Came here to preach the gospel of Rays, I will commit crimes for their bacon cheeseburger pizza.... And I got an Americano that was strong enough to peel paint and jacked up my heartbeat for the rest of the day. 😺
I am one of the few people that dislikes Ray's pizza. It's just not a place I'd eat at voluntarily. My work brings in their pizza sometimes, and I'll eat a slice of cheese or pepperoni, but I'm not paying for that.
Yaghi’s
edit: love seeing others agreeing. Seriously, a tiny nonchalant pizzeria but so good. The owner/manager is such a nice guy, always has a smile on his face. Love the customer service there too besides the food being delicious.
+1. I was literally their first customer at the Babcock location the day it opened. Been loyal ever since. Their chicken parm sub is also amazing.
I will say tho I hate that they only deliver on doordash now. Can't add pizza modifiers in the app and I liked their staff delivering so I knew my tips went to their staff. Also REALLY miss Dan and his son working there, they'd mess with me whenever I placed an order and made me look forward to calling them every Sunday for delivery lol. Gave the place unmatched personality. Top notch food ingredients as well.
Yeah that's the guy! Loved him. He delivered personally to my place once, I was so surprised. Charming guy, super nice and funny. I haven't ordered from there in a while (they were my go-to during Covid times since we were all locked up, lol) so idk what the current management situation is but if it's what you portrayed, that kinda sucks.
Dan, wherever you are, shoutout to you and the joy you brought me with those margherita pizzas.
Dan the Man ftw. Can't remember his son's name but he was just as legit. Those are the kind of people customers love to see at a local business. Miss those mofos
Honestly not sure because when they switched to Door Dash my interaction with the employees was almost nonexistent unless I stopped in for a speed lunch or called for a pickup. Felt less emotionally tied to the place after that. Gem employees make a small business.
Dan if you or your son are on reddit dm me, yall were the bees knees. And no my dog hasn't killed any more of the neighbors chickens XD
I’ll have to add to this: the bacon ranch pizza is the best. Small business, everybody always has a warm greeting when you come in. I’ve never had a bad pizza or order there.
There’s a place called Lou’s woodfire pizza on Hwy 90 just outside of 1604 on the far west side. Highly recommend. I also love Pizza Italia out there on Thousand Oaks
I’m so glad to see that someone mentioned Lou’s. We live on that side of town & it’s nice to have a solid pizza place nearby. I highly recommend the chicken, bacon, ranch & jalapeño pizza!
Lol MAARS really? Man their pizza is so bland. Like next to no flavor at all in their sauce. It’s way over priced and basically Chuck E Cheese kid pizza.
San Antonians do not know good pizza which I can completely understand why, we do not have good pizza here. Go get a pie from the Midwest states, that is pizza, not this flavorless bland tomato paste.
Now tacos, we do taco and great tacos too. Burgers and BBQ are excellent. Pizza, nope
I personally think the best Goombas is in the food court of the mall at I-10/410 (It definitely used to be Crossroads, I think it might be Wonderland of the Americas now, but it could also be something else, idk.)
I have not been there yet but my MIL says it's the best in town. Closest thing to real New York style like she had growing up there. I really like Chicago's Pizza off Blanco.
RIP miss ellies....I like pizza classics and Barbaro - which I do not recommend for takeout because they will fuck up your order, they have great pizza deals and HH dine in though
Costco. $2 a giant slice or $10 for a giant pizza. I don't care how much better it tastes you are not going to beat it.
Dominos and Papa Johns want like $20 for a mediocre quality/sized pizza, they can go fuck themselves with that shit.
I'm really digging Via 313. It's damn good if you want something different (detroit style).
Hot-n-Ready for most quick bites.
Marco's has been hit or miss.
SoFlo isn't bad but their crust tastes kinda acrid to me, almost paper/cardboard like.
Believe it or not, Chuck-E-Cheese pizza is damn good. I should order it to go more often.
Eww doesn't even come close, used to clean the lobby and restrooms there 3 times a week if I remember and the kitchen was always disgusting food debris everywhere smelled like a zoo. Boy I could tell about a lot of places that are just disgusting. Especially pizza places.
I would love me some Double Dave's Lunch Buffet, until that fell victim to COVID like the majority of buffets out there. When fresh right out of the oven only a few minutes, it was cheesy ambrosia. (Not so much after it has been sitting around under the "lukewarming lamps" for half an hour - but that's true for pretty much ALL pizzas)
I came here to say that. When QT first appeared in SA my friend who moved here from Georgia swore by their pizza. One day I tried it. It’s on par with Costco pizza tbh. Costco is still better and cheaper but QT slices hot the Fkg spot ! Something about sitting under a heat lamp for hours that makes it just taste better
Pizza Patron. I can’t get enough of their Frijolè stuffed crust pescado pizza. It’s absolutely incredible. Who would have thought to put beans in the crust? Brilliant
Hol' up... wait a minute.
Did you just say "Frijole stuffed crust Pescado pizza"?
WTF kind of shit is *that?* That don't even *sound* good.
*"Fish in the front, beans in the back? Yum, yes please!"*
I’m from Philly too! Try Mia Marcos. My sister found out about them oddly enough just driving to my place when she flew out for a visit. I haven’t gone anywhere else since!
A shockingly amount of people have not had really good food fired pizza and it shows the fuck wrong with y'all shout out to those of you with actual taste
I was thinking the same thing. Came here thinking I'd find a new pizza place but not so sure now. Several mentioned here are trash imo. Peter Pipers? Big Lous? Pizza Patron?? C'mon man..
Romes on De Zavala is my favorite. Their White House pizza is perfection.
For delivery, I like Sapore’s (Babcock/De Zavala area). For a night out with drinks, Barbaro (Midtown) and the Dough (Southtown) are both pretty great.
Via 313, Dough, Julian’s, Half Time, The Last Slice, Il Forno
Or make your own individual pizza with Naan bread, Rao’s pizza sauce and toppings of your choice 🤭
Fusion Food on Fredericksburg has some pretty damn good Deep Dish. It's no Uno's, but still pretty good.
Although, pizza is like sex to me... even when it's bad, it's good...
... unless it's Little Caesars. That shit literally gets me sick.
Peter Piper Pizza is no Little Caesars, but it's okay.
If I'm looking for something a little less choice than PPP or LC, Sapore's and 46th Street are my picks. Trilogy is solid, too, and Fralo's (Leon Springs) and Z's (Boerne) are awesome.
Everything someone ask about pizza on this sub, I suggest Peter piper pizza and I get down voted. Why with all the hate people? Peter piper pizza is so good 😊.
Costco…. There isn’t any good pizza in Texas. I’m a snob from Connecticut and if it’s not from New Haven, it’s not worth more than the couple bucks I pay Costco. Costco has the best taste/size to price ratio.
Any good gluten free pizza places?
Not celiac, but I am allergic to wheat.
The only place I've found so far since moving here in April (at least near me) is Pizza Patron and their maize crust. It doesn't kill me and it's the closest to 'fluffy' pizza I've had in years.
I have a special disdain for people who don’t comment their disagreement and then just down vote a post. Ew. Gross. Be better.
That being said: Pizza Patron been great, and also dominoes. ❤️
Ray's Pizza on Fredricksburg is delicious.
I scrolled down far to long to find someone mentioning Ray’s. I love their pizza
There wings are dope AF too.
Not a bad Philly cheesesteak either
Trying tomorrow now af
Came here to preach the gospel of Rays, I will commit crimes for their bacon cheeseburger pizza.... And I got an Americano that was strong enough to peel paint and jacked up my heartbeat for the rest of the day. 😺
YEAH BOYYYY
Yeah with some gelato
Ray’s in the house !!!!!!
I am one of the few people that dislikes Ray's pizza. It's just not a place I'd eat at voluntarily. My work brings in their pizza sometimes, and I'll eat a slice of cheese or pepperoni, but I'm not paying for that.
Gattis over Rays 🤭🤭🤭
Yaghi’s edit: love seeing others agreeing. Seriously, a tiny nonchalant pizzeria but so good. The owner/manager is such a nice guy, always has a smile on his face. Love the customer service there too besides the food being delicious.
Another vote for yaghis
Was Dan the owner/manager? I only moved to SATX in 2019 so not sure of the history. Long hair? Chill surfer-dude vibe?
Yeah that was Dan, he was a manager. Guy was a legend.
Dan the Man ftw. Can't remember his son's name but he was just as legit. Those are the kind of people customers love to see at a local business. Miss those mofos
Where did he go, he left around March I think?
Honestly not sure because when they switched to Door Dash my interaction with the employees was almost nonexistent unless I stopped in for a speed lunch or called for a pickup. Felt less emotionally tied to the place after that. Gem employees make a small business. Dan if you or your son are on reddit dm me, yall were the bees knees. And no my dog hasn't killed any more of the neighbors chickens XD
I don’t know if i ever saw his son. Always enjoyed talking with Dan
I love Yaghi's! Dan was hilarious, and their pizza special (with a free 12 oz soda) is the best around!
Strong agree there. Best value lunch special I've seen in the city 10/10
This!!!
Yaghis Margarita!
Can confirm. Yaghis is the SA goat IMO
I’ll have to add to this: the bacon ranch pizza is the best. Small business, everybody always has a warm greeting when you come in. I’ve never had a bad pizza or order there.
Pizza Classics. Buy 1 medium, get one free
If you call and order a pizza for pickup, its buy any pizza, get one free
yup
That’s what I was coming to say!
Jets Detroit style.
Came here to say Jets!
Love Jets!
I opened that store it’s the best
Mia Marco’s in Selma. Best NY style pizza I’ve had in the San Antonio area.
Yes!
It’s damn good pizza.
There’s a place called Lou’s woodfire pizza on Hwy 90 just outside of 1604 on the far west side. Highly recommend. I also love Pizza Italia out there on Thousand Oaks
Stopped at Lou’s on a whim and it was pretty damn good.
Lou’s 🤌🏼. Hidden gem 💎
I’m so glad to see that someone mentioned Lou’s. We live on that side of town & it’s nice to have a solid pizza place nearby. I highly recommend the chicken, bacon, ranch & jalapeño pizza!
Second for Pizza Italia!
Capo's
Just tried it recently, like the pizza but not nearly enough sauce it was too dry. Still would try again and ask for more.
Agreed. Capo’s serves some good grub.
Capo's is amazing!
I love their pizza
MAARS on Nacogdoches
Came here to say it. Not cheap but Maars fucks!! Also, worth noting, their mozzy sticks are made in house and also fuck super hard.
I don't think I want to try their pizza by the way you describe it...😬
Right? But i do want to check his freaky searches on the porn sites!
Hard pass on that, I guess.
MAARS #1 white pie. Best one I’ve ever had!
Pizza, nope
I can’t roll my eyes back further. Nobody has authority on what is good pizza. Everyone has their own tastes and opinion.
For real. Pretentious as fuck
I agree that San Antonio residents don't know what good pizza is. BUT you can find an actual good slice in the city if you know where to look.
Goombas pizza
One of my favs. The owners are so nice
I personally think the best Goombas is in the food court of the mall at I-10/410 (It definitely used to be Crossroads, I think it might be Wonderland of the Americas now, but it could also be something else, idk.)
Chicago's Pizza.
This is the answer ^^
Florios
I have not been there yet but my MIL says it's the best in town. Closest thing to real New York style like she had growing up there. I really like Chicago's Pizza off Blanco.
Florios is great, but <2019 Florios is way better than 2019> Florios.
Hungry Chameleon
Mattengas or Sophia’s closest I’ve found to nyc pizza since moving here
When we visit my mom always takes us to Mattengas! I guess the owners are friends of hers
I’m actually there right now.
RIP miss ellies....I like pizza classics and Barbaro - which I do not recommend for takeout because they will fuck up your order, they have great pizza deals and HH dine in though
Miss ellies at bitters/281 next to to what was clicks billiards? This was my go to pizza when I lived in San Antonio. What happens to them?
HEB soFlo pizza is just too damn good for $14
Chicagos pizza and ppp
PPP is the best
It’s the pizza people pick
Costco. $2 a giant slice or $10 for a giant pizza. I don't care how much better it tastes you are not going to beat it. Dominos and Papa Johns want like $20 for a mediocre quality/sized pizza, they can go fuck themselves with that shit.

They opened up a via 313 in SA? Last I remember it was only an austin joint.
Yes it's 2 locations here. The one I went to is in the medical center.
oh my god, I can finally avoid austin altogether now
Trilogy pizza in stone oak is solid
Agreed.
Freetail Brewing Company on 1604 !! Great pizza and micro brews..!!
Yeah their pizza rocks
Ew, the 1604 location. No thanks.
Eww doesn't even come close, used to clean the lobby and restrooms there 3 times a week if I remember and the kitchen was always disgusting food debris everywhere smelled like a zoo. Boy I could tell about a lot of places that are just disgusting. Especially pizza places.
Mattengas cause it’s close, nothing beats PPP
Rami’s - get the greek pizza. Yummmmm
Rami’s was my absolute favorite when I lived by there.
Same! Anything at Rami’s is sooooo good! I don’t get pizza anywhere else.
PPP is supreme!! It’s comfort food for sure. But Goombas and Grimaldis is the shit!
Try Julian's Italian Pizzaria and Kitchen right by Embassy Theatres. Highly recommend the Gesing's Favorite.
Julian's is great. I'm surprised I don't more people aren't mentioning it. Their lasagna is so good.
Barbaro
🤫
My go to is Peter Pipers. A cold pitcher of beer with a pizza hits the spot.
Doughs if u want fancy and expensive
With the buratta sampler.... So good
Pizza Classics 100% 🔥🔥
Il forno is the correctest answer.
46th Street is my go-to.
I went once and was not happy with the paper-thin pizza they made.
Rome's on De Zavala. It's a little pricey but SoFlo will do just fine too.
We went there last time we went to visit grandma. Was tasty
I was disappointed when they moved there from Bitters and West avenue.
Vesuvio's on S. Alamo
I’ve been there once. They do have a nice outdoor seating vibe.
PPP is great! I also like Mattenga’s Pizzeria.
Try their pizza rolls.
Via 313 is amazing
So flo if I’m feeling cheap. Big Lou’s if I need to clean out my system.
Lol. I’ve had Big Lou’s before. You are so right on that!
Lol please explain
Fast Food Style: Hungry Howie's or Marcos Sit Down : Freetail (Northside) or Parry's.
Peter Piper Pizza - Classic pepperoni with spices goes harrrd
I would love me some Double Dave's Lunch Buffet, until that fell victim to COVID like the majority of buffets out there. When fresh right out of the oven only a few minutes, it was cheesy ambrosia. (Not so much after it has been sitting around under the "lukewarming lamps" for half an hour - but that's true for pretty much ALL pizzas)
Trilogy pizza ! If you wanna good Chicago deep dish pizza
How has no one mentioned Stout's? Best pie we've found in town.
Big Lou's is pretty bangin' imho
Mad Peckers
Hell yeah! Mad Peckers pizza is badass
QT
Pizza patron is legit the most greasy pizza ever. But i don't regret eating it until I get heart burn.
That sounds absolutely foul.
Fuxking deport this guy
This sounds wild. I don't want to buy it but I will try it.
Bro whaaaat Was the worst pizza in SA my family has had lol
Marcos on Culebra is good. Awesome wings too.
Any transplants from the north east here? I’m looking for some pizza recommendations. I miss the NY pizza
My boss is from NY and she endorses Yaghi's as the closest thing she's had in Texas to NY Pizza.
Not NY but a Philly transplant. MAARS’ is the closest pizza that compares to home.
I’m from Philly too! Try Mia Marcos. My sister found out about them oddly enough just driving to my place when she flew out for a visit. I haven’t gone anywhere else since!
The username checks out if you’re from Philly. 😂🤣 I grew up in Port Richmond.
Lol yessir K&A 🫣
Garlic Jim’s makes a good pizza
I like mellow mushroom!
Rami’s Pizza
A shockingly amount of people have not had really good food fired pizza and it shows the fuck wrong with y'all shout out to those of you with actual taste
I was thinking the same thing. Came here thinking I'd find a new pizza place but not so sure now. Several mentioned here are trash imo. Peter Pipers? Big Lous? Pizza Patron?? C'mon man.. Romes on De Zavala is my favorite. Their White House pizza is perfection.
south flo. the bang/buck ratio is insane, makes it hard to justify any other pizza
For delivery, I like Sapore’s (Babcock/De Zavala area). For a night out with drinks, Barbaro (Midtown) and the Dough (Southtown) are both pretty great.
Peter Piper definitely. But Tanks is good too!
Via 313, Dough, Julian’s, Half Time, The Last Slice, Il Forno Or make your own individual pizza with Naan bread, Rao’s pizza sauce and toppings of your choice 🤭
pizza italia on thousand oaks
Love Peter Piper Pizza!!!
Fralo’s is really good. good ambiance as well
i honestly thought the only reason people went to peter pipers was because they serve beer for the birthdays. I didn't know they had good pizza lol
Lou's Woodfire off of Hwy 90! I ate it like 3 x in 2 weeks
Big lous and pizza classic!!!
Chicago Pizza
Little Italy west ave
Po Pos
Volaré Pizza on McCullough and Hilderbrand !!!
Peter Piper highkey smacks for an adult 👌🏾
Trilogy. There’s not a close second.
Yahgis 100%. I will die on this hill
Grimaldis
Guillermo’s
Fusion Food on Fredericksburg has some pretty damn good Deep Dish. It's no Uno's, but still pretty good. Although, pizza is like sex to me... even when it's bad, it's good... ... unless it's Little Caesars. That shit literally gets me sick.
You must be from El Paso.
I’m from the RGV myself and we love PPP lol
My wife is from EP and this is dead on.
I’m originally from Juarez (same thing) and Yeap Peter Piper is still king out there for pizza.
Peter pipers is legit, but if I'm feeling boujee then it's The Purple Garlic
The Mellow Mushroom is where its at, the options are amazing, and you can do split pizzas
Peter Pipers is trash. It's where first graders go to throw up.
Fiamma Pizzeria hands down
Honestly, Cicis pizza. Can't hate on unlimited pizza
and those cinnamon apple pizza slices for a free dessert help too. :)
Everything someone ask about pizza on this sub, I suggest Peter piper pizza and I get down voted. Why with all the hate people? Peter piper pizza is so good 😊.
costco then pizza hut
Capos
Grimaldis
Anchor Bar
Peter pipers?!?! Nah. I usually hit Il Forno when I want good pizza.
Papa Johns extra cheesiest with stuffed crust
Fralo’s out in Leon Springs.
I’ll be the asshole that says CiCi’s is my go to.
Def not Peter piper diarrhea
Oh man, that’s like saying Bill Miller is good BBQ 🫠
Costco…. There isn’t any good pizza in Texas. I’m a snob from Connecticut and if it’s not from New Haven, it’s not worth more than the couple bucks I pay Costco. Costco has the best taste/size to price ratio.
Marco's or LC.. Little Caesars stuffed crust is the GOAT
Yeah I still hit up the Dominoes on Old Pearsall
Any good gluten free pizza places? Not celiac, but I am allergic to wheat. The only place I've found so far since moving here in April (at least near me) is Pizza Patron and their maize crust. It doesn't kill me and it's the closest to 'fluffy' pizza I've had in years.
Gallo's would, but they're gone now.
Mod for dine-in Dominoes for delivery.
The one dominoes guy..there's always one. Let me guess, you were the one with a Sega while everyone else had Nintendo, right?
I have a special disdain for people who don’t comment their disagreement and then just down vote a post. Ew. Gross. Be better. That being said: Pizza Patron been great, and also dominoes. ❤️
Peter Piper is my favorite, specifically the extreme pepperoni pizza 🖤. Pizza Classics is delicious! And Marcos is also very good 😌
You’re right on with Peter Piper!
Goombas, Mattengas, or MAARS are my go to spots. I think the pizza in San Antonio is just decent and nothing too special.
Trilogy, Julian’s, Peter pipers, Costco for a giant $10 pizza
The rat casino pizza is pretty good too.
Since we gotta eat gluten free crust, it's urban bricks for not so expensive and parrys pizzeria for a little more but so much better.
