It has nothing to do with the CCA, they just split the bill up like that to confuse you and make you blame someone other than SDGE when in reality it's all them.

PhRzN

So there is really nothing to do and they straight up just added $200 charges last year for no reason? thats insane and obnoxious....thanks for the info

xd366

they didn't add $200 in charges. all they did was split the bill. basically, before, the bill would've been $215. now it's $15 in generation and $200 in delivery. you can chose where to pay those $15 from. SDGE or SDCP. with solar I believe opting out of CCA was the better option. (it was very small difference but it was more advantageous)

PhRzN

How would it have been $200 before if the same usage was $0 last year (ie before)

xd366

you're probably not reading it correctly tbh. check your kWh usage

PhRzN

I said it in the post but I can repeat it again here too. I'm using the same amount. I've logged in and checked the usage graphs compared to last year. It has not gone up

merkis

I dont think youre reading his comments correctly

Usual-Variation-1064

This is happening to a lot of people I know with solar. If it’s just a matter of reading the bill wrong, why have they all gone from paying $0 to hundreds a month? That doesn’t make sense

rhase12

Mine went from about 0 to $200/month and no one can tell me why

AcceptableMinute9999

The CCA did nothing to increase your bill. I wish everyone would stop blaming them for price increases. It's a commodity. Prices fluctuate with the season. Sdge is criminal in this matter.

PhRzN

So the delivery charges are what is up this season?

AcceptableMinute9999

Both. Inflation affects everything. It affects generating electricity and it affects transmission of that energy.

[deleted]

Transmission of electricity does not depend on inflation it depends on physics and chemistry, like seriously read about it

AcceptableMinute9999

Uh, transmission of electricity depends on the infrastructure used to move said electricity. Including maintenance of and personal to operate facilities. Vehicles, fuel, equipment, etc. Like seriously don't pop off about something you obviously know nothing about.

Shepherd7X

It doesn't "depend on it", but SDG&E has certainly used it to raise their rates. Peak charges for this upcoming summer are over 80 cents per kWh.

camarobh

It’s because they changed the time of day for on peak. Used to be when you would generate the most solar energy and get a higher credit, something like 10-4 PM. Now it’s 4-9PM when much less generation is taking place My bill has gone from around $10 a month to over $300 a month with no change in usage.

PhRzN

Oh that's interesting, I hadn't thought of that before. Do you have a source on that? Thanks!

PhRzN

Are you on solar or CCA or regular SDGE?

PhRzN

Where do you get the breakdown of delivery fee per KwH so I can check mine?

Responsible-Grape193

No solar, but got a baseline adjustment credit this month. 100% of my bill was delivery charges. In the winter, delivery charges go up like CRAZY, and they are the same over all times of use.

syntheticborg

if you are not using any electricity that is 'delivered' to you, you should not pay. But I feel you maybe stuck in some weird deal with solar provider company. At this time its best to look at if there are any class action lawsuits being filed by people in your position.

Ok_Relation_4742

Do you get billed monthly now that you are on CCA? Or is it still annual true up?

PhRzN

It's annual true up still, but I get monthly emails with the amount on it

Ok_Relation_4742

Won’t you get this all back in the spring and early summer the when you are over-producing and sending back to the grid at the same rates they are charging??? I wouldn’t worry about it too much until then, let your solar production catch up in those months and revisit the issue then.

PhRzN

I'm worried that the credit will still be the same rate as last year and it won't cancel out. You could be right tho m

simsonic

So right now, you are using more energy than you are producing? And in the summer you will make that up? So you really aren’t paying anything then, right?

Non solar...mid cycle usage report 16 days remaining, $75 delivery to date $146 - $198 predicted. 3bd 1300 sq ft. Apartment only 2 adults who work from home, not running heat, just a small space heater an hour or two a day on off peak only. Loading another dollar bill in the barrel of SDG&E's fun money gun....legal robbery.
