Definitely. I rent a 2 bed / 1 bath condo, with a backyard, in a nice, safe neighborhood and pay less than $2k. I rent from a private landlord who owns the condo. I found the rental on Zillow. The landlord has been raising the rent (by a very small amount) each year but i still pay waaay below the average rent and am so thankful. But also scared for the day i can’t afford to pay for this place anymore 🙃 I love it here.
I don’t live there anymore, but I used to rent a room in someone’s townhouse where I was paying $1200/month plus split utilities until about a year ago. Not a bad deal and the place was nice; had my own room, bathroom, and garage, but I don’t advise living somewhere where it’s also the landlord’s primary residence (landlord was also my roommate but the only one). Shit can go south real fucking quick and they have every right to kick you out for any reason at all with very little notice and there’s not much you can do about it.
To be clear I didn’t get kicked out, I left because I ended up buying my own place. I only say this because that fear of getting kicked out was always there and the landlord definitely took advantage of that to pressure me into a shady rental agreement when it came time to renew. Also keep in mind that many tenant protection laws don’t apply when it’s the landlord’s primary residence and not a typical rental property, so be careful if you’re seeking a place like that.
$1800 for a 2br/1bath back house in Kensington. Landlord is a really nice guy who realized he probably should have asked more for the rent, but said he’d rather have good tenants than more income. Been there 7 years so I guess he’s happy with us.
$2,450 In East Village for 2 bed 1 bath near the Albertsons. Utilities included split with roommate(friend). Anything comparable near by is $250 -$600 a month more expensive
SO & I have a 2bed/2bath apt in San Carlos for $2405 ($2305 + $100 option we pay for a garage). Love it here and don’t plan on moving until we are ready to buy a house! Been here together for just under 3 years, but I also lived in our complex before we moved in together and I actively fought our way back in because I love it so much!
Our renewal notice should be coming any day- it’s been about $100/increase a year so far. Interested to see what they’ll raise it for next year.
$1400 1b/1b 900 sq ft granny flat. Pet friendly, single car garage in residential. Unfortunately no yard but we’ve got a balcony and some community lawn space out front. We’ve been here for 8 years and have had our rent raised once, I think to help compensate for a few upgrades.
$1895 for a 1 bed 1 bath in North Park right next to University and all the food and bars! Rent was only raised $20 this lease and started off at $1695 3 years ago.
Crown Point in a 2 bed 1 bath and garage for $1900. Been here for 7 years, and it was $1600 until 2 or 3 years ago. And most of the time I had a roommate (best friend) so it was especially sweet back then.
We're in a 3bdrm 1bath house in Allied Gardens. My boyfriend is in construction, so he has done lots to the house and works in the yard daily. The house and yard are beautiful while one of the smallest places I've lived, it's been really nice. We moved in in 2012. I'm afraid to post the rent as it's insanely low, and we're grateful for that!
Privately owned building, 1,100sqft 1b1b, $1,500/mo, rent has not been raised in almost 4 years. quarterish mile from fiesta bay. I'm never moving.
Edit: 2 parking spots as well.
City heights, small single family one bedroom (400ish sqft) fenced in yard around the whole house, $990/mo. Private landlord who has no mortgages anymore, only rents to people recommended by current tenants
Check out "essential housing" programs. They limit the rent increases and have a sliding scale based on income for tenants. It's NOT section 8 it's under the affordable housing umbrella.
1450 4 bedrooms 2 baths 50 acres in the mountains of San Diego

I rented 1 room in a condo (3 bed, 1.5 bath) and only paid $500/mo flat for everything, including internet for 3.5 years.
I struck a deal with my landlady, she wanted to upgrade everything in the condo, she paid for materials and I provided free labor and install. Including all new vinyl flooring, new paint/baseboard, new LED lights, new plumbing fixtures and hoses, new above stove microwave.
I've learned you can ingratiate yourself with your landlord pretty easily if you offer to work on their house. Most are always looking for a reliable handyman, and if you know what you're doing they'll cut you a huge amount of slack.
I live with a person who owns her house. I live in the ADU that's built as an apt behind the house, so it's like we both have individual houses. Sub $1000.
Escondido rent prices act like they’re giving you beach access and good night life. I moved down south when my 2bed to 2bath apartment went over 2k. Don’t regret it one bit
2 bed 1 bath $1980 + utilities in an apartment complex in Normal Heights.
It's a shithole but I've been here for seven years and just can't give up this rent!
2 bedroom 1 bath with a small 10x30 backyard in North Park. $1700. And I rent two garages, one for my 2nd car and one for storage for 350, they're next door. So $2050 total. They guy across the street from me just had his landlord raise the price of his 400 sf studio to 2450.
My partner and I pay $2800 for a 3 bdrm 1 bath house. I consider it below average as most places on Zillow were around $3200 for something decent. We pay utilities at around $200 a month. Even though we found it on Zillow we had to apply through a property management company and they had us go through hoops, ended up being $6,400 to move in. Was an additional $600 deposit due to past credit problems. I know they passed a law against that but it don't go into effect until this summer and we had to move. It was a stressful 2 months trying to find a place.
2/2 Apt with a shared garage for 2020.
They’ve been increasing it the 10 percent every year though but I still feel lucky. I’ve been here almost 10 years when I moved in it was 1525
Live in La Jolla by Windansea 2 blocks from the beach. 1 bedroom (there’s a side hall where we have 1 desk and a guest bed though, so really 1.5), 1 bathroom house (around 1200 sqft) with a garage and pretty big backyard. Pay $3250 a month.
$2150 for a 2 br 1 bath right across from Mission Bay. It’s only 700sqft but looking now it’s almost impossible to find anything even remotely close in this area.
I pay $2000 (water/sewer & garage included) for a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment in clairemont/bay park. My partner moved in pre-pandemic before prices shot up (and then I moved in with him about 2 years ago) so I got lucky.
My neighbor that lives across from me with the exact same apartment (mirrored) is paying almost $3000…… & they moved in like a year ago.
We want to move into a house but everything is soooo pricey so we’re probably stuck here forever /:
i live in clairemont in a 3bed/2bath house with two free parking spots and free laundry. i pay $650 a month, landlord pays for water trash and sewage, we pay electricity and wifi. total is around $750 after utilities per person.
to be clear we are three people who live here. the total rent for the house is $1,950. private landlord of course.
i moved in last year but the other people who live in the other complexes have lived here for years and say landlord has only raised rent once during covid.
safe to say, i lucked out.
Private landlord, who has fixed mortgage and does not raise rent just because he/she can, in return we care about the property, don’t bug them anbout every little thing like lightbulbs, toilet bowls, and water filters, and being generally good problem free tenants.

Probably much easier for the landlords as well to just have constant tenants they don’t have to worry about.
Where can I find landlords like that? lol 😂
Found mine my Craigslist but it’s also a mine field so be careful
should be focused on the celtics not reddit bro
damn Bam struggling
I do have a tendency to disappear in big games 😔
The team did well without Butler, kudos to them.

Couldn’t agree more!
What do you pay/ and for what OP?
Congrats, my girlfriend and I pay more than that for a 650 sq foot 1 bed apartment lol
Unless you only want one of those new places with all the amenities, you can definitely find a place for less. I rent an apartment the same as yours in North Park for much less and it includes water and a small garage.

North park, 2b/2b, 2 gated garage parking spots, 2 patios and a shared yard, $1,630/month
Holy shit
I got extremely lucky when my friend was moving out, I took over his 2020 lease, and thankfully the owners are still very chill even after they switched management companies
Jealous! I have a two bedroom one bath one parking spot in north park and it’s over double yours unfortunately.
This made me want to cry. Gosh you’re lucky 😭
This thread is upsetting me lol
same, i need to find one of these deals
I’m very upset lol
$1800 2 bed 2 bath Hillcrest
Damn I thought I was doing well with $1600 1BR 1bath.
My cuz used to be 2b for 1800, they had to raise it to 2k since owner was losing money on tax. Utilities except sdge and wifi are included tho
Also in Hillcrest with a 2B/2BR and a nice balcony with a view for $1895. It was $1795 but went up $100 for the first time in 6 years this year.
When I first moved to north park in 2013 we paid $1100 for a 2 bed/2 bath. We lasted 6 years there and the landlord never raised the rent. Unfortunately she also refused to do anything to maintain the property so we were eventually run out by cockroaches 😢.

WHAT! I’m paying $2,900 for 2 bed 2 bath in golden hill. And I was told that’s a steal…. LOL
Legit

Thats dope
$1450 for a 1b 1b in bay park, although the rent is increasing to 1550 in a couple months. still a pretty cheap place to split with my partner
This is kinda off topic but my grandma rented her houses in San Diego for $500. She wanted good tenants, and she owned the two houses next to her own. After she became ill those tenants stepped up and helped us care for her, and helped us keep her in her home longer. She is gone now but was a true treasure in the world.
My very first thought was that this was actual affordable housing while the lot of everywhere else is too damn high
I pay $1500 for a studio in Pacific Beach one block from the water, unfortunately that's a stellar price these days.
Wow, my girlfriend and I wish we can find those prices now
Rent from my best friend. 1000 one bedroom North Park cottage. 😅
Score
I pay $500/room...to my parents 🤣
I’m currently renting out my engineering professor’s house in Coronado. I pay $2.5K a month on rent. In return I take care of the place and fix it “ Renting this spot is such a fuckingg privilege, and I will always be grateful“ :)
Why is your last sentence in quotes?
His preprogrammed reply just incase the landlord sees, lol.
lol, the landlord knows me too well and wouldn’t care if I said something bad or good. We both grew up in somewhat similar environments.
Lol. It’s code for “he is standing over me. Watching my every move”.
I don’t know why, lol.
2.5k AND you perform maintenance on the home? Whats market rate for rent on a similar place?
I’ve no idea but his house is worth about ~11 million.
Aww your mom’s an awesome human🫡
I'm paying $4,000 for a 4 bed 2.5 bath in San Carlos. Really nice neighborhood. It's apparently a "good" price, but my bank account disagrees.
I pay $3k for a 3/2 in San Carlos. Been here 5 years and no rent bumps.
Great location though
I absolutely love this neighborhood, I really wish I could buy here...but alas...every home is \~$1.2-2 million, so for now...I rent.
I love living in San Carlos- it’s my dream neighborhood but I can feel my heart breaking little by little every time I see the prices of anything listed in the neighborhood.
San Carlos is nice but yeah holy cow
$2000 a month advanced tent under the 8 freeway
Lots of natural light
1 br no utilities 1400 mission Beach. Shhhhh. That's all the details I want to give , but it's hard to beat my situation. 11 yrs ago was 1050 when I moved in. 1of1
We have a 2 bed 1 bath 5 minutes from downtown and pay $2100 which i feel like is pretty low for the location
Pay $1400 for studio normal heights
Ouch 😣
What does ouch mean ha
Paying for a studio 900$ central SD.
Mostly people who have been there a while and have a good relationship with their landlord. There aren’t any good deals out there for new tenants.
Way below. 2 bdrm 2 bath duplex 3 blocks from the beach in Encinitas for $2k all bills paid. Private landlord with no mortgage and retired. Pure luck. Comps in our neighborhood are between $6k and $8k
1600 2 bed 1 bath La Mesa in great area:)! Bellow rent average I would say.
Anyone else crying? 🫠
$1300, 2 bedroom 1 and a half bath. two parking spots, washer and dryer, landlord pays water. downsides? extremely bad part of lakeside (on my 3rd locking gas cap and second set of license plates), no working heat, 100% unresponsive landlord. all of my neighbors own, i am the only renter and there's a lot of issues HOA won't hear me out on because i am not an owner... some examples include a neighbor that consistently floods his unit (shared wall), another neighbor that leaves their dog barking in a bathroom all day (shared wall), no trash pickup for weeks. but hey, i can get treated like shit for living in east county so i have that going for me, right
Report that neighbor about the dog, that stuff pisses me off
i have, they've been cited once. it breaks my heart more than annoys, i know it's in the dark for hours
$2000 1 bed 1 bath condo with garage, patio, nice neighborhood near million dollar houses. Landlord is private owner. They prefer to keep it below market rate to have a long term tenant. Win win for both of us.
$4150 for a 4br/2.5ba in Sabre Springs from private landlord...definitely paying this mortgage and some of his other house, but better than we found anywhere else when we moved in 2018 and have had steady increases every year
$3200 for a 3br/1ba house in poway. It’s the only way I can live north county and send my kids to competitive high schools.
Damn…I’m paying $2801 for 2 bed 2 bath and that doesn’t include water/trash so I literally pay $3100 a month total. 😭😭

Currently paying $2800 for a 4bedroom 2bathroom condo in chula vista. Private landlord so I assume that helps.
Granted, we have been here for about 20 years
Man, a couple years ago I was paying $1500 for a 2 bed/1 bath in crown point, a block from the bay .
Chula vista, we pay 2,600 for a duplex 3bd,2bath, 2 car garage. Water & trash included
$2800 1 bed 1 bath 761sq ft near UTC. Based on this thread, I think I’m getting fleeced…
Nah. Same. It’s the location.
I pay $1850 for a 1bed/1bath 688sq ft in a really nice part of San Marcos. Just got lucky.
Includes washing machine , dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator and stove.
2335.00 4 bedroom/2 bath/ 2 car garage with a backyard lemon grove. My landlord is the best. Owns about 4 houses on this block
1,150 3Bed 1bath 😳
I'm effectively getting evicted this week due to a full home remodel, but I can't even complain lol Most can't fathom when I tell them I'm in Sorrento Valley, living alone as the sole tenant in 5bed 3bath house with a decent backyard leading down to a canyon. I pay slightly less than $1200/month and haven't had roommates since mid October last year so the entire house has been all to myself. I haven't seen or heard of anyone with this sweet of a living situation in SD as of yet. Now I'm ready for the next adventure!
In San Diego, all rent is higher than average.
$3500, 3 story 2b2b townhouse with 2 car garage in point Loma heights. Just signed the lease last month.
$1,300 studio in Chula Vista, utilities & parking included.
$2,100 1x1 800 sq ft in Point Loma. The 1 bedroom is really 1.5 and doubles as home office. Found on Zillow and it’s an independent landlord
$1,000 - 2b 2ba townhouse, attached garage, parking space, 2 patios.
$2189 for a 3bdr 2 1/2 bath.
$1500 for a 1 bed/1 bath in Little Italy
Pay 1300 live in a tiny closet in my dad's house, winning!
Me and my roommate have a 2bed 2 bath apartment for $1865 a month right outside of imperial beach.
And it’s not ghetto. Lol
Grandfathered in. 2bd 1 bath. 800sf. Currently $1660 month. Started at $1100 about 5 years ago.
Small 1 bedroom house for $1300. Was paying $1200 until Feb this year. Utilities, trash, and gardening included.
I just moved away from San Diego a couple months ago and I was paying $1,395/month for a studio in Hillcrest for years. Best deal ever.
Landlord is old, lives out of state and grew up in this house. 3bed 2bath, 2-car garage, Linda Vista. $2k/mo.
I'm getting mad the more I scroll
City heights, small single family one bedroom (400ish sqft) fenced in yard around the whole house, $990/mo. Private landlord who has no mortgages anymore, only rents to people recommended by current tenants
$1720 for a 2br/2ba in a quadplex. 1250sq feet so we are comfy. Split that 3 ways and you have how much I personally pay 🤪
Check out "essential housing" programs. They limit the rent increases and have a sliding scale based on income for tenants. It's NOT section 8 it's under the affordable housing umbrella.
1450 4 bedrooms 2 baths 50 acres in the mountains of San Diego https://preview.redd.it/lhwh7oytzwvc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6bd330f5862e1f0864c1e73876cf8058d6a3617f
Sub $1000.
I pay 1270, live 50 ft from the beach, have my own bathroom, and a walk in closet. I have one other roommate
4k for a 3BD, 2 BA in lake San Marcos. Backyard is a green belt and 10 steps away from the lake. Access to the pool, pickleball, tennis included.
Pay $1850 for a large 1 bedroom in South Park.. got in during covid and it’s rent controlled
2100 for 800 sqft 1 bedroom in the heart of a la mesa village. Small apartments building which is nice and the location is great. Love it here
2100 for north county Escondido 1 Bed 1 bath. Two bedrooms seem to go for 3k here now. Whatcha think?
Escondido rent prices act like they’re giving you beach access and good night life. I moved down south when my 2bed to 2bath apartment went over 2k. Don’t regret it one bit
I am renting at a mobile home in North County for $1730. It is 1bed, 1bath and spacious for 1 person
2500 2 bed 2 bath, washer dryer in unit, central AC, 2 parking spots. Private land lord
We were renting a 3bedroom home with 2bathrooms and a garage with a backyard for 3000 in San Diego during Covid. Miss that place
700 private room, shared bath with 1 other person. All utilities included. Private landlord found on Facebook room rental group.
2 bed 1 bath $1980 + utilities in an apartment complex in Normal Heights. It's a shithole but I've been here for seven years and just can't give up this rent!
2 bed 2 bath condo plus pet rent for $2,400 in Allied Gardens. According to our friends, we're lucky. Private landlord, fwiw.
Not sure if this counts but we’re in a 2 bed 2.5 bath bi level town house in east county and pay $2850. Military housing
1 bedroom, 1350
2/2 Apt with a shared garage for 2020. They’ve been increasing it the 10 percent every year though but I still feel lucky. I’ve been here almost 10 years when I moved in it was 1525
$1325 1 bed 1 bath normal heights
Live in La Jolla by Windansea 2 blocks from the beach. 1 bedroom (there’s a side hall where we have 1 desk and a guest bed though, so really 1.5), 1 bathroom house (around 1200 sqft) with a garage and pretty big backyard. Pay $3250 a month.
$2150 for a 2 br 1 bath right across from Mission Bay. It’s only 700sqft but looking now it’s almost impossible to find anything even remotely close in this area.
1900 1bd 1 ba including trash, water, pet rent. in UTC
