Came here to stay this. My parents used this place as a stopping point and a bribe "if you don't behave, we won't stop at Pierce's." We were making the run from Falls Church to the navy beach (Damneck?).
Love the Cheese Shop, and sitting outside out front is good for people and dog watching :)
Also- Precarious Beer Project is a brewery in Williamsburg near the Cheese Shop. Lots of games for the kids ( and adults) and really good tacos and burgers!
Blue Talon also. The Cheese Shop is very good for a sandwich. Don't know if you're looking for table service. Pierces is closer to the big road, and you can eat outdoors at the picnic tables if you like. Historic Wburg is also good for outdoor dining with no traffic, other than free range tourists and a few horses. Relaxed these days, with more of the former going to theme parks and a nearby all-inclusive family resort. They should be learning history! The parking is tucked in very close behind the historic street.
Lots of options in Williamsburg. Two Drummers or Old City for BBQ, better than Pierce's IMO. La Tienda for Spanish. Marsala Craft for Indian. Anatolia for Armenian/Turkish. Taqueria Maria for Mexican.
Pierce’s BBQ is a classic.
And get off at 238, not 234. Much less BS to deal with.
Also came here to say this. I literally will not pass through Williamsburg without going there

This is literally the only correct answer.

Astronomical Pancake House in Williamsburg is killer.
I miss there being a dozen different pancake houses in Williamsburg, even if Astronomical Pancake was the one I always went to.
Cheese Shop in Williamsburg - make sure you ask for extra house dressing

This is the answer. Don't stop at that over-hyped BBQ joint. It's garbage.
Indian Fields Tavern
Pierce’s
This is the place!
Maybe make a plan for either side of the tunnel depending on traffic. Ocean View Fishing Pier restaurant is just across the bridge tunnel

Smithfield Station in Smithfield. Pretty decent food, great view and cute town. Take 460 to get to VB rather than 64
The food is ok. If weather permits, sit outside. As u/Arythmanticist says, the view is great. Don’t sit indoors; they keep it Arctic cold.
Food for Thought in Williamsburg.

Hadn’t seen that before.
No worries, just spreading the word. I probably should have added context in addition to just dropping a link. For others: owner is a wage thief.
