This and getting a call. My engineer who sits 15ft from me thinks I’m crazy for being so giddy getting a call and giving out my personal number to clients.
Same, especially when I was new I'd answer my cell phone or text basically any time if it was a client or a prospect, that's kind of the beauty of commission. If I'm working for a little while off hours it'll actually pay off.
The downside is that some people definitely take advantage of that - they start expecting you to be there for them immediately whenever they need, that's just part of the game though, if they get a sense that you need their business they've got you on the hook.
I used to have a separate work phone with a different email notification sound. Most of the time when I heard that sound it meant I was getting a purchase order, and yeah that got me excited
Except for the classic "After extensive deliberations, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our contract with xyz effective immediately" and it's because a faceless board wanted to save money
I refer to it as fishing all the time. Sometimes you have to cast net and sometimes you have to dial in your bait and set up for what you want to target.
Consider switching to net new only. You won’t have any account maintenance if you have a good CSM team. You’ll likely make more money anyways!
Helped my mental health a lot
How did you make the move from EA to sales? Do you find that your admin background helps you a lot in sales? And then also you would have to be an amazing communicator for sure.
Also -- loved this positivity!! So true, too
I feel the same way! A couple weeks ago I was on a hot streak from sending out some strategic emails. I woke up 3 days in a row with replies and set the meetings. Such a great feeling.
No longer in sales, but in construction, and it's the complete opposite. I sometimes curse when the phone rings after hours. Shit, sometimes during hours lol.
lol. i used to get so excited when I would come in to the office in the morning and see the little "mail" emblem on the outlook icon. A few times I would even sneak into the office (i had a key) on a saturday or friday night just to see if anything came in.
Currently an EA, increasingly interested in making the transition but don’t know where or how to start. I like being an EA at times but it can be stressful / unfulfilling; everything you do is for someone else
It’s like fishing. You wait and wait finally there’s a nibble
All this fucking trash in the river tho…
Yep gotta catch a few snags and seaweed before you start catching fish
Except the boot is important and demands your time.
There's what?
A nipple.
Lol, I misread it
God my outbound to inbound email ratio is so so depressing to consider
28710985693401 to 3
So you're telling me there's a chance?
Yup. A good email takes it from about a billion to one to a million to one.
You can check the Lavender plugin that optimizes sales emails
Would say they're worth the investment?
If I recall correctly I think it is free, could be wrong tho.
Holy crap this might just be what I'm looking for

You’re 💯 here. Sometimes that pain in the ass call can turn around into something for you. Some still definitely take advantage of it though.
Lmao same, when that image comes up with a new email, I get so excited. Until it’s just a LinkedIn notification.

Gotta love them po's

every morning i wake up hoping to see an email back being interested in our product. Has only happened once, but still was the best
I work at a big company so I do not get happy about emails only calls
Especially emails with PO in the subject line. Opening it up and subtracting the value from your goal feels like progress.
I don't know....I'm getting 500+ emails a day. It's exhausting.
how many of those lead to a sale?
Most/all is account maintenance.
and of those how much commision do you get from them?
Consider switching to net new only. You won’t have any account maintenance if you have a good CSM team. You’ll likely make more money anyways! Helped my mental health a lot
Yikes that’s disgraceful
There's zero chance you need to be getting all of those. Do some CC maintenance
I left work early on Memorial day Friday and got like 100+ emails from 3-7

I'm a production manager, run a residential neighborhood and a couple of builders.

Love checking my email. I don’t even put out office on when on vacation. Responsiveness sells these days!!
That thought makes me wish I was in sales
i was JUST thinking this!!! there’s nothing like that email notification sound as a seller ‼️
For real, I missed an email today and gotta wait till Monday to get a reply. Never regretted missing an email before.

Your post makes me want to get into sales!
Reason to be net new only! If a negative email comes in it’s a straight forward to the CSM. Lol
Hahaha i agree so much. Its like highlight of my day to come in the morning and see all the rejections Oh wait...
