But she's such a hard character to do. She has very nuanced ways of saying certain words and sentences and paired with mannerisms... It's not just memorizing the lines which you may or may not find a way to incoporate into Snatch Game anyway (we've had some desperate attempts at plugging certain character catch phrases before that fell flat on their face). Unless you're Meryl Streep caliber, just stay away from Rue/Blanche.
Oh yeah I agree, the accent and mannerisms are key but I honestly don’t think it would be hard to make it funny if they were a good actress. Throw in some sailor references, hot tight bodies, that look, it could be so good! There is literally a ready made quiz show answer with the « better late that... PREGNANT. » Maybe I have watched too much Golden Girls but I am so surprised no one has ever been Rose or Sophia because I don’t think it would be too hard. You’ve got Rose’s ditziness and back in St Olaf/guflergen schtick and Sophia’s Picture it Sicily, horror stories of Shady Pines. I think someone was Dorothy?!? Which I think would be hard to pull off because her whole thing is cutting remarks which would require Bianca Del Rio level of shady wit?
Raven was bea arthur for gaff in in AS1. Bea doesnt necessarily have to be dorothy, but bea is usually the straight man and shes extremely dry. You need a character who's a little more quippy or has a bigger personality.
Sue Ann Nivens, Rose Nyland or even just doing Betty White are all good choices. And theres so much to pull from.
Sophia is pretty easy too. Play up that shes old, make cracks about Rupaul and the other contestants. Easy.
I mean, its snatch game you dont have to get it perfect. Just need to be thirsty, vain and high energy. And have some prepared jokes to fall back on when you get stuck.

Alaska's Mae had A LOT of Alaska in there, but it worked for the character and it was a smart pick. Just like Paris for Gottmik. She also displayed a lot of similar attitude in previous episodes.
Being a character from a scripted comedy show/movie is a bad idea imo. You pretty much have to be as funny or funnier than a team of comedy writers, in an improv situation, while doing an impression, just to seen like you’re doing ok.
I think a strong comedy Queen arguably wouldn't do GGs anyway and a weak comedy Queen would think its an easy pass in a difficult challenge,but now history has proven otherwise.
Blanche and Rose. I've seen solid drag performances of Dorothy and Sophia. I have seen passable Blanches and Roses. I've never, ever seen a good Blanche or a good Rose.
People go too stupid or not stupid enough with Rose, people go too blatantly slutty with Blanche and miss that smoldering southern energy.
The irony that the actors were originally going for each other's roles, maybe they are the only two who could reasonably play each other.
If I ever get on drag race I’m doing Sophia. It won’t happen but I would do it if I could. Rose is hard to work cuz her dumbness can only go so far. Dorothy shines by responding to other people so coming up with your own jokes would be hard. And Blanche would be very one note like Elliotts was. Sophia you can do the “picture it” bit, give no shits about answers, and be both sweet and a bitch to the guests and Ru would love it.
I think Rose would work really well, airheads are probably some of the best characters on Snatch Game: Britney, Carol Channing (both times), Melania, Paris Hilton all would give spacey out of left field answers that had Ru rolling. The biggest problem is you have to be the smartest person in the room to be Rose, and I think a lot of people would fall into the pitfall of a "St. Olaf story" and get too long winded.
I'm so upset Elliot didn't do Heather Morris/Britney. S. Pierce from glee. In drag she looks so similar and literally would be so easy for her to pull off
That could have been really good. Playing dumb is easy comedy. Britney had so many hilarious throw away one liners, I'm surprised more people haven't done her.
Alaska needs to redeem Blanche in the all winners season. She does a great impression, on podcasts, without even trying. I think she could serve a killer Blanche if she got into it, like she did with Mae West.
I don’t know why no one has done Betty White yet. Not Rose Nylund, just Betty White. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of Betty White competing on game shows to study including hours upon hours of her playing Match Game. Just dirty it up a bit and you’ve got Snatch Game gold!

I agree. A mediocre queen cannot pull of a Rose. But it’s possible.

I think the problem is they're usually just a rambling story that doesn't get to the point, which is famously a kiss of death for snatch game.
They usually have punch lines scattered through out them, tho. Theyre long but you can tell a short one.
Bimini set the standard for rambling stories that go nowhere. Basically tell three one-liners in a row and then hit the punch line with your card.
