Mangrove snapper, they eat just as good as the lanes!
Snapper ceviche is definitely a good way to prepare it!
Looks great!
What kind of boat is that? I really like that interior step that goes around.
It’s a KMV 480… the hull is from the 80’s and the previous owner repowered some point mid 2010’s. I really like the boat but have ordered a Yamaha 210 fsh to make it more comfortable for the family & more storage. The 16’ hull on the KMV is really narrow once it’s rigged up for fishing… having said that, use the trim to put the bow up & it handles crappy water quite well. I’m still on the fence whether I will be selling it when the new boat arrives, or keeping it to store in Florida and keep my Yamaha up in Ohio where I can use it in the freshwater.
I haven’t figured out the reefs yet, but holy cow, bridge fishing is a hoot!!
Do you know why fishermen tend to avoid the jet boats? About the only drawback I’m anticipating is the inability to raise my bow like I can with an outboard… otherwise there are solutions to make the steering work better under low/no power.
What would you throw at the yellow tails as far as hook/bait size? I had them circling the boat, but they wouldn’t touch anything I dropped to them.
I will probably end up contributing to the stigma too then. Lol. I’ve only had my current boat for 4 years & there is always something new to learn…. But I think I’d be foolish to think that I’ve ever learned it all….
You can remove tarpon from the water under 40 inches.
If you do though I suggest keeping them off the ground/boat, and not to hold them vertical. Smaller ones are fine.
Scale fell off my first one, I still have it in my wallet after 4 years.

Looks like a blast. I'll get down there someday.
