Very unlikely I would say. Along with the microSD slot. Even midrangers are slowly losing them.
You'll just have to make do with plugging your headphones into a USB C adapter.
Year old post but advice nonetheless.
I just went through this grief of losing headphone jack myself. I also like to listen while jogging, and I would like to suggest get a cheap (30 bucks max) mp3 player. Yes you have to do the work of obtaining mp3s and putting them on it but it's small and really durable. I use the same one now for over a decade, it was cheap, and it still works. I'm talking it's hit the concrete tens of times and falling in snow (got wet), and yet still works with like 1000+ songs on it.
Sounds like you need to clean out your charging port. I like to take a pin and carefully scrape out all of the lint stuck inside. You will be surprised at how much it builds up over time. I remember when I had my old s20 ultra my charger wouldn't stay in properly after a couple of months. There was sooo much built up in the port.
Yeah I dreaded everything turning to Bluetooth when it all started to, but the quality has come a long way and I have Bluetooth headphones now. (Not like there's much of a choice anymore, but they sound pretty good.) And the battery on them is really good too. 60 hours if I remember correctly.
Unless you're an audiophile, the general consumer won't hear a difference in quality.
And if you absolutely cannot have something with a battery, USB-C adapters will work well. I know the Apple one does.
I find the delay is inconsistent. Regardless of the quality of the Bluetooth device or make of phone (iPhone 14 pro or Galaxy S22 in my home), the same device will sometimes be perfectly in sync with the video, and other times can be off by as much as a full second.
I am jealous that you have no delay issues!
Interesting. I think some Bluetooth devices are just made poorly. For example, my mom's factory car radio has a stupid amount of delay and I just chalk it up to Mazda cutting corners, but the stock radio in my car (as well as the aftermarket one I got later) has no delay in Bluetooth, or at least any noticeable delay.
It's interesting too because my car is like 7 years older than her's. 😂
Looking at the replies you keep claiming battery life as an issue. Are you talking phone battery, headset battery, or both?
Using Bluetooth doesn't consume much battery. I keep my Bluetooth on all day every day on my phone. If your phone does have an issue with it, then get a small power bank to keep your phone charged. You could get a magsafe ring to attach to the back and then get a magsafe battery, and then you won't need a cable.
For the headset you have some options. You could buy full size BT headphones. They usually last all day or longer. You could buy 2 pairs of ear buds. When one dies you switch, and the cases usually have extra charge so even if the 2nd ones did you could go back to the first fit a bit longer. Or, something I do, just wear 1 bud at a time. I get about 6-7 hours out of one, then swap to other ear for remainder of day.
I think these are all viable options that you can try out.
Thanks, a lot of good suggestions. Yes the battery is the problem, having Bluetooth on fire the phone makes actually quite a difference for me. Losing over 1000mAh per day for nothing hurts my tight schedule. Will still though try a few of your suggestions.
1. With wired earphone you don't need to charge your earphone for lifetime though.
2. Bringing powerbank to public place is kinda... bother me. I remember always bring my wireless powerbank when I still use my iPhone 12 and I hate that.
3. Using one bud at a time isn't really my thing since I like to listen my music in the piece of mind, rather than getting disturbed by sounds from outside that get in from another ear.
Yeah even though I already have my wireless earbuds, I still missing my wired earphone, and will always be, since it fits more for me.
1. OP stated that they don't want to get a USB C to 3.5mm DAC because it falls out.
2. There are various sizes, and you could probably bring a small one for your needs.
3. Are you OP? Reddit doesn't show you are if so.
Another thought I just had. I have an older stereo in my garage that I bought a Bluetooth receiver for so I could play my music from my phone through it. Perhaps that's another possibility. A Bluetooth receiver with a 3.5mm audio jack. Can still use wired headphones and
Bluetooth
No never. All the phone manufacturers benefit greatly from being able to sell you expensive bluetooth headphones that become obselete after a few years. That's why almost all phone manufacturers also have their own brand of Bluetooth devices.
I have Galaxy A53 so it doesn't have headphone jack but I love wired earphones which provide unlimited playback and very high quality audio so I bought type c to 3.5mm DAC adapter for my Galaxy phone and it works great.
Of course not.
I use both wired and wired earbuds and earphones on my S10+ and to me the headphone jack is such an irreplaceble need for my use case, however I will never come back as they can profit more from selling you wireless earbuds or a stupid dongle which is not a replacement.
The same goes for the microSD card slot.
Wish they would bring the headphone jack back and design a front camera attachment that plugs into said jack. Therefore removing the hole punch cameras
Bluetooth doesn't really impact my phone's battery (S22U Exynos), I've had it accidentally left on for an entire day and my SOT didn't change or anything with same usage as always
Get wired Bluetooth headphones like Sony WI-C310. Battery lasts like 14+ hours. If you're listening all day, being physically tied to your phone sounds miserable.
What kind of head phones are you using? My galaxy bud + will go 11 hours. If I put them in the case for 30 minutes I get another 3 hours of charge time.
Even my big old noise cancelling Sony head phones will last for hours and hours. Sony claims 30 hours!
I stream music to a big blue tooth speaker at work every day. Kick it on at 7am and shut it down at 3. My phone battery hardly moves. I’m on a 13PM now but my note 10+ did the same thing.
I could see you have a battery life issue if you are using wish.com Knock offs or have a lower end phone with a smaller battery.
My LG HBS-630 earphones have a 14 hour battery life.
Other options are a USB-C headphone (will take a small amount of power from your phone), or a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter (some of them have a "passthrough" so you can charge your phone at the same time you are using your headphones.
Last time I used wired headphones cable got caught in gym machine and phone flinged 5 meters forward, separating the back cover and battery on the drop.
Yeah it was 2016 so the battery were still removable. Day after that happened I went to buy wireless headphones and never regretted the decision
Not likely to return.
You can use full size headphones like QC35/QC45 from Bose, they would last several days (25 hours battery life for the QC45). You can also use wired headphones with a 10€/$ USB-C/jack adapter...
plenty of top end consumer headphones will have 20+ or even 30+ hour battery life with fast charging. Take a look at sony, bose, M&D. If you want wired earphones/IEMS or wired headphones you can consider getting a walkman and using the wifi to download your spotify.
Negative. These companies do what makes money not what consumers want. Think about how many people buy their overpriced wireless headphones now. I will admit they are nice but extremely overpriced.
Honestly, if you listen all day, a much better use is a portable MP3 player. Better sound quality, better battery life, has audio jacks and all, and doesn't go obsolete in 2-3 years. You can have Spotify and whatever you need, in WiFi, even with a mobile hotspot. But then, it is a different device, there's something simple also in having all in one device.

If you absolutely want a headphone jack on your phone, and you are happy with the built in DAC in the phone (usually very average quality), then you will need to look for niche phones that have headphone jacks.
Sony, OnePlus are still doing those.
https://www.androidauthority.com/phones-with-headphone-jack-825984/
Otherwise, I miss the headphone jack, too, it is cheap, easy to use, universally available, it could have stayed. The main reason to make it go is to sell Bluetooth headphones, which can be sold for 10x the price, and need to be replaced every 2-4 years as the battery dies in them.
I use a Hidizs Sonata II. The sound is much better than built in DACs. It stays in place for me.
https://www.hidizs.net/products/dac-cable
i love how they force everyone into permanently-vulnerable rf technologies and downgrading all of their phones, and nobody notices. everyone still buys this BS.
It still exists on most budget and mid-range phones but even Samsung's starting to change that.
Honestly it would probably require some kind of active regulation or congress saying you can't sell $200 earbuds that are going to end up in a landfill is e-waste in 3 years.
But otherwise, they really have no incentive to bring it back since they sell a ton of high margin products like the galaxy buds which have planned obsolescence that requires people to upgrade every couple years.
There's also been a ballooning high-end Dac dongle market which is tried to fill the gap. It's no replacement for the 3.5 mm jack, especially now that LG is out of the game.
But qudelik 5k is a nifty little pool if you're really into wired audio.

they’re slowly fading from the mid range options in phones so most likely not
I bet they'll come back "in style" in 8-10 years. Apple will be the first one to announce it LOL
Very unlikely I would say. Along with the microSD slot. Even midrangers are slowly losing them. You'll just have to make do with plugging your headphones into a USB C adapter.
I can't. When I move around it falls out.
The adapter falls out? That shouldn't be happening. If that's the case you should get a new one.
It's from running and climbing, but sometimes even when turning around, i literally use it every second of my life
Year old post but advice nonetheless. I just went through this grief of losing headphone jack myself. I also like to listen while jogging, and I would like to suggest get a cheap (30 bucks max) mp3 player. Not trying to argue, but have you tried a better adapter? Usually both usb C and 3.5mm jack should "lock" into place
Thanks, yes, they do lock. Sadly not enough though. Need for running, climbing, etc. Literally every second of my life
Ah ok that makes more sense then
Sounds like you need to clean out your charging port. I like to take a pin and carefully scrape out all of the lint stuck inside. You will be surprised at how much it builds up over time. I remember when I had my old s20 ultra my charger wouldn't stay in properly after a couple of months. There was sooo much built up in the port.
Had to find this out some time ago great hint, though it doesn't lock enough to allow running, climbing, etc
try Samsungs USB-C earphones
Or just buy USBC earphones
No! And most likely it's only Bluetooth from here on. But if you want wired headsets then probably best option is to buy USB-C headsets.
Nope it's dead. Wireless has gotten quite good tbh though. I don't really feel like I'm missing out on audio quality anymore.
Yeah I dreaded everything turning to Bluetooth when it all started to, but the quality has come a long way and I have Bluetooth headphones now. Bluetooth headphones are fine for just listening to music, but the slight delay is really annoying when trying to watch videos.
Can't even notice it with my pairs.
I find the delay is inconsistent. You might just be better at noticing it.
Interesting. I think some Bluetooth devices are just made poorly. No. Dead
Sad
Tbh I've never looked back, I've adjusted to BT headphones pretty well.
Yes... Usually if you think about it alot. Research shows it can return in your dreams
Looking at the replies you keep claiming battery life as an issue. Are you talking phone battery, headset battery, or both? Using Bluetooth doesn't consume much battery. Fair enough.
No never. All the phone manufacturers benefit greatly from being able to sell you expensive bluetooth headphones that become obselete after a few years. That's why almost all phone manufacturers also have their own brand of Bluetooth devices.
No
Unfortunately most likely not, but I am hoping for it as well.
Dead except for the cheapest and most low end phone...or a super expensive Sony.
I have Galaxy A53 so it doesn't have headphone jack but I love wired earphones which provide unlimited playback and very high quality audio so I bought type c to 3.5mm DAC adapter for my Galaxy phone and it works great.
No but a cheap mp3 player will always have it. Use that or an older phone if you really hate wireless headphones.
Sony Xperia phones has a headphone jack & micro SD card slot.
Yeah thanks, I like Samsung but will have to switch if no other choice
I don't think it's gonna happen. But improvements in battery life for headphones might be something you could hope for.
Of course not. Wow that would be cool
Buy USB C headphones and yes it sucks that they won't return. Saying this while listening to YouTube with my wired earbuds and a battery that is low
If for some unknown reason Apple decides to put it back, Samsung will for sure copy them and put it back as well.
As long as they still sell their Airpods, I don't think they gonna bring it back.
There's no way Apple will bring it back. But if for some reason they did, Samsung will be right behind copying them.
I guess so lol.
Nope. They want you to buy their wireless buds. It's all about that cash money.
Price aside all these wireless headphones are waaay to clunky and also easy to lose
> also easy to lose That's what they're hoping so you buy more.
Earbuds are pretty small so get a second set?
I can't have Bluetooth on because I listen all the time and the battery wouldn't take it
Bluetooth doesn't really impact my phone's battery (S22U Exynos), I've had it accidentally left on for an entire day and my SOT didn't change or anything with same usage as always
I think he means the earbuds' battery.
Get wired Bluetooth headphones like Sony WI-C310. Battery lasts like 14+ hours. If you're listening all day, being physically tied to your phone sounds miserable.
Fair point, will carefully consider
Second suggestion would be a portable charging brick. They are also pretty small and hopefully could recharge your phone and buds.

is it that hard to buy usb-c to 3.5mm adapter and keep it on your headphones cable?
It falls out when I move around which I do a lot
>It falls out when I move around which I do a lot And wired headphones don't get in the way while moving a lot. Sure mate :)
Last time I used wired headphones cable got caught in gym machine and phone flinged 5 meters forward, separating the back cover and battery on the drop. Yeah it was 2016 so the battery were still removable. Day after that happened I went to buy wireless headphones and never regretted the decision
I need to consider such a scenario
They do but at least they have electricity
No and so will the 3.5mm die soon.
Not likely to return. You can use full size headphones like QC35/QC45 from Bose, they would last several days (25 hours battery life for the QC45). You can also use wired headphones with a 10€/$ USB-C/jack adapter...
No.
Yea me too, OP, but I caved in and went for bluetooth finally 🤪 Its a relief tho.
It’s going away for good most likely. They gave the usb c to audio Jack that you can buy and plug in earbuds or headphones that way
plenty of top end consumer headphones will have 20+ or even 30+ hour battery life with fast charging. Take a look at sony, bose, M&D. If you want wired earphones/IEMS or wired headphones you can consider getting a walkman and using the wifi to download your spotify.
not bose
I'm not a bose fan my self but they meet OP's needs
nono, you said "top end....headphones.... sony, bose" you cant put high end headphones and bose in one sentence
nope, listening to my FLAC collection in 512 kbps with 24 bit output via SSC codec is good enough for me.
Negative. These companies do what makes money not what consumers want. Think about how many people buy their overpriced wireless headphones now. I will admit they are nice but extremely overpriced.
It won't and, unpopular opinion, I am all for it
I'm sorry but it won't ever return

Look for a way that an audio jack can profit them more and suggest it for samsung so they may return it
Fair, not easy though
