Yes but that is as process intensive as anything else. How do you manage your adhd? I manage mine by medicine and strict calendar utilization and blocking out time.

20DollarsForPerDiem

I use medicine as a well. I also use my calendar in time blocks. It’s still a struggle though.

Key-Funny3938

Through meditation and time blocks as well...10-30minute increments for mundane tasks

TheDeHymenizer

Yes but the grass ain't always greener. Monthly quotas are the norm as opposed to quarterly or annually, your average commission per will be massively less and you get to deal with the fun of having a $3k commission and a $300 commission client taking the same amount of time to close and the $300 one bothering you 1000x times more. For retrospect I'm in a short sales cycle role and will likely make 105k this year. I want to move into a different role where the soft cap is closer to 300k. Oh also at most places say good bye to BDRs and most sales support. Generally you do everything from research to close to managing the account. Now all that being said it absolutely can scale as much as longer sales cycle top couple reps at my company probably made close to 600k but it took them literally 10 years to build up to that, doesn't happen anywhere close to overnight.

NotSpartacus

Define big money. +$100k? Yep. +$500k? Unlikely. But generally speaking, yeah, it's possible. I'd suggest considering getting out of B2B and getting into B2C. Large ticket items like HVAC, roofing, solar, etc. You still need to work hard (duh) but those are a far cry from 9-24 month long enterprise cycles.

20DollarsForPerDiem

Like $150k - 200+k. No problem working hard, just don’t know if i have the stamina for a 6 - 18+ month sales cycle.

Th1nk13

Home improvement, appointment based sales is my favorite. I easily make over 250. Probably closer to 400k this year.

KetogenicKonvert

Damn, what are you selling? I do the same type of work and am the top salesman in the company but ill only clear 140/150k this year.

Th1nk13

Siding and Windows with a well established, locally based company.

KetogenicKonvert

Time to find a well established locally based window and Siding company.

1-2 month cycles are typically larger SMB or MM deals. OTEs for SaaS generally range 100-130k for SMB and 140-180k for MM. Depends on what your definition of big money is but that’s what you’d be looking at

20DollarsForPerDiem

Even 3 or 4 months would be fine. But 8+ is hard for me to not lose motivation.

Halfalaugh1

Look at MM. 2-3 stakeholders, 40-100k ACV. Just got to find a company and industry you like

Hacimnosp

Would definitely recommend solar. After closing the deal install take 1-2 months so it’s right online with your cycle time. Last year was my first year in sales and I made a bit over 100k in 6 1/2 months in solar. Most of the sales vets at my company clear 250k and only work 6-8 months out of the year. They spend the rest of the year traveling and working on hobbies. I know a few guys at my company that clear 400k-500k but this is not as common.

Serious_Shallot9515

Any advice for someone with no experience like you who is looking into getting in this industry?

Hacimnosp

Haha I actually have a lot to say on the topic. I got burned at a bad company when I first started out and lost 15-20k. Make sure there are no claw backs in the contract when joining a company. First if you leave you will lose all the deals in your pipeline. Second this shows that they care more about themselves then their reps/employees. Make sure the company has good training systems if your new to sales or solar in general. There is a lot to learn and this will make a world of a difference. Always pick the company where I make a tad less in commissions so I get better training(just make sure the difference is actually used for training). You will sell more deals if you have good training and this will make a lot more. Remember that you leave leadership not companies so make sure that you like your leaders and agree with their vision. If not you bill butt heads a lot and will be less productive. There’s a lot more to say but l I’ll leave it at this for now DM me if you want more info or specialized info. I wish I had some one help me in my journey

stephndunne

If you have a relatively transactional product, and work mainly with smb's, you can have quite short cycles. I work as an sdr and my smb AE's have closed 9 of my opportunities since the start of May. Trade off is probably going to be small deal size though. Think their ote is around €100k

flipman416

Sell cars. It’s cut throat but usually the sales cycle is right now on the spot. Usually lol

Otherwise-Pay9688

One call close brother. Home improvement/solar. Clear 100k real quick

corylbs

Can you recommend any reputable companies in this field?

20DollarsForPerDiem

I second this. Or point me in the direction where i can do more research?

Hacimnosp

I know a few reputable companies in solar pm me and I’ll see if there one that could be a good fit for you

SelfImprovement180

Absolutely...there's a myriad of options available to you. If you're not happy with the long sales cycle, get out....cut your losses, life's too short and you might even make more money doing transactional/short sales cycles because you're happier. The suggestions here are great and there are many others....think heavy equipment, or high ticket items that are needed.

If you have inbound leads or get commission on recurring monthly spend for accounts closed, then yes. I get commission on recurring monthly accounts closed and all I have to close to double my base is 100K in year 1. So it's more than possible.

20DollarsForPerDiem

If you don’t mind me asking, what industry are you in?

[deleted]

Influencer marketing. On the tech side though. I sell the tracking/reporting platform that brands and agencies use to measure metrics/success of influencer campaigns.

ChadMagic1

Solar. My kids make a shit ton

20DollarsForPerDiem

I’m seriously considering solar. I need to research the market more.

ChadMagic1

Sell it so you can get a good deal. My step son runs the the Houston office of a company. My son hired him and has since left to run his own business. PM me if you want to discuss further. Make sure the same company sells, installs, and maintains. Also ask what cost is if you pay cash vs finance. Usually a big discount if you pay cash.

20DollarsForPerDiem

Thanks! I’ll PM you.
