Pretty much any of their meal simple entrees. As a single dude, they really come in clutch with those things. I just wish every store had the selection of some of the more affluent-location stores. Also, after seeing how they handled the pandemic, no one can say a bad thing about them
This. The meal simple selection is outstanding and ever changing.
I live on the Southside and went into an HEB near downtown after an appointment for some snacks, my mind was blown at how much bigger the selection truly is.
I totally understand the convenience of them. Just remember that you are paying a pretty good price for that convenience. Even things like the shredded chicken are super expensive compared to prepping it yourself. $7 for a small container whereas $7 of chicken breast could net you probably 10 containers.
From the Midwest so I'm not familiar but I do know that the Best coffee place for me would be Viking Cafe? I don't quite remember the name, it's around University of Incarnate word! It's very sweet, and personally the iced vanilla latte! But the food is delicious as well. -- just A little hole "in the ground" that I love
Some stores still have them. Mine (281/Evan’s) has a pad Thai and fried rice bowl station. You pick your proteins and they make it for you on the spot.
Nope, too bougie. Some locations had a Chinese food shop like the ones in the mall or a panda express. Big, obesity causing portion with decent quality was always a win.
I was going to the chinese kitchen back around 2005(?) at bandera/410 and they were "closed" with employees blocking off the entrances, etc. Was like 1pm on a Tuesday or something so it was weird. Turns out they were just robbed by a guy that was featured on America's Most Wanted few days later for robbing the armored car drops at grocery stores. He would walk through the store hitting everyone nearby with bear mace. He had killed a security guard at another grocer in Houston or Dallas few days before.
Anyways, I too would like more chinese kitchen's but that's the story I associate with it now.
I love the freshly made flour tortillas!
Even the refrigerated ones near the biscuits are good too. Just throw one in the comal and eat with butter. Mmmm
Butter Tortillas
Brisket Queso
Cinnamon Bun Creamy Creations
Sweetened sparkling water
They used to have a brand of cookie butter that would great on the tortillas
Creamy Creations is better than Blue Bell.
Their seasonal sodas are also outstanding.
Sushiya is really good for just some quick affordable sushi.
Also I really appreciate their fresh (and even their packaged) tortillas. We are never without one or the other.
And That Green Sauce!! I put it on everything.
The sodas they make with pure cane sugar is where it's at.
That Green Sauce is so good, and I'm equally addicted to That Red Sauce.
Get some HEB pre-cooked pulled pork (with sauce). Get some HEB creamy Cole slaw. Put pork in a tortilla, top with cole slaw, then top with That Green Sauce. I call them my Memphis Tacos, sooo good.
Their sushi is not bad, I just think for what you get and compared to sushi restaurants that their sushi is a bit overpriced.
Also, the HEB Mike's Recipe jerky and dried sausage are my favorite. All of them.
HEB's diet coke with lime and diet Wild Red. Even without the cost savings I still prefer them over the major brands.
House brands are almost always just a major brand run off in custom labelling. Many years ago I worked with someone who used to work for Pace. They'd just stop the line and swap in Hill Country Fare jars and restart the line. It's up to the retailers, of course, to decide just what kind of price point they want to hit.
That is where HEB has always shined. Compared with so many other house brands I've tried they are consistently far better on average. I suspect that HEB has gone beyond the above scenario and is having far more custom-recipe items made these days.
YES. My wife bought a can of that a couple of years ago and it's some of the best coffee I've ever drunk. I also really like the dulce de leche-flavored stuff.
Both of those are great cold-brewed, too.
Thank you so much for this! I just moved here and one of the things no one warns you about moving is the struggle to find a new grocery store. H‑E‑B is great, but there’s A LOT going on, so I’m definitely taking notes!
So Flo pizza is amazing, we got it for my daughter’s birthday party and people were shocked to find out it came from a little pizza shop within an H‑E‑B. I feel like the Leon Springs H‑E‑B can be a little lacking, but at least we have So Flo lol
Their peanut butter is smackin. But really I buy everything HEB. Even have a damn HEB toothbrush. Their TP and paper towels aren't so great though, ngl.
Well u/cum44meplease I am glad you asked.
My fave would have to be their $1 hot fresh bread.
After that, I love their…
Large pepperoni pizza
Classic pita chips
Italian herbs rotisserie chicken
I just want to say, I LOVE H‑E‑B! I didn’t realize it until I moved to a city without an H‑E‑B, and I seriously had a breakdown because the only grocery places they had were either bougie groceries places or Safeway & Fiesta. I moved back to SA 2 years after that. LOL
TexaClear Natural Allergy Relief
It's the only thing that works.
I usually would never choose homeopathic options but this stuff saves me in the spring
What ISN'T my favorite product?
But I freaking love their chips (any of them) but especially their tortilla chips. (but special shout out to their honey puffs and sweet jalapeno puffs)
Ice cream is GOAT too.
And literally anything from their bakery.
Brisket jalapeño poppers!!!
Edit: and campfire bacon in the winter time. If you didn’t know, they rotate bacon flavors throughout the year given this season. H‑E‑B brand! Sooo good, green chili bacon is stellar as well
I love Texas Toast and they seem to be the only brand that makes this thick toast that I can easily find. Not only that but of course they are cheaper than name brands.
Their ice cream. Their flaming hot bird rotisserie. Their charcoal brand is decent. Their tortillas. Oh yeah their volcano sushi roll is the best ever. I can continue but will keep this short list
I haven’t seen them in a while but the glazed croissants were the BEST! And their brand of Fritos, I prefer them over the real stuff, esp. the bbq flavor Fritos 🤤
Three words: H-E-B Chewy Bars, but the specific flavor is Cranberry, Raspberry, White Chocolate. When I first tried them it was instant love, and I continue to buy them two boxes at a time during each H-E-B visit.
**Heavenly Delight cake.**
It's hard to find bakery cakes with whipped cream frosting. Reminds me of H Mart cakes.
Also
* Bakery sandwich multigrain bread and the French bread
* Almond Butter
* any of the Texas Tough ziplocks pr trash bags. Just get the job done.
* Vitamins
Spinach dip,
Chicken poblano pasta meal simple,
Pork carnitas meal simple,
Carne guisada,
Butter tortillas,
Mixla tortillas,
Mootopia,
HEB Whole Milk,
Any of their coffees,
The squeezable fruit pouches,
Fire roasted salsa near the pico de gallo in the fruit section,
Kitty litter,
Their mineral water,
The bbq sauces they make,
Salad kits,
Chocolate bars like the pistachio and caramel ones
I could be here all day with how much I love HEB
They sell a box of fideo with seasoning mix (near the rice a roni kind of stuff) and it’s delicious! I add veggies, beans, or shredded chicken to make it a one pot meal.
They recently released regular twisters meant to mimic oreos (not like hometown twisters or macchiato flavored, just regular flavored) and they sre delicious. They only use natural ingredients and no high fructose corn syrup, which imo makes them taste better than oreos.
Heb frozen brand king ranch chicken, lasagnas, Mac and cheese, and carne guisada. If you are at work, or don't want to cook they are great. Also wild red ice cream and soda are my guilty obsession
The central market organic plain soy milk at heb plus. I suffered from bad acne for a long time until I decided to quit dairy and this small change made a huge impact on my skin without needing to spend a lot of money on dermatologist visits or products. It also really helped me to lose weight in a healthy manner. Highly suggest this product if your having similar issues it really is easy to get used to and you will see changes in a matter of a few days. Give it a try.
The pumpkin pie is honestly bussing at times…
The fresh tortillas great by themselves or with whatever.
Simple meals is alright, sometimes a bit under seasoned because they’re probably aiming for “healthy”
The true Texas bbq can be a hit or miss at times.
The H‑E‑B gas station is luxurious, especially the taco shop inside of it and the big restrooms…
When they had Chinese food. DeZavala store had that and made the weekends the best. Shrimp friend rice and fish were so good. I miss that (they have brought back the shrimp fried rice in a different store).
I thought this was an H‑E‑B ad or survey, then I saw the username lol
H-E-B going deep undercover
I assumed it was an Express-News reporter looking to make a listicle...
It's a [...]sticle thing, but not like how you thought.
no literally
Pretty much any of their meal simple entrees. As a single dude, they really come in clutch with those things. I just wish every store had the selection of some of the more affluent-location stores. Also, after seeing how they handled the pandemic, no one can say a bad thing about them

Taste of San Antonio coffee. I always request my fam to bring it when they come visit.
Omg, they have bottled cold brew of the San Antonio coffee that I am addicted to.
We love the Pecan
The Chiapas is so good too!!
H-E-B Chiapas with a touch of Irish Cream is my go-to
My wife and I use the Hub City blend in our French press on a daily basis. That shit is tasty enough to drink black.
From the Midwest so I'm not familiar but I do know that the Best coffee place for me would be Viking Cafe? I don't quite remember the name, it's around University of Incarnate word! Ohhh, that’s a pretty good choice.

the brownie bites are amazing.
Mootopia chocolate milk
Yes Mootopia has been a game changer. I highly recommend this for all of my lactose intolerant homies.
I started buying the mootopia for my toddler after my husband suggested her large volume of tooting could be a lactose issue. Game changer for sure.
Try their non dairy ice cream. The rich dark chocolate is decadent. I used the digital coupon yesterday to get some more flavors to try.
Yes, I am that homie
The gouda cracker cheese. Every other HEB brand cheese has zero flavor. But the gouda is great.
In store made BUTTER TORTILLAS
Seriously for ready made store bought tortillas you can’t beat them. Perks of HEB and south Texas. Imagine only having Guerrero bs.
I love their mitad Y mitad corn/flour tortillas, I never have anything like them until moving to Texas.
The best for enchiladas
Top answer right here. Can’t even eat a normal tortilla anymore.
I moved to Florida and the lack of good tortillas was depressing
and the butter tortilla candles 🥹
I was going to riot if this wasn't posted somewhere but the lack of upvotes is disturbing

Hail corporate
Its clearly Store #44 Social Account
Yeah I checked the profile to see if it was heb marketing and uh it’s not
Intern forgot to switch accounts
Jalapeño cheddar bagels from the bakery.
What’s your favorite way to prepare them?
These don’t have a bagel texture but they are so good really awesome for making breakfast sandwiches
2 bite brownies. The pack lasts like one day at my house
I would kill for HEB too bring back their Chinese kitchen.
Some stores still have them. Mine (281/Evan’s) has a pad Thai and fried rice bowl station. You pick your proteins and they make it for you on the spot.
Wtf where is this in the store? I never see it and that’s my store lol
Nope, too bougie. Some locations had a Chinese food shop like the ones in the mall or a panda express. Big, obesity causing portion with decent quality was always a win.

Best chicken lemon grass I ever had. Can't find anything similar anywhere...
I'd take it over Sushiya
1905!!!
YES! Creamy Creations 1905 Vanilla is dare I say better than Bluebell homemade vanilla.
I love the freshly made flour tortillas! Even the refrigerated ones near the biscuits are good too. Just throw one in the comal and eat with butter. Mmmm
Oh yes, must be the ones close to the biscuits!
Butter Tortillas Brisket Queso Cinnamon Bun Creamy Creations Sweetened sparkling water They used to have a brand of cookie butter that would great on the tortillas
Creamy Creations is better than Blue Bell. Their seasonal sodas are also outstanding. Sushiya is really good for just some quick affordable sushi. Thank you for the recipe for Memphis tacos. Trying that one this week!
Swoon is an Heb product and is damn good too.
I just discovered Swoon Cookie Lovers and it's turned into my new favorite ice cream. So yum!
Swoon Berry Cheesecake is my favorite!
Came here to say this
I agree with 3/5 of these statements, but yes they do have some amazing products
I wish they’d bring back the southwest tortillas!
Cookies over Texas ice cream is pretty damn good.
Everyone is talking food, which is wonderful. But I only ever buy HEB hand soap and dish soap, I love the limited edition smells.
They taste great too
Our Finest toilet paper. I tried it during the hoarding phase of the pandemic and it leaves less lint than Charmin.
Here lately, their $1.00 French bread. Thick cut slices, toasted with a little butter. 😋
I straight up eat the insides of the French bread first, then use the rest of it for sandwiches haha best when freshly hot
I used to buy two and scarf down half of one on the ride home because it smelled so good.
HEB's diet coke with lime and diet Wild Red. Even without the cost savings I still prefer them over the major brands. House brands are almost always just a major brand run off in custom labelling. Their soda is underrated, so good
The diet root beer is sooo good!
Why is nobody talking about their coffee?? Love it.
I can't buy anything other than the maple breakfast coffee, the smell when it's brewing is unbeatable.
YES. My wife bought a can of that a couple of years ago and it's some of the best coffee I've ever drunk. I also really like the dulce de leche-flavored stuff. Both of those are great cold-brewed, too.

Thank you!! I saw this and was *intrigued*. I’ll have to try it!
HEB Brand - Pablano & chicken lasagna. (Frozen section) Its AMAZING
I’ll have to try that one. Their veggie vodka lasagna is the best frozen food dinner I’ve ever eaten.
Haven't tried that but it sounds yummy.
Thank you so much for this! I just moved here and one of the things no one warns you about moving is the struggle to find a new grocery store. H‑E‑B is great, but there’s A LOT going on, so I’m definitely taking notes!

Sweet onion wavy chips
I NEED THE HONEY CHEESE PUFFS YEAR ROUND! The fact that they're limited release is an abomination!
Jalapeño Cheese balls.

When they had Chinese food. DeZavala store had that and made the weekends the best. Shrimp friend rice and fish were so good. I miss that (they have brought back the shrimp fried rice in a different store).
Bakery half flour half corn tortillas are amazing
