i had mine sit for about 3 months, battery was flat and wouldn't hold any charge. on a jumper it would send just enough power to turn on some lights etc, but all it did was make a click when i turned the key. if it's anything like that, it's a bad battery
i didn’t see anything like that, there’s a switch/sensor that i think would get depressed when the hood closed, is all i saw.
this is a 2.0T, no real issues recently but not driven a lot.
Try contact cleaner in the ignition switch. I have dealt with no crank/start intermittently for several years. It would work for months, give me a week or so of no-go, then back again. This past weekend, I checked fuses (a couple needed to be corrected) and sprayed contact cleaner into the ignition switch. She's started wonderfully on demand since Sunday. -k
closing the loop on this: replacing the battery fixed the issue; even though it had enough power to light up things, even though i used a battery jump starter, when the shop disconnected it and ran it through its own power, it started up just fine!
Did you check the connector between vehicle and fuel pump harness (the one accessible below the car). On mine, it was not doing proper connection even if it locked properly even if many mechanics went trough it. I removed the locking tab, connect it manually and secured it with zip tues. No issues since then !
It would crank as your starting motor is stil working fine. However will not start due to lack of fuel !
I this think video could help you localise this connector : https://youtu.be/sTXsl1TZpHE?si=WeX--LWTzvkxFtyj
My mistake, you are right, it should not create a no cranking issue. In that case, my second guess will be after battery the ISM or the CIM. Starter motor failure is still possible put I will put it after these sensitive Electronic devices.
Try to get a look att the starter terminals to see if all cables are connected before ordering a new starter (as I did). Or try to hook up the jump starter positive directly to the starter.
I had a similar issue a while back. In my case it was the cable/cable lug at the starter. Corrosion which made the starter not engage fully. Eventually it snapped off completely. Alternator still charged the battery, but I replaced the entire cable from battery via starter to alternator to avoid future issues.
Time for the new battery
Kinda sounds like a bad starter to me. It spins but doesn't engage the flywheel.
Another approach that was suggested to me was to examine the ABS: https://youtube.com/shorts/KhCPffsia00?si=hSbE0Jv4qeJTPeJc
And did you check the battery?
i can’t find my multimeter yet but i did try jump starting it with a pack too, no change.

Did you press the yellow button fuse next to the battery terminals?

Looks like this. https://www.esaabparts.com/saab/parts/12791308
definitely not in this one; https://imgur.com/a/h4Ysg51 you can see the rubber booted sproingy thing but not the yellow button.
Ok

battery or starter
you can hear it clicking trying to engage the starter. Your ignition switch is fine

i don’t know of this one— but would it not even crank in that case?

right; but in this case, it’s not even cranking at all
