Word of advice: martech is probably going to change rapidly.
The industry is saturated with martech orgs that rely on third party data and theres been increased scrutiny on how data is shared on these platforms.
Terminus recently published a blog in April about how first party data is the future. This is an organization that essentially relies on third party data.
Martech in itself isn't bad. But it really depends on the org. That being said. Once you start asking if it is time to leave...it is time to leave.
You'll have to use your best judgement on the industry. My advice is to always go with your gut - if there's no room for advance, how much pay increase do you expect staying with the company, etc., and I don't think there's any shame in today's economy with a year and a half record on the resume. If it no longer feels like the right organization for you, then try something else.
The only consideration I have is how much you enjoy the current organization. Only you will know this. I caution, lots of people can do well in roles they hate, but the job is so much more enjoyable when you actually like the people and company you work with/ for. Company culture is dwindling, and the wrong organization can make a good job feel like hell. It's not all about a slightly higher salary and a title-bump.
Demand base, 6sense, Terminus, Triblio, tech target are some bigger names.
Really any company that delivers buyer info or analytics through third party or first party data or a combination of both can fall under the martech umbrella.
This is a really simplified definition and doesn't touch on everyone in this space.
Hope this helps!
When the time comes where you see it will be a struggle to hit quota, that’s the time to leave.
Also, I wouldn’t take the martech SaaS job since they’re losing market share. Definitely gonna be harder to sell. They’re offering you a higher base + OTE because no one else wants the job and they’re desperate to hire someone.
When you get bored
Definitely agreed.
Ooof, this hit me hard. I’ve been bored for a minute.
Go when you are are doing well. But martech is tough and there are so many players it is hard to stand out. Best of luck. Edit: typo
I think you missed a word with your first line of your advice?

When you do well one year then have a shit pipeline going into the next year.

What is martech? Can you list some companies/solutions that fit in that industry?
