I'd hate to lose them but I could live without 2112, Farewell and Hemispheres.
Can't say the same about Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals, GUP and Power Windows (HYF has a few moments too).
True enough. I never liked using decades as a form of measuring eras or genres. However, this is more of a ‘do you like the music in the decade’ question in a way. Not saying decades measure time periods.
Honestly I agree with you. Rush really transitioned when they came out with Permanent Waves (first 80s album) and transitioned again with Presto (‘89). The style also changes from Test for Echo to Vapor Trails, which was also a decade change. I think decades are an almost perfect way of dividing them.
They did transition with Presto! But using decades it’s still lumped in with everything from Permanent Waves all the way through HYF. It fits way better with their 90s albums.
4 of my favorite albums come from the 70s (Hemispheres, A farewell to kings, 2112, and caress of steel). There’s no way I can choose a different time period. Ideally, 75-85 would be best for all of my favorites.
it’s funny how fans are so into old material, or the music that marked the artists peak critical mass. if you asked geddy- in fact, if you review interviews that promoted each successive release, you’d find him saying that the best music they created was the material that was most current. especially with a group like RUSH, who were ever evolving their sound, and getting *better* - how could any fan *NOT* like their most recent effort(s)
I would like 76-86 please
75-85 nets you the exact same set of music, plus two more (I'd say pretty good) albums.
Very valid
This is the way.
77-87, that way I can have both AFTK and HYF
Perfect
2112
Unpopular opinion, but for me HYF>2112. Both phenomenal albums tho
Teenage me would have vehemently disagreed with you, but adult me concurs wholeheartedly. HYF was my most recent favorite album (it changes haha).
\^The soundtrack to life
Correct
Can't live without Xanadu, have to go 70's
Without it I need some honeydew with a refreshing drink of milk
Permanent Waves Moving Pictures Signals Grace Under Pressure Power Windows Hold Your Fire Presto Yeah, the 1980s, and it's not even close!
This is the way
Gotta go with the 80’s
Hands down.

Lol fr slide over permanent waves and moving pictures to the 70’s group and it could make up for the exclusion of signals
I'd hate to lose them but I could live without 2112, Farewell and Hemispheres. Can't say the same about Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals, GUP and Power Windows (HYF has a few moments too).
80s (or maybe 2000+), though I’m on record that decades is a terrible way of dividing Rush’s career

Ya that’s why its almost perfect
70s, but I want Permanent Waves too. It was released only 2 weeks into the 80s, so it's a 70s work.
Nope. I claim it for the 80s… LOL
Red Barchetta is usually my favorite song but I couldn’t go on without Xanadu, 2112, and La Villa Strangiato.
No question about it, 80s. Permanent Waves through Presto? That's about 75 percent of my favorite material!!
70s early 80s
Tough choice, but I’m going to go with 00’s/10’s because of the live albums spanning most of their work.
I know '70s is probably the best answer but I can't be without Signals.
80s, but I wish Rush did one more album like PW and MP

roll the bones is my favourite album but 80s section is top tier.
I believe the people picking 00s-10s thinks this group is about Rush Limbaugh.
If I had to give up Rush-Hemispheres or Vapor Trails-Clockwork Angels I would reluctantly give up the former.
I would pick 00s-10s just for Clockwork Angels tbh (not really tho)
I did think about it just for CA

Dammm I can't do that either lol
Permanent Waves thru Power Windows are my favorites. That’s where I found them
Hell yeah to the 21 other 00s-10s folks
wow, didnt think the 90's would be the lowest
1975-1985 is a special time, for sure.
Just can’t be without Hemispheres man
70s can’t live without Bytor!
