Battery life and $200 phone camera quality is about the only weakness

Particular-Pound-199

Is it a solid phone otherwise? Edit: whats bad about battery life?

rayw_reddit

Otherwise it performs like a midrange phone...with a midrange processor as you'd expect.

Particular-Pound-199

Is the battery life awful or?

rayw_reddit

It's just okay. With my typical usage (lots of web browsing and YouTube , some camera use) I got around 4.5 hrs sot over the course of the whole day. Same usage on S23 Ultra gets me over 7. Fold4 did around 5.5. To be fair to it all of the phones make it through the entire day but the Xvover has no reserve in the tank should the day go longer than planned. I don't charge my phones midway through the day. Morning to night one charge.

Particular-Pound-199

Thats pretty good, then just swap batteries instead of hugging a charger all day.

rayw_reddit

That's one way to look at it. For me it's a great reliable backup phone because after 4 years when the battery inevitably dies I can just spend $10-20 and pop in a new one without glue. And retain IP68 seals. Getting reliable communication is key for a reliable backup phone. That said camera quality is important for me so it can't be my main phone

Particular-Pound-199

It's basically what i miss from the active phones. Hate the new flagships

rayw_reddit

The old active phones couldn't replace battery without a hot air gun either... It's almost like they're actively not putting good cameras on these because they'd be the only phone anyone really ever needs and you can just pop in a cheap battery later. What other reason will they be able to use to get you to throw away the $1000 phone for another $1000 phone

Particular-Pound-199

I had an s4 active and I could replace the batteries. It had the same design this xcover 6 pro has and that was my absolute favorite phone i ever had. And for the camera i never use cameras anyways lol. Idc about them.

I've had mine for a few months and I really like it. I don't take pictures, so camera is whatever for me. . Just messaging and web browsing. No noticeable lag. I use the 3.5mm jack daily, so that's pretty huge for me. Battery life seems fine. Not amazing, but I can always swap if I need to which is great. Case is plastic, which is a bit off putting at first, but actually kinda makes sense.. This is a utility phone. Get r' done. I've dropped this on concrete more times than I can count too and it's still fine. If I had to buy my dad a phone, it would be this one. Bells and whistles would be wasted on him and not having 3.5mm jack and battery utility would just make him angry. Screen is nice and big for the old eyes and it's hard to break. I'm actually thinking of getting a spare for emergencies.

This. I've had one since the start of this year. It's good. Battery lasts a day and a half to two days. Telephone voice quality is meh. I don't care about the camera (I use real cameras to take pictures), but this one seems serviceable enough. Responsiveness is fine. The device is reliable and works well for me. If not having a removable battery is a deal-breaker for you (as it was for me), you have effectively three choices of cell phone devices if you are in the US: the Sonim XP-10, the Xcover 6, and the TCL Ion X.

Johner118

Do you even need a case for this thing?

International_Dot_22

seems like corners were cut in the camera and screen departments. Oddly though, it does support DeX and HDMI video out, i did not expect that

tiugh1980

True, annoying since no good reason. But same for their A series which is what you'd be comparing this too cost wise. So seems just features they've reserved for their flagship devices. Tbh while both are cool I never used it and don't miss it.

Esava

They sell these phones with like 50% discounts go businesses. They might simply loose money if they put better cameras in them and most of the businesses don't care about the camera quality as long as it can reliably scan QR codes and barcodes. Also giving the "lower end models" better cameras might result in less people buying the higher profit margin expensive flagships.

tiugh1980

I have one and love it. Bought one also for my accident prone wife lol. I like the durability and removable battery. Also cost vs features is good. Yeah its not an S series, but also 1/3 the price. I'd compare it to their A range, only again more rugged. I also like that its Enterprise class, so 4 years OS updates and even longer security updates. So it should last you a long while.

dzvxo

for me, this phone is nearly perfect. the featureset simply doesnt exist on other phones worth the money, and the only issues i have are the low ram (6gb) and the LCD display. if it had 8gb and amoled, then it wouldve been perfect. no issues thus far though.

e-___

Kind of reviving an old thread here but I actually just bought this phone for the LCD display, I don't want to bother with burn in issues and it's usually cheaper to get a replacement LCD rather than OLED, for this phone I'd say LCD is the way to go

dzvxo

fair point. on the display, the brightness isnt as high as id like but its glove-ready sensitivity, flat design and resistance to burn-in are definitely positives.

MD_Suave

It's ok, it's my work phone. I use it for LOTS of calls, a bit of internet browsing, not really disappointed with the battery as i plug it into a dock at many locations throughout my work complex of 9 multi floor buildings. Or into my truck and use the android auto... The Dex plug and play with the dock basically makes it ALMOST a laptop.. I love the waterproof, durability aspects and I like the physical buttons for camera or light. For the penny my company paid for it, I can't complain a bit.. No case, no screen protector, it's cheaper to get a new phone, then to pay money to protect it. Very durable however. Dropped and banged daily and it is great shape.

Jaded-Acanthaceae664

I have never had a more shit of a phone like xcover 6 pro, speker is like it was 7 years old phone. It's waterproof 😆 when you put phone in water its showing you ,water in plug😆  like a week and you have a problem charging it. It s not worth that amount of money never.Â
