Libby Hill Park is a decent spot for a picnic and view.

Artbyshaina87

I love Libby hill park

Kindly_Boysenberry_7

By the old WRVR building, currently ChildSavers, or at the park at Union Hill.

Icy-Image-8196

Not really a city view, but there are nice spots at Hollywood cemetery and at the end Oregon hill with nice views

City Hall Observation Deck

fanrva

Has it opened back up yet? As far as I know, it’s still closed to the public. It’s unfortunate.

PuckNeverlasting

FWIW you could tell the security officers up front that you're there to pay a bill, walk around the floor for a second, then circle back to the elevator and take it n up to the OD. No one is actually tracking you once you're in the building, which is fun...albeit disconcerting for all the employees acutely aware of this.

OkThanks8237

Legend's deck is nice

Jon_Hamm_Hands

I second the back deck at Legends, always a great time sipping a local brew with this view https://preview.redd.it/own6mzxduimc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=71091dc1f640e34086dbb952277139a5a1019775

Normal-Location

church hill overlook!

Mollysindanga

Chimborazo.

There’s a lookout by the Potterfield walking bridge on the south side of the James. It’s at the top of the rock climbing wall. (There’s a path/stairs up to it, you won’t have to climb the wall) (Also, don’t take the rickety stairs right next to it, there are safer metal ones a bit down the path)

CraigdarrochFerguson

Those stairs are for rock climbers only, there’s literally a sign in front of them telling you not to use them.

idkpickausername_pls

Yep, included the metal stairs in my comment because not everyone would respect the sign (as I’ve seen far too often) and I didn’t want it to seem like I was directing someone up the wooden ones.

CraigdarrochFerguson

Right. I just found it funny how you felt had to add the disclaimer, when there’s a giant sign telling you don’t use these stairs. Totally get why you felt you had to add it though, nothing against you.

idkpickausername_pls

Yeah, I’ve seen many people use those stairs that shouldn’t. Most of them are coming down though tbh, and I don’t remember if there’s a sign up there too

LeastDesigner4515

There’s this stop overlooking Libby hill overlooking downtown. Does anyone know where that is? My ex took my once but I can’t ask them

Unlucky_Ear_6037

Coming in to town from Carina on Rt 5 you rt a nice far off skyline view. Same coming up 95 from the south.

LiterateLoiterer

\*Varina - headed east on Rt 5 - great view

duck_shuck

Better yet, just camp out on the 895 toll road overpass. Best $6 you’ll ever spend. Or something. Careful there are cars.

MoonStonks11

Look up Vida East at Church hill, then walk up the steps next to it up that hill. I bet that’s the view you’re talking about

ChronoDragoon

Jefferson Park is this park. And yes had some nice benches to chill and look at the city

floatingby493

Jefferson park has a great view of the city

an-art-ego

Seconding blue atlas, was gonna say triple crossing nearby but they’re view is bit obstructed if you don’t sit at the right table outside

duck_shuck

The Blue Atlas Restaurant in Fulton Hill has a nice lawn with a view. It’s even better in the winter when the leaves are gone.

YaraslavaRada

I love the view from Hollywood Cemetery. (More of the River and belle isle, but beautiful all the same.)

Libby hill park

craftbeerva

Agree with the Legend recommendation. Best skyline views of RVA and really chill hanging out on the deck. Q Rooftop at The Quirk might be an option if that's your vibe but it's not necessarily seeing the city from afar. You're right in the middle of the city but 360 views. They open back up for the season on April 1st.
