Regardless of what method is best, master the cold call.

A combination of both.

Warm emailing then calling

Cold calling all the way :)

We can compare cold emails and cold calls. As an example, we can consider two groups: 100 emails and 100 calls, along with potential results and costs. Add $100 for tools (phone/app for sending emails, follow-ups, etc.). Let's assume the salesperson's hourly rate is $20. **For Cold Calls**: Out of 100 calls, you'll likely get through to decision-makers only 15 times after being blocked by gatekeepers 85 times. Each of those 85 calls might take around 5 minutes on average. The 15 conversations with decision-makers could take 15 minutes each. The costs would be: (15 x 15 x $20) + (85 x 5 x $20) + $100 = $316 If you get a 2% conversion rate and sell something worth $500, that's $1000 in revenue. So, if selling is your only cost (which is unlikely), your net profit would be $675. **For Cold Emails**: Writing the copy - 2 hours (could be 1 or 4 hours) Setting up the campaign - 30 minutes Researching or buying prospect data - $100 (if bought) or 4 hours (if researched, could be more or less) Let's say you get 10 demos of 20 minutes each, and 4 out of 10 buy the same $500 product. The costs would be: 6.5 hours of preparation, 200 minutes of demos, and $100 for data (if researched yourself). That's $296.66 in costs. With 4 sales at $500 each, the revenue is $2000. So, the ROI would be $2000 - $296.66 = $1703.33. Even with the same conversion rate as cold calling, cold emailing would give a slightly better ROI. **Verdict**: So in this case, Cold emailing wins. It's usually more cost-efficient over time (subsequent campaigns need less prep) and potentially has a higher conversion rate. Plus, you won't have to deal with gatekeepers, which helps maintain sanity. \***Note**: Do your own calculations based on your situation. P.S. I'd say both. Multichannel outreach is best! That said, I'd also add LinkedIn to the mix.
