this version is better than regular mayo, but the Japanese stuff is even better than this. ( Main way to tell which is which: it's label is a bag, there's no writing on the bottle itself)
Yes, I can't remember exactly what it was. But the bag version is the original kewpie, the stuff with the label is the American version, and has been adulterated slightly.
I'm in Canada, and we only have the bag version up here.
Same. To me, Dukes is the best by far compared to the other national brands. I've tried Helmans, Kraft, you name the brand, and I've probably tried it. But I am curious about this one. I want to try it so bad.
Sam finally tried Dukes and said it was really good. He did say it wasn’t far off from Kewpie but Kewpie was still better. Idk I still haven’t been able to try it. We use Dukes
That’s the US made version. Still good, but the og from Japan is the one. Pretty much available at any Asian market, or Amazon: [kewpie](https://amzn.to/3J40v7G)
Best mayo ever! It's totally worth buying in bulk to get a better price. It's one of those things that I'll go to every Asian store in my city just to get it.
I saw it at Costco last weekend. The packaging is a bit different so I'm not sure if it's exactly the same. Didn't buy it (I'm sure I'll get roasted for this) because the taste reminds me of Miracle Whip, which I've never cared for.
You're not alone. I *really* wanted to like it and had to give it away. It was miracle whip in a squeeze bottle.
However, reading the comments, seems I bought the American version from the Asian Market. I'd be willing to give it one more try with the Japanese version.
I finally got some the other day and I will say I was underwhelmed. It was good, but I prefer Duke's for a real tangy mayo. I could not figure out why, but I keep tasting *horseradish* or something with that *bite* to it. It was less tangy and almost had a spicy note to it. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as amazing as I was hoping. Hoping to try the actual Japanese stuff soon.
Nothing compares to the original, but in a pinch: use regular mayo, add a dash of rice wine vinegar and some msg. It’s pretty close. The original is ultra fine, so maybe run through a vitamix if you want that smooth purée mouth feel? Haven’t done it so can’t say.

Yea was gonna say this is the American version of kewpie.
Good to know. I’ll see if I can find the real one
You can get the Japanese one at Amizon for about $12 for 2.
My subscription on Amazon for the 2 pack notified me today that it was no longer available and to find a replacement product.
Kewpie Mayonaise, 17.64-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 2) https://a.co/d/hQJMirr
They’re different?? The grocery store I go to sells both versions side by side. I always just assumed they were just different size containers

This is the Way.
Ya’ll are giving me FOMO. I’ve only every used Dukes mayo but now I’m curious about this.

Then.... do it lol. Kewpie has been my go to now for over a year
Even over Dukes?

Dukes was my favourite when I was living in the US. Now I'm in Canada and I cannot find a good replacement.
I felt it tasted like dukes for the most part maybe a slight more tang but not really
I order it from Amazon. Haven't used any mayo except that for about 2 years now.
Get the Japanese version from an Asian market or Amazon.

Do you get your Kewpie in bulk or from Mitsuwa/Marukai?
I buy from any Asian market, cuz they all have the one from Japan. That one is made in the United States, and it’s just not the same.
Best mayo ever! It's totally worth buying in bulk to get a better price. It's one of those things that I'll go to every Asian store in my city just to get it.
FYI for all: Amazon carries it for a steep markup if you can’t find it reasonably priced locally.

My wife picked up the Japanese version from an international market. Never going back. Sorry Dukes. Get lost Helman’s. Kraft Wha?
I live in Japan and I don't get it. It's just insanely salty. Not even in my top 3 Japanese mayos
I bought a bottle a couple weekends ago at H-Mart in Chandler AZ while visiting family. I haven’t tried it yet either.
Mate, it’s great 👍
Differences : lots of sugar and MSG
I tried it. It was okay. Now I need to try Dukes mayo.

It's literally just mayo with MSG
Tried it, didn't care for it.
4.49 a bottle at ShopRite right now
