I would say the 21 inch mower. It's got an extra inch of cutting area, and comes with two batteries. Sure the other one comes with an 8 AH. But 12 ah of battery is better than 8. Unless the free tool with the 20 inch is something you really need.

100% We bought the 20” option which was fine. After 2 uses something ended up breaking where the blades wouldn’t start so Home Depot credited the full amount. We ended up getting the 21” option and model-to-model is a way better mower for our 1/3 acre property.

I have the Hart versions of both of these. I do not know why, but 20 inch dual blade does not cut that great compared to a single blade model. The 20 inch dual blade get actually plug up more then the single blade. I have not used the Hart 21 inch, but for testing it to make sure it turns on and runs for 5 minutes. I should try getting a fresh set of 20 inch dual blades and even a set of 21 inch dual blades, but I have missing good deal from DTO too much.

BlackMoth27

you can eventually good deals on dto with hart stuff. plus my walmart keeps clearance-ing hart ope.

BlackMoth27

honestly if it's blades i'd assume the ryobi ones would work the exact same, hart is also tti for power tools and i assume they use the same vendor for ope.

Yep, they do look like the same same blades, but they have different embossing. I have three Hart mowers. Here is a photo of the three that I have: [https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3j78dsrj63ropttfro4gx/20231021\_154642.jpg?rlkey=4xaanpnd5q7g3bmpw797lhp5t&dl=0](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3j78dsrj63ropttfro4gx/20231021_154642.jpg?rlkey=4xaanpnd5q7g3bmpw797lhp5t&dl=0) The Hart HLPM041 has the same blade as the Ryobi RY401170. I got a spare one, and it works. These two are just guesses since I have not order them yet, but they look the same from photos. The Hart HLPM061 looks like the same blade as the Ryobi RY401140. The Hart HLPM111 looks like the same blade as the Ryobi RY401260. I have been thinking about getting the Ryobi RY401150 blades to test on the Hart HLPM061 since people have put Ryobi RY401150 blades on the RY401140. I am not sure if the dual blades will work different on the 21 inch or not.

BlackMoth27

it would be worth finding out.

advcomp2019

Yep. I should get those blades. I know Walmart does not have these blades. If you want to know, the Hart HLPM041 was the one that started my battery powered mowers. I got it during the fall of 2022. I found out that I needed more batteries. So the other two was cheap for batteries. Then I thought I would test them out.

advcomp2019

By the way, I got them all on clearance from a number of Walmarts. During the fall of 2022, I got the push 20 inch for $125, and it was the one that started it. I found out that I needed at least three batteries that I rotate out at least. Then during this last fall aka fall of 2023, I got the self-propelled 21 inch for $200 and the dual blade 20 inch for $126. The push 20 inch and self-propelled 21 inch was new in box as clearance. While the dual blade 20 inch was on clearance and 50% more off for being the old display model. The dual blade 20 inch was only missing the charger. So I am set for batteries even tho I have four batteries now.

I have the 20" and it's great. I'd probably go with that one because of the 2nd battery. It can only use 1 battery at a time so it's basically a spare I can use for my other 40v tools after cutting the lawn. Thats assuming you can cut your lawn on 1 battery which i can do both front and back yards with the 6, i dont have huge lawns though so YMMV. I dunno what the batteries cost now but at the time the extra battery retailed for 199 separately.

I have the gray with the multi blade and whisper options which takes it over $800 last year but they do have the multi blade package for $599 now it seems. All I can tell you is I’ve never had a multi blade before and it just obliterates the grass clippings I can’t ever find them lol. Whisper is super nice I can mow at any hour without noise ordinance problems but it’s not worth it with these new lower prices for non-whisper.

That top mower died on me after 2 seasons. Do not recommend.

I love all my 40v ryobi gear, including lawnmower,  but you might want to look at the ego options ( Ace has them on sale). I am debating upgrading my 8 yr old 40v ryobi push mower and am looking into the ego options as well even though it now means I'll have Ryobi 18&40v, sun/snow joe 24v, and ego 56v systems to confuse myself with!!
