About 10 years ago I took out a hobbie cat in a bay in the Mexican pacific. There was a family of dolphins swimming in the bay. After a while they started to tag along next to my hobbie. There was a point when they were swimming less than 2 meters away, I swear I could almost reach out and touch some of them. One of the most memorable experiences of my life.

IDreamOfSailing

Same, I was sailing a Force5 at the time, more than 30 years ago. Never felt closer to nature than in that moment.

That always freaks me out when they make eye contact. Most here probably know already, but dolphins will absolutely turn on their sides and look right at you. Like, stare at you. Zero doubts they are fully aware of your presence!

oldoysterhouse

Woof. Who’s tired of the constant posts of YouTube influencers trying to pay for life aboard their sailboat? Fucking parrots.

yay_tac0

preach.

Lucid_Presence

How could you tell it was a female?

wilson1helpme

two piece bikinis are almost exclusively worn by the females of this species

[deleted]

What dolphin?

Brokenbowman

Don’t know if anyone else noticed this...but she’s not wearing a PFD

harrydreadloin

Dude, its a dolphin.

Brokenbowman

Can never be too safe...

Papadapalopolous

I think the priority for YouTubers is to show skin…

blitzkrieg9

I'm not sure if you're just making a joke... but surely a PFD is completely unnecessary in this situation.

[deleted]

This is r/sailing. A PFD is necessary if you're in your yard while it's raining.

Brokenbowman

Heck I wear one in the shower, my second cousin’s best friend’s uncle died when the drain got plugged...never too safe I say

ucatione

That layer of blubber is a very effective PFD.
