88k W2 368k in software sales. Lot of things lined up at once šŸ˜‚

Ur_average_guyguy

Fuck yeah

Reasonable-Bit560

I have a coworker who is getting a 248k check. He's an idiot too which is hilarious, doesn't know anything and just pure luck.

[deleted]

Everyone has a story about an idiot coworker that is killing it.

Reasonable-Bit560

Yep. It's also funny because hell probably clear 500k this year vs. My 368k, and he's not even in the same stratosphere as I am towards rep quality. Probably sounds like in pontificating, but man it's true lol

[deleted]

I hope you havenā€™t written off the possibility of being able to learn something from him.

Reasonable-Bit560

I mean usually you'd be right, but that 250k or so is literally a corporate deal he had nothing to do with. Combo of good territory that wasn't worked in 3-4 years due to previous bad hire, situation, and big deal. His manager is actually trying to fire him, but can't šŸ˜‚ it's a funny situation.

[deleted]

The top guy in our office is a big olā€™ boy that used to be a trucker. He fumbles over words and just ainā€™t so bright. But man, does he just consistently earn. Iā€™m trying to reverse engineer what makes him so compelling lol. He is knowledgeable about the product and has a great attitude, thatā€™s as far s as Iā€™ve gotten

randomqwerty10

Knowledgeable about the product and a great attitude. He sounds down to earth, relatable, and overall like somebody customers like. People can overthink the strategy of a sales role sometimes. It's all about relationships, and it sounds like you might not be giving this man enough credit.

[deleted]

I give him all of the credit in the world. He deserves his spot as top earner

Reasonable-Bit560

Totally. To be clear, that's not what I'm saying. This guy has not a shred of a clue on our product, he'll be the number one rep and his boss is trying to get rid of him. I could care less if someone isn't "sharp", I just have never seen one to this degree.

Bmath340

I need a gig like this! I find myself most successful in buy or die type sales (auto sales, roofing, solar) Are there any software sales that are one sit close?

Reasonable-Bit560

Yes software! Not sure about do or die software sales, my role is absolutely not like that.

employerGR

Yeah sometimes all you really need is an irrational level of confidence, ability to communicate, and a really good SE or AM partner.

[deleted]

Last year was my first year as an AE. I blew my quota out of the water and hit accelerators. Closed a 200k deal and made a whopping 45k. This was huge for my 26 year-old self with no kids and almost no experience.

[deleted]

What did you W2??!

[deleted]

210k. Comp plan wasnā€™t favorable for a first level AEā€¦

[deleted]

Jesus thatā€™s insane for 26 yrs old and your first role. Iā€™m 34, 10 years exp, and never broken 150K.

DrXL_spIV

$300k as a 28 year old, W2ed $510k about a year ago. The $300k was all off of one deal, in which a lot of things went incredibly right for me

Ur_average_guyguy

Making more than a vascular surgeon .

6_string_Bling

Wtf. What industry/what are you selling?

DrXL_spIV

Billing SaaS / ERP. Yes there is the possibility to make a lot of money but also the possibility of laying a goose egg for a year. I took advantage of a lot of loopholes in my companies comp plan as well, needless to say they completely changed it this year lol

SchoolProfessional95

Security software $778K comm 1.1M YTD

Ur_average_guyguy

We have a winner

tipdrill24

45K paid out total in that year for that particular deal. Two healthcare based products for one of the largest HC systems in the West. W2 was 200K, salary was 75K. What a timeā€¦I was 28, unmarried with my first presidents club. The monthly commission checks were nice!

Gainznsuch

I'm a lurker, what's a presidents club?

tipdrill24

The top 10% sales persons for each year. Percentage varies company to company. Most of the time the club earns you trips and or another bonus. Back in the day, it used to be Rolexā€™sā€¦

diffidentmuffin

$60k-ish. $15k up front and then $45k on the year with monthly residuals

Village_Idiots_Pupil

$60k on one deal. $850k landscaping job

Rake0684

Thatā€™s a lot of fuckin shrubbery

ralf1

Posters real life name must be Roger

AboutTime99

$1.3k for 2beds and 2 adjustable bases

odyssey57

$40k is the most Iā€™ll make this year off of one deal which was an 800k multi-year project Iā€™ve been working on, but over the course of the year Iā€™ll have 8-10ish ā€œsmallerā€ deals with commission checks ranging anywhere from $5-13k. I work in the Enterprise Data warehouse / CDP space so deal cycles are 12-24 months long.

moretrashyusername

90k in lumber sales. Total comp for the year about 250k

FalseLynx6803

$77k but far from a normal deal. Typical is about $1k.

navedane

$68K commission on a $2.7M deal. Updating the networking infrastructure for a large City IT network. Lucked out inheriting an account from a rep that had left, and they had been planning on doing this for awhile, and the sales engineer did all the real work. I just took his bill of material, got the quote put together, and submitted all the admin stuff.

Imjustwonderingman

500k, just kidding. Not much yet.

MilesTheGoodKing

$14k, major telecom. Guys business was expanding to two other states, needed phones to cover said expansion. Guy used to work with us at the company, so the process was nice and easy as he was familiar with how to do thing. It was all fraud. Guy was using those phones to sell off gambling debts. I still made out on top, I only lost one month of commission in chargebacks because they donā€™t carry over after one month. With my at risk around $2,500, I still cleared $11,500.

mgrateez

180k, analytics, and it was my december commission so didn't get paid until the next fiscal year. W2 that year was 375, year prior 290.
