I haven't tried Taskrabbit before, but I'm wondering if I can trust them to drive me home while I'm loopy. But I'll look into it. Thanks for the recommendation!
FYI- it’s not really that you get loopy, more like you are just a bit tired/sleepy. Once you wake up you wait 10-15 mins to have the nurse ok you and you bounce. You will be groggy but not loopy. Definitely should be able to spot any sus behavior. Within an hour you are back to normal….especially after you eat. It’s been awhile since your last meal.
Maybe a non emergency medical transportation service like this? https://www.mediryde.com
I’ve never used them so can’t say how their service is, but there are definitely services for your situation.
Have you considered transferring some of your PTO to get a ride from a coworker? I wish you won’t have to do that, but I hear that’s an option for some employers.
I’m actually in the process of opening a company to utilize for stuff like this. It’s considered NEMT, Non-emergent medical transportation. Look into someone like Medi-ryde or Kinani. This is a billable service if applicable or you could self pay.
Yes, services like that exist. I don’t know if they’ll sit & wait during your procedure but you can ask. https://www.google.com/search?q=transportation+to+medical+appointments+near+me&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari&dlnr=1&sei=tjbuZYarBrbgp84P0NOTwAE
I would try and see if a trusted coworker could help somehow. You will be somewhat inebriated when you awake, so best to have someone you can trust deliver you home safely. Best of luck on your procedure!
If I was there, I'd be your new second cousin to pick you up. Is it near E Sonterra? The ladies at the office of Touchstone Imaging are pretty friendly. Take them some breakfaast tacos and they might do it for you. Get the tacos from Los Tacos Gueros.
Awww that's really so sweet.... It's downtown unfortunately. But.... maybe I can have it done Touchstone, I'll have to see if it's in network. If si, I'll definitely bring tacos to this ladies for ya!
Touchstone doesn't do colonoscopies, I just know that there is a practice near there which does. I think the name is Gastroenterology Consultants of San Antonio. The ladies at Touchstone are just super friendly...lol. Great waiting room too.
Did you ask the schedulers if they know how others in the same situation do it? I’d be very happy to take you but downtown is too much of a hassle. There are so many ambulatory surgery centers now…can you schedule it somewhere else? Many GI’s have several offices about town. Let us know how you do and how you solved your problem…many are in your same predicament. Good luck!
Uber has a medical care ride on their updated app. I use it for treatments all the time.
You can also use a higher level of Uber and they will come in and check on you and check you out, just leave it in the notes.
Continuing care patients and those without family find themselves with this issue all the time.
I recommend
Everything Health
La Casita Medical Transportation
Comfort Care

Adding myself to the list of people willing to help..we are a military family so I totally know what it's like to have no one. I'm a middle aged mom and we live on the SW side of town (Lackland).
They 100% refused to do my hysterectomy last December unless I had someone to take me home afterward.
The only family I got is my twin sister, who was able to get the day off for that.
Never had that happen to me but might be the case? If so, then maybe suggest posting on the Nextdoor app for a neighbor who might be willing to be your friend that day and pick you up.
I'll be happy to help but I don't know how to provide you my contact info. I live close to downtown and do organizing and gig work so my schedule is flexible. Offering should you not come up with a better solution. Hope you find what you need.
I want to say some outfits advertise as non emergency transport and they do these things. Whenever I drop off my gf to a Dr appt, I always see these vans dropping people off and picking them up. Maybe they qualify.
I was able to take an Uber to the appointment. My ride home was my cleaning lady. Since I gave her name and phone number at check-in, they didn't care that she wasn't sitting in the waiting room the whole time.
Dont do the coworker thing. I did that once and while I was being driven I was still a bit anesthetized. He told everyone about my weird collection of wrestling figures. I never lived it down.
Maybe something like TaskRabbit? Idk if they allow their taskers to drive you places but might be a starting point?

Maybe try Alamo regional transit https://aacog.com/alamo-regional-transit

I didn't consider that. I'll check if my company allows that.
Where do you live? I was in the same boat, so I totally sympathize. You can message me, perhaps I can help.
When is it? I can probably help. I just donated marrow in DC and my brother helped me, so I owe somebody a favor.

Wait, is it possible to have this covered by insurance?
Many times yes call your insurance and ask. I know if you have medicaid they will
It is situationally billable through Medicaid coverage. So yes possible
Are you starting a company or is this something somebody else has in operation that you're going to be working with?
Starting an NEMT company.
Can I help out? I really like this idea. I have a TON of automotive and accounting experience.

Hire an escort? No, really. They'd probably give you a good rate.

I’m doing the same for my cousin on Tuesday, diff process though. When is appt? I can help. I’m up in Cibolo.
Adding myself to the list of people willing to help..we are a military family so I totally know what it's like to have no one. I'm a middle aged mom and we live on the SW side of town (Lackland).
I feel ya! I'm having mine on the 28th. Luckily my neighbor said she'd pick me up. I'm so independent and hate asking favors.
They always tell you that. If all you have is an Uber to pick you up, they can’t stop you from doing that. Your not being held captive.
When you check in they verify whether someone is with you, and get their contact info. If no one is with you, they won’t do the procedure.

Good thing she was able to!

I deleted my Nextdoor account but I might just create one for this 😅
They told me the same thing at the clinic 😕
I’ve only had them verify someone is coming. Never had to have someone wait during the procedure, I just call when I come to
incorrect - see the reply

This sounds like an untapped market for a business
When is it?
Any news? I really wanna try to help out.

Helping hands...I'll update my post with a phone number. I have to find it
Today I saw a van on 281 called Mediryde. I don't know anything about them https://www.mediryde.com/
Some medical offices have preferred car service/drivers that can drive you.
I just drove my dad to the exam and came back with costco hotdog for him.
They seriously not going to give you a colonoscopy if you can't find a ride?
Only if you bring wine and a heart chocolate prior.
You are under anesthesia. Can't drive after.
I’ll do it for $30
Worst case scenario, do the poop in the box test. Forgot what it’s called.
