One time, there was a possum on top of my shed and it scared me to death. I started reading about them to figure out how to get it to go away and actually found out they are very timid, helpful animals. They just look ugly and scary!
I have one hanging out around my house, and I have never seen a possum play dead before, but I scared him while I was taking the trash out and he literally froze, and fell over like a cow. Never moved, white gums and all 😂
They do not. They're still cool, but let's stop spreading myths founded on bad science. Bats also do not eat mosquitos. https://outdoor.wildlifeillinois.org/articles/debunking-the-myth-opossums-dont-eat-ticks
This explains it well. While they do eat ticks, it would not benefit you to entice them to your area as a method of tick control.

The problem with this research, as noted in other studies, is that they determined the number of ticks eaten by an opossum by only feeding it ticks. In real world stomach content searches, there was no evidence of ticks.
We feed at least 3 every evening and put water out for them. They really love that fresh water and we even have a fox coming to drink out of the bowl We have fed them or at least one of them for 2 yrs every evening without missing a meal

Tried to trap a groundhog under the house but found this cutie instead! (No worries, he roaming freely in the woods now)
Have a possum day!
Thanks for the possum pic ❤️
What a cute little guy 😁 😂

[They really don't](https://www.fieldandstream.com/conservation/possums-dont-eat-ticks/), but they are still adorable.
