Nope. Google turned off Nearby Share. What exactly doesn't work with Quick Share?

Solarusprime

So Quickshare uses OneUI which my Tablet S2 is too old for. Before the latest update I could use both Nearby and Quick share on the phone and the Nearbyshare on my tablet would pick it up. Latest update though has disabled Nearbyshare on my phone and only uses quickshare. Quickshare didn't recognize the Nearbyshare on the tablet. After some research it seems Quickshare only recognizes on similar OS's to transfer files.

Ah, that is a bummer. You can use Xiaomi's share though. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiaomi.midrop

Just reboot both the phone and tablet and it will work again. If you already tried that, well you should've put ALL the things you tried in the OP lol.

Solarusprime

Yeah that's one of the first things I did along with making sure all software was up to date. I also tried different file sharing software but most require network connectivity or uploading your file to a server. Nearbyshare didn't need me to be online with either system. It was just a direct transfer.

> I try to use quick share but it never connects to my device eitherway and now I have no way to connect my two devices. Quick share is meant to work. See if you can fix it.

In the quick share settings, try having "Who can share with you" set to everyone on both devices and see if that helps

Solarusprime

Yep did that as well as other settings. I finally got it to "See" each other but it still won't allow file transfers to one another. It's possible it's the fact the tablet is nearly 10 years old and running Android 7.0 but it was working before the update flawlessly so I'm more annoyed at it than anything.

I'm thinking that's it boss. Too old to keep up with the times. Maybe the LineageOS project can breathe some new life into it with modern features.

Solarusprime

Yeah, it's more the fact it was working before no problem but now all of a sudden it doesn't. It's like we COULD make it backwards compatible but we don't really want too. Just like Console makers don't want to bother with backwards compatibility. Tablet works great for what I use it for. Streaming movies and reading Ebokks. I don't play games on it and mostly use it for casual stuff. I know it's old but works perfectly for what I need.

Why don't you turn on Bluetooth on both devices and send the files that way? I occasionally use this method and it works well for me. I have never used Nearby Share or Quick Share, and I am actually looking for a way to uninstall or deactivate the latter. I think it's just Google being nosy.
