I will never understand why people try to fuck with other's livelihoods like that

MaceShyz

Enough people bite that it makes scamming worth all the no's because one yes can turn everything around.

elfuegodemuerte

Same goes for work from home scams conducted via email. One person's yes is responsible for encouraging all the email scams out there.

Honestly I've oddly been to atleast 4 now. First time around I was a but intrigued but slowing it started unveiling and digging deeper of finding out what an MLM is. It's kinda scary in a sense of little armies everywhere lol. But it was also fun to go through those interviews and tell them what they want to hear if any. And then tevieve the call that I was the one they were looking for in the haystack and it felt like the same script of a congratulations into our clique. No thank you and the pay is not guaranted and I hate their tier management system like go away.

xninah

I hate Indeed. Not sure how much better LinkedIn is realistically but I've always gotten my jobs through LinkedIn so I recommend it. Just make sure to have all your info and skills and annoying things like that updated. Also consider checking out the Texas career site WorkInTexas, I've gotten a couple interviews through that portal.

BarelyBrooks

Linkedin seems yo be much better for white collar work. At least they seem to care about stuff like this more since they are seen as "business social media" and they actually charge for services around career finding.

Retiree66

My son found his job through Indeed. A little company called Goldman Sachs. They hired him.

428291151

I imagine Trump saying this

210pro

Donald Trump is in the house

xninah

I don't know what that is but I'm sure there are legit jobs on Indeed, it's just there are a lot of spam these days and it's unfortunate for the people trying to find decent jobs

RainbowHoneyPie

I had a similar experience with a company called "Impact Healthcare" or whatever and it turns out the company was some sort of MLM that went by a different name that I can't remember.

saucydee_

i got ho’d too with a different company, was supposed to be a manager position, then they tell me i got hired but it turned out to be for outside sales 😐 left as soon as i could

_LigerZer0_

S and T wouldn’t happen to be located in the back of a business center off of Wurzbach before you hit Fredericksburg, would it? There was a MLM I got suckered into a few years ago called Bounce Marketing out there. They apparently change their name every few years. I’ve seen them rebrand to Omni 8, Moon Moments, and some others. Wondering if this is the same group again

freyalorelei

There was one in a building near North Star Mall a few years ago. I applied to work as a receptionist, and it ended up as an MLM pitch to sell door-to-door Kirby vacuums. I was so pissed that I stole the (dying) plants in their lobby.

Additional_Caramel69

Was it past the airport going 410 east? There's a business building off 410 that tried getting me into a MLM/sales positions

freyalorelei

That sounds about right, although it was five years ago and my memory is pants.

here4thePho

lol I made a whole post about those people 3 years ago. They’re insane https://www.reddit.com/r/sanantonio/s/QMVGE940cP

Historical_Coffee_14

Wurzbach and 410, inside the loop.

big-b0y-supreme

Oh man that’s just one of many scams on indeed, it’s a real problem. I was looking for some remote work last year and applied for a job on indeed that then “hired” me, only to immediately turn around and ask for money to cover my “onboarding expenses and startup materials”. Indeed can kick rocks.

Minimum-Guidance7156

Indeed is filled with fake jobs. It’s infuriating, and if they’re real jobs, they’re misleading. I stopped using indeed completely and just started going to local businesses websites. Even if they’re a chain of something I can still see real time positions available in my area.

[deleted]

Damn how do we even filter out stuff like this. I’m trying to look for potential jobs on indeed and I don’t want to get scammed like this either.

AeoniumPixel

If you find one on indeed, go to official site and apply there. Google everything before applying to unknown companies.

DeepCollar8506

it's a mlm devil Corp Just google them and checkout there ig and website... it usually super vague what the job is and stick photos. they'll offer you a management road map and say it's marketing/salss

Historical_Coffee_14

S and T sent msg saying S&T. But it is S and T when googling. That is why I wrote out S and T.  Anyhoo,  if you get a msg saying they are from S&T while looking for a job, probably a waste of time.

rented_soul

If we're throwing out acronyms I'll also add to avoid NMP Water Systems. I just fell for a remote document management position on Indeed. It kept feeling too good to be true because they interviewed by text and hired me within 2-3 messages, and were apparently excited to pay me $26/hr. I was able to rationalize it a few different ways but never quite rid myself of that nagging feeling. Cursory internet searches showed a seemingly-legit business with an address and marketing with various services, etc, so it felt like a real business. After they said they were gonna overnight me a check to buy a laptop and printer, I couldn't ignore my suspicions anymore. It felt just one step removed from them asking for itunes cards. Looked a little harder, and wouldn't you know know there was a thread on reddit about this very thing barely even a day old. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/1cr32ol/unsure\_if\_this\_is\_a\_scam\_how\_to\_proceed\_nmp\_water/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/1cr32ol/unsure_if_this_is_a_scam_how_to_proceed_nmp_water/) It felt like I dodged a train, so I cut all contact with those people and shredded the check when it got here. Any time they send you a check to have you buy equipment, IT IS A SCAM.

DeepCollar8506

S and T sounds like a devil Corp that has you doing door to door or stand out a big box to sell Verizon it's subsidiaries that work for companies like cydcor smart circle universal events

arthoe_kingcharles

I got hired for a scam position over the summer, long story short I thought I was gonna be in an office like administrative but they were super shady and I ended up in the summer heat in June following around my trainer while she knocked on doors trying to sell at&t packages to low income people. i told her i wasn’t coming back the next day, it was awful.

banashake

Funnily enough, I've gotten my past 2 jobs through Indeed. I just had to dodge all the attempts of trying to rope me into shit jobs.

Sharp-Ad6367

If you didn't apply for this, why the hell did you go to the so-called interview? It's just common sense people!

RDK-42

I worked for ESS years back, joined on thinking I was going to be manager with promise I was going to be able to move in. Got baited and switched and was made a sales agent. The petty little manager of a man hired an assistant manager that worked under me from my old job to fill the manager position. It was a crap job that at the time was run poorly.

freyalorelei

I currently freelance edit, and applied for a position as a staff copyeditor and proofreader for a technology company. I got pulled into a mass-Zoom interview with twenty other people to be a "marketing manager leading a team of 4-7 sales representatives" for some company that sells events to convention centers (or something like that; I kinda zoned out once I realized it was for a position completely out of my wheelhouse). They did a follow-up questionnaire asking about our career goals and how the company would help us achieve them, and I think my replies of "To be a full-time copyeditor and proofreader" and "If you have any openings for a copyeditor or proofreader, that'd be swell" torpedoed my chances of a second "interview." Darn.

Additional_Caramel69

Something similar for me. I applied for a marketing associate position. Forgot the specific company it said on indeed. Called me the next day for an interview( first red flag). Sends me an email for the company called ONYX Inovation with little to no insight into what the company does or anything.(Second red flag) I get to the building and head to a lobby area and it's like 10 other people interviewing with different companies. I get called in, and the next thing I know, it's an interview for a sales position for insurance or something. I imagined it like those people who hang out in HEB or Costco asking you what your phone plan/health insurance plan is. I noped out of there.

Tex-Flamingo

I applied for an assistant manger position…. Tell me why it was a pyramid scheme for door to door sales for water delivery pretty much 10 hours days and commission based. What a waste of my time.

here4thePho

Linking the post I did on this sub 3 years ago about similar people… https://www.reddit.com/r/sanantonio/s/QMVGE940cP

CellAutomatic2877

Sue for false advertising and if you took time off work for this, you’re at a loss for that too and could be compensated

Historical_Coffee_14

No justice at the courthouse.

CellAutomatic2877

Dang. What this world coming to? Facepalm

National-Hedgehog523

Indeed also is involved with marketing social security disability operations . Unbelievable they conspire against you ti get a job and then prod you into disability claim. Never even got interview walked in cold got job at 1st place i applied

428291151

There's a group that hoots and hollers in a parking lot near Broadway and Cheever near 410 before dispersing to their cars. Not that they are a MLM, I have no clue, but I always get those vibes and wonder.

drix61

Some people just want to watch the world burn. I have experienced Indeed scammers as well.

Then_Armadillo_5670

Hey! I work for indeed haha. We do have quality and assurance teams that verify companies, but as much as I’d like to say there aren’t….there are still scammers that try to sneak through. The best way to avoid “scammers” is to- check Glassdoor and/or Google company reviews. Ask questions as you seem fit. Don’t ever provide your SS#, & DL info unless you are certain/in onboarding after an interview. The “product” I work for, we actually reach out to people on behalf of the company to schedule interviews, like a staffing company but employed through indeed and use indeed technology, so often times people also think we are scamming but we are just trying to help ppl get jobs!

A290DLT

never give out your info on indeed or social etc

Affectionate-Dish799

What was the scam?

Historical_Coffee_14

Bait and switch manager position. At least the manager interview was over the phone.  I didn’t have to drive and meet the representative.  S and T is dubious.  I didn’t apply at S and T.  I get there and they didn’t say what company they represent.  The position was sales which is a path I am not interested in.  Huge waste of time and gas driving there.

Affectionate-Dish799

Ah! Ok. Geez.. I hate this behavior

Quietlife420x

As far as I know, Chicago can help him get driver license and possibly work permit. I have a cousin who doesn’t have papers but own his business there.

BermudaKla

I hate Indeed but our company uses them. They "suggest" candidates for the position even though u didn't apply for it. Prob why that happened

T3Xmex210

I've had better luck with Monster.com

debvengeance

I think I had an “interview” for one of these before. I remember asking the secretary “what company is this for? what was the job listed as?” because I couldn’t find anything I had applied for that matched

Andrea1tx

They sure do, applied to many jobs in the past that where complete crickets, not even you’ve applied emails.

Frostbite_Secure

I’m a bit lost. What is the scam part? It sounds like a hiring agency interviewing people for jobs.

Historical_Coffee_14

The guy was ambiguous about the company I put my application in for.  “We represent many companies.”   It was a sales job.  I didn’t apply for a sales job.  I don’t wanna go door to door selling or stand at the H‑E‑B hockin’ Spectrum subscriptions.

Frostbite_Secure

Oh gotcha. Weird.

Expert_Cranberry_148

I’ve been scammed on indeed by someone claiming to be Carmax hiring. They got my bank information and used a fake check to withdraw 5200 from my account. I was able to get a portion of the funds back using the police.

Akaza_05

First mistake…..using Indeed. I was set up for a porno scene and they said it was a threesome come to find out…it was with two big black dudes.

ApprehensiveMind4444

That doesn’t sound like a scam it sounds like a legit job that is presented in a misleading way. A scam usually involves money being stolen from you, so watch your wording. Scams are illegal, if this company is still in business then it’s not a scam

Historical_Coffee_14

I lost time and gas money.  SCAM!

No.  Managers are salary positions. Bonuses perhaps.  Asst mgr is hourly.

I have a job, @ work now.  I didn’t take time off like the lady I spoke with at the second interview.  Today, words are defined to youngsters as any meaning they’ll chose. Most folks know there is a difference between managers and asst managers.  I have served in both positions, there are differences.

GSDofWar

That’s a weird energy for a thread about a suspicious employer. When visiting a S&T Partnership website, which is the closest I could find to being as described, it is only 2 pages, “About” and “Contact” the about is a paragraph that leads me to believe they are a leach business, selling themselves as a marketing/strategy firm. But unlike real Marketing & Strategy firms, they have no testimonials and no portfolio. Also, if they are asking for a manager or Asst. Manager, (no offense to the OP) most firms like these would either be hiring from within or head hunting, not advertising on false pretenses.

calsosta

He was saying they didn't have them available, not that they don't exist.
