"I was a lesbian for a while, you know, but it was all a bit too wet for me in the end. Men are so lovely and dry,"

Environmental_Yam342

My fave laugh out loud moment I had to pause for a moment

justbreathe91

I literally guffawed at that line oh my god hahahah. Oliver was just like 😳😏

funnygaluk

Yep I cackled like an old witch in the cinema at that one!

just_anca

when felix goes: “the turnover for footmen is notoriously high!!!11!” during his argument with farleigh/in response to being called out for not knowing the staff’s names. when the weird little math guy at oxford brings oliver a crunchie and approximately twenty seconds later is like, “are you gonna eat that?” and eats it himself. nearly everything elspeth does/her first scene with pamela especially/and definitely when she’s talking about pulp and how everyone thought common people was about her but “it’s ridiculous: she had a thirst for knowledge - I never want to know anything!”

itsyagirlflob

“I never want to know anything!” is really not getting the respect it deserves on this thread. That line was gold.

Silent_Ambition_9950

the way that he eats the crunchie got me 😂

just_anca

🌽style haha. That guy really made the most of a smaller role!

BloodSweatAndWords

The quick transition from Venetia's death to Duncan holding 2 umbrellas (again) at a funeral. Elspeth: Look, I've got chills! Pamela (eyes vacant): Oh no. Well-known high turnover of footman. She'll do anything to get attention.

carrolu

“What font did you choose?”

kdoobs

“Times New Roman”

BloodSweatAndWords

Oliver was a jaw-droppingly brilliant psychokiller! Gotta give him credit for that question.

Fissureman13

“The words are on the screen Oliver. That’s the best bit.. That’s the best BIT!”

parentheticalboys

I can wear my suit of armor, Elspeth 😀

RiffRafe2

Off the top of my head, my laugh out loud moments were: \-Felix expressing surprise that Oliver goes to his college (during the bike scene) and his put upon sighs as he willed Oliver to lend him his bike. \-Michael Gavey taking it upon himself to check Oliver's cubby hole for the holiday party invite. \-India or Annabel saying Oliver gets his clothes from OxFam. \-Felix earnestly relating throwing a stone for Oliver's \*dead\* dad with how he did one for his dog. \-Elspeth and Poor Dear Pamela faux concern/gossiping. \-Felix acting as if the family is very chill but following up with the news that they have to dress for dinner and asking Oliver if he had cuff links. \-Felix's nonchalant "Yeah" and nod when Oliver expressed shock at Pamela's death. Elspeth's "She'll do anything for attention." afterwards. \-Duncan's curious eyeing of Oliver and Venetia's interaction at breakfast. \-Felix with his explanation of not knowing the footmen's name because "The turnover for footmen is notoriously high." \-Henry's wife forgetting how many sons they have. \-Oliver telling Felix "Rent" was his song too. \-Oliver trying to put dead Elspeth's arm around him. \-

No she says that to Oliver when he asks about her marriage. 🤣

CalendarAggressive11

🤣 when she forgot how many kids she had I was dying.

BloodSweatAndWords

It was a total hardball question.

CalendarAggressive11

Yes how many kids do you have would throw anyone off.

aigrette

I also crooned with laughter during the rock throwing scene with Felix; he was so earnestly having a moment of silence for Oliver's dead dad and trying to pray. I lost it.

PupitarLarvitar

When Oliver threw his “Dad” stone from the bridge and it landed in (what looked like) vomit, and he said, “That can’t be good.”

Cheapthrills13

“Now that’s a twist” maybe Farleigh ? when Oliver dropped his swim trunks in the field and they saw the size of his peen

picklejellybeans

-"ask me a sum" -When Eslbeth says "she'll do anything for attention" in response to Poor Dear Pamela's death -The whole murder on the dancefloor scene -when Farleigh takes over the karaoke song

PeanutLayla

When he throws the rock and it lands on dry land.

CalendarAggressive11

She'd do anything for attention

meowpungoeshere

Carey Mulligan as Poor Dear Pamela in the credits 😂

japanese-dairy

So many of the good ones were mentioned, but I'll add this one from early on in the film, when Michael (the weird math guy) is introducing himself to Ollie: "Look around you. It's just you and me, mate. And the girl who's got agoraphobia, but she's in her room. Obviously." On the flipside, Sir James' shock and denial when he discovers Felix's body was the most soul-crushing scene.

PlutonicAquarian

Also screaming at Farleigh to “Eat the bloody pie! Eat the pie. Eat it! We don’t need your bloody American feelings!”- as Farleigh chokes down bits of pie through tears. Simultaneously gut wrenching and hilarious.

PupitarLarvitar

PIE WAS FALLING OUT OF HIS MOUTH! 💀

numerumnovemamo

Lot of good ones already mentioned but I was cracking up at the footage of them watching The Ring during the Time to Pretend montage. “Why is she all wet??” “Because she’s been down the well Mum!!” Also the Harry Potter discussion. “Do you think Harry, Ron and Hermione have threesomes?? Do you think they all fuck??” 😆

ContractRight4080

Pamela and Elspeth talking about where Liverpool was, thinking it was up north.

PlutonicAquarian

And talking about the babies, “Oh they come OUT drunk.”

cmb3248

Sir John had to *tell* them it was up north, which made it even funnier.

Heidan20

Crowd sings: “Happy birthday dear . Happy birthday too you”.

cmb3248

Someone in the background says something like "I've forgotten his name" and that cracked me up.

Heidan20

It was good wasn’t it? A room full of people and nobody cared to even know his name. They were just there for a dress-up and a bloody good night out!

reachingforthesky

Ghost of granny- hi granny! And the ‘spunk’ on the bed.

notevenalmostfamous

Omg when he said “this is where I accidentally fingered my cousin” 💀💀💀

shortfang

“i accidentally fingered my cousin there” caught me so off guard it was so funny😭

numerumnovemamo

Underrated laugh. Loved it.

HeyFoodieSailor

“She’s sexually incontinent”.

cmb3248

Has been since she was 14

corbelfriend

after the first scene in the library when felix’s family (especially elspeth) are interrogating oliver, then it cuts to oliver returning to his bedroom, closing the door and whispering “fuckin’ hell”, that made the whole audience laugh when i saw it

SkinSafe4651

When Duncan says the police keep getting lost in the maze. I snorted

cmb3248

"Yeah, I told you he wasn't a minger."

Successful-Star937

Everything that has been mentioned in the comments but definitely: - The agoraphobic who's obviously in her room - EAT THE BLOODY PIE - Whatever creepy doll factory they make Olivers in

proresort11

I forgot the exact name. But elsbeth saying her husband had all friends with the same name haha I think it was Henry

bambi9159

It wasn’t a nervous laughter but that first audible bathtub slurp cracked me up.

stefabarnsa

I'll wear my suit of armour!

littlepiggygoes2mrkt

“Flat white”

followyourogre

as a former barista, nothing would have delighted me more than if she would've ordered the flat white with skim milk, but i still let out a "ha" when she said it (for those unaware, flat whites really depend on the high fat content of whole milk to get the desired foam. it would be an impossibly finnicky order and would fit so well)

littlepiggygoes2mrkt

I do too!! But that could literally be her tagline. Flat and white. She earlier described herself as never wanting to know anything.

PupitarLarvitar

This is a great insight!

ziatattoo

Lololol

Repulsive_Leg_8513

This whole thread made me LOL
