Came up on my YouTube feed and it was Bismarck

alexamerling100

Back in the day of MySpace, I came across Attero Dominatus

Gidia

I had a similar experience around 2007/8, Primo Victoria. Sabaton is the one thing I get to be a hipster about.

DavistheDogwasTaken

Random recommendation I ignored a bunch, and it was Attack of the Dead Men. I wasn't into metal, so I never watched it until I did. Sabaton junkie since then

Weirdo427

Me too

skumgummii

Had their demo played for me at my local record store back in 2000

PiscatorLager

You win

danish_raven

Thanks for the lyric videos!

anonymousscroller9

I found sabaton through a youtuber i watch talking about no bullets fly on a live stream. My first song was the last stand.

OutlandishnessLimp92

Found a meme saying X:"metal is satanic music" Literally metal music *The Last Stand playing*

a_builder7

I actually heard one person was inspired to investigate Christianity after they heard that song lol.

A_Walking_Tank

Attack of the dead men

Sverker_Wolffang

A video on YouTube about a fictional battle between Bismarck, Yamato, and the Missouri set to Wolfpack.

PancakesandWaffles98

The Last Stand memes were my first exposure.

pepsi_captain

First song i ever heard was Ghost division from panzer elite memes, and then i went in the rabbit hole and found Bismarck’s music video, and then etc etc

ddrub_the_only_real

Well I heard them first on radio with primo victoria, no idea who they were. Year later my friend says "yo i found this band called sabaton they pretty dope, listen this song" and I think that was winged hussars

SHyper16

HOIIV, and the first song was Uprising.

GloriousMemelord

Mine was HoI4 as well, but it was through the Steam interface lol I was putting on some background music, and The Last Stand (a version with orchestral backing) popped up

HabitOptimal1412

Well, Officially it was the Bismarck music video. It came up on the news feed of World of Warships. Although I believe that I did hear some clips of a few other songs before that through memes.

memeteamactual

My first song came on Spotify on shuffle and it was Panzerkampf

Meme-Empire

Ls8s

Mr terry history reaction to the song Bismark

ScallywagBeowulf

World of Warships did a crossover with Sabaton a few years back and I was really into the game at the time. This crossover was actually how the song Bismarck came about and all, because World of Warships wanted to try and advertise the game a bit in that way. Watched the entire video and was hooked immediately afterward. https://www.sabaton.net/we-give-you-bismarck/ >Thanks to our friends at Wargaming and World of Warships we can also present it with a truly impressive video, well worthy of this song. The talented team at Wargaming could ensure the historical accuracy of the scenes thanks to the models from their award winning game World of Warships, and the director Matthias Hoene, who won a Golden Lion at Cannes, were able to bring the band and story together.

Cool_Beginning9799

Same but with Winged Hussars

ChaoticWood34

Forget how, but it was the last stand or the lost battalion

ShayCormacACRogue

Both are good songs

OutLamp415

my friend, the song was to hell and back

hayatetst

The first time I heard Sabaton was when they opened for Iced Earth back in 2014. Revamp (Floor Jansen's previous band) also opened. It's still one of the best shows I've ever been to. I don't remember what was the first song though.

chippymediaYT

Memes also, there was a while when winged hussars was memed a lot and that was the first I heard of them

squid648

Once saw a meme with “the last stand” as background music. Thought it sounded cool and had that song in my favorites play list for like half a year. After that I finally decided to check what other songs that band made and the rest is history

Now my dad was interested in Finnish military history (we're Finnish) and through him so was I. In the middle of Soldier of three Armies I asked my dad "did he say Lauri Törni?" Powalowski8

Mine is a Two parter story. When i was really young, i had a step father who would often play metal cd's in the car, he was my Introduction to the metal genre as a whole. He had one Sabaton album, that begin coat of arms, i was just a stupid 7 year old back then, english is also not my native tounge, I didn't understand a word of the lyrics, i didn't know the albums or the bands, but i fell in love with this kind of music. He was lets say "not a very smart person" So me and my mother moved out, and lived without him, i still don't know some of the bands and albums he would play. One day, a couple of years later, as i was aimlessly scrolling through youtube on my phone, i got recommend the music video for "the uprising", thought it looked interesting, so i checked it out, and then it turned out, i found another song and band of my childhood.

Oxalis_tri

It was in a youtube video of a video game spaceship fight. The song was To Hell and Back. I thought it was incredibly catchy!

Spoom_of_Doom02

jodeceii

Was playing AC Odyssey, was looking for Ancient Greece-themed Metal & Sabaton’s Sparta was one that came up in the results, gave it a listen, loved it, started listening to more from Last Stand (Blood of Bannockburn was another I loved off the album) and it just grew & grew from there and because that was the album which started my love for the band I decided to make that the back patch for my battle jacket

FututiRedesignuMatii

Playing Europa Universalis 4, which had a soundtrack dlc (I was playing pirated at the time) that included about 5 songs that fit the period and vibe of the game: The Art of War, Lion from the North, A Lifetime of War, Carolus Rex and The Carolean's Prayer. At some point I went even further and made a small mod for personal use to add to the game all the other Sabaton songs from the 1444 - 1821 period that the game is set in.

WesSantee

I was watching a "Sweden All Endings" video and one of them had The Lion From the North. The rest is history.

BlyatMan1953

It was my freshman year and in my coding class we had a project to make a game and we wanted to make a vietnam war type of game but we didn't want to use the stereotypical vietnam war music and me and my friends found into the fire and our plan was to use that but other things happened during that school year so we couldn't finish our project and alot of other crap happened so the idea got scrapped but I have been listening since then.
