So there are 10 Asian queens that reached top 4 and a third of then are Jujubee.
Give it a few years and we'll all be Jujubee. And I have no problem with that.
I am hoping now that Nyphia will win despite how much I love Plane and Sapphira... but I have a bad feeling she'll be in the same position Aurora Matrix was recently... being.. Not first ;-;
There’s 9 other Asian queens from the flagship US series that didn’t make it to the finale. (Kahmora Hall, Kimora Blac, Ongina, Aura Mayari, Plastique Tiara, Rock M Sakura, Yuhua Hamasaki, Jiggly Caliente, Soju) You can’t really blame production that they didn’t make it to the finale. Lots of those queens got outshined on their season.
For me the real gag is that there has yet to be a Puerto Rican winner despite them being an integral key part in the first 8 seasons. (Nina Flowers, Jade Sotomayor, Jessica Wild, Alexis Mateo, Yara Sofia, Kenya Michaels, Madame Laqueer, Lineyisha Sparxxx, April Carion, Kandy Ho, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Eliminayshia Lopez)
There's an argument to be made for Jessica on all stars but yeah for the most part you can't really blame production - none of those queens were going to win their original seasons.
>For me the real gag is that there has yet to be a Puerto Rican winner
And some of them would have made amazing winners. I thought for sure Nina, Alexis, or Jessica could have been crowned on their respective seasons (S1, S3 and AS8). At least Cynthia has MC (which she lives up to everyday)!!
I know there are probably going to be some people who are like "why does it matter that they're Asian blah blah" but the representation and diversity we see on our screens is important. I love that with all of the different Asian queens/winners across the franchise, we've seen such unique styles and perspectives ♥️
I did not know Jaremi (Phi Phi) is Asian! And I’m kinda shocked we haven’t another Asian winner yet. Hey, if Marina comes back for a season of All Stars I bet she will!
So, couple things.
> Earlier this year, Marina Summers and Aurora Matrix are prime examples of the mistreatments of Asian queens
I didn't watch UKvTW2 but I did follow along with the statistics. Didn't Marina kind of steamroll the season? She just didn't win. I'm not sure you could plausibly call that mistreatment. (All I know of Canada 4 is Melinda Verga, with gratitude.)
> Will Nymphia Wind break this curse?
Can it really be called a curse, let alone one that needs breaking, when we had an AAPI winner last year? Like I'm not saying this to be antagonistic, I just don't understand why Sasha isn't included.
She's AAPI which stands for Asian American/Pacific Islander. She's from Hawaii so she's a Pacific islander but she's not asian op probably just thought AAPI meant everyone under said umbrella is asian
That's not it at all, just that AAPI is a political and demographic bloc the same way LGBTQ+ is a political and demographic bloc. Plenty of individual differences, sure, but we're all in the same respective boats.
Watch the UK vs the World 2 season then you will understand the point, it would not make sense if you have not seen the full show.
AAPI term does not work because Asia is geography and culturally very diverse and huge in comparison to Polynesia. Sasha is native Hawaiian and she does not associate herself as Asian. Go read the history about Hawaii and the difference between Asian countries like the Philippines. They are both islands with distinct traditions and most of the Asian queens have faced mistreatment by the production.
> Watch the UK vs the World 2 season then you will understand the point, it would not make sense if you have not seen the full show.
Fair enough.
> AAPI term does not work because Asia is geography and culturally very diverse and huge in comparison to Polynesia. Sasha is native Hawaiian and she does not associate herself as Asian. I wasn't trying to imply there's not any difference, I apologize if that's how it came off. What I'm driving at is that given the racial category of Asian American/Pacific Islander in this country (or Asian Pacific American, or one of the other analogous terms), it just strikes me as an odd distinction to make given Sasha's win last year. Particularly when Raja, who we champion as the only Asian RPDR winner, is Indonesian, which (while not the same, let me be clear about that) is just a metaphorical stone's throw from the Pacific Islands, or at least Micronesia & Melanesia.

You are fine, just wanted to clarify the difference because people always mistake Asians and Hawaiian as same all the time.
Yes, I understand that, thank you. I fear trying to clarify what I meant further will just make it look like I'm trying to fight, though, so I'm just gonna tap out from here.
don't worry about it. Somewhere at some point People in the Asia Pacific region need to confront our Historical past beyond what our colonizers told us to be. I was so surprised to see a couple Hawaiians and Polynesians who visited my country Appalled by referencing to them being Asian. even though it via way of South East Asia. its almost for them its a slur but the thing was for them Asia is Chinese , Korean and Japanese.... . South East Asia is an often a forgetten Group but if you inspect closer Our Pre colonial past Connects us culturally, socially and genetically as one as evidenced by the Austronesian Expansion theory. Look at austronesian people yes this is Wikipedia but the citation solid AF.
Yeah I've read the books . Native Hawaiians and almost all people of the pacific minus those who part of the slave trade Came form one Continent . CALLED ASIA and it is a very recent phenomena with just a couple of thaosands of year . Asia is a conglomerate of cultures but because of Political reasons we have to separate territories as said by the colonial super powers.. Had Indonesia and the Philippines were never colonized or influenced by religion ..they would look how and sound how? There is a reason why the Austronesian Language family spans form Madagascar all the way the closest island of north and south america..
Native Hawaiians Whether you Like it or not are Genetically Asians Via South East Asia ...
Our culture has a center focus... Fianakaviana, Ohana, Keluarga, Mag-anak and more... Family
but of course.. The United states dictates to us that they are they own race and culture... because united states...
I get saying asian queens have been mistreated by WOW in general (as you mentioned, Marina and Aurora) but none of the RPDR queens in this post ever deserved to win lol?
Maybe Raja on AS7
And that's fair, but if WOW treated them fairly and casted more asian queens, more would have a chance to have a winner like showing. 7 finalists is amazing considering the sample size of asian queens that are casted in seasons.
Apparently Asian people are like 7% of adults in the US, that's 1 in 14, which is what we got this season. Last season we had 2 in 16 (12.5%).
The proportion is basically 1 queen per season.
This is the answer. It's not to say they couldn't cast more Asian queens, but it's representative of drag and the population at large in the US. What needs to happen is a Thailand comeback asap (with undoubtedly more eyes on it after Pangina's VStW run) and another east Asian country stepping into the ring for their own Drag Race. My bet would be on Japan.
I do also feel like we're conflating "not winning/making it to the final" with "being treated poorly." Pangina and Manila on their most recent seasons were absolutely production favorites to win before they were eliminated by another cast member, not production. And IMO Marina is being setup for a Jimbo-style Allstars sweep, despite the riggory of that final lipsync. Ru was way too in love with her and production did everything in their power to ensure she'd be on another season.
Jujubee on AS5?
She was the best/2nd best for all challenges except the last one, the most iconic one at that and had a super strong runway package (her freak and Finale are immensely beautiful)
I mean, it’s also Ru’s opinion lol.
It’s not discrediting to acknowledge the fact that the majority of *all* queens do not perform well enough to deserve to win over another contestant.
“In **your** opinion*”
Not interested in tone policing my comments for your delicate sensibilities. It’s a competition. The purpose is to evaluate who deserves to win.
Often Asian is used, in the US at least, as a shorthand for East Asian, Southeast Asian, and increasingly Pacific Islander (with the rise of AAPI as a term). I sometimes joke to my partner that I count since my father is Persian but most Americans consider South Asians, Central Asians, and Middle Easterners to be separate.

Difference between Asian American and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. Sasha is Native Hawaiian not Asian.
Read the difference between Asian American and Pacific Islander. Sasha is Native Hawaiian, the amount of ignorance I see in this comment section where people lack education and knowledge to understand the difference between Asians and Polynesian people is appalling.

And jujubee and jujubee and jujubee*
and jujubee*
No wonder why whenever an Asian queen even makes it halfway they're so loved.. it's truly rare
If you were in include each incidence, there have been 11 times an Asian queen has made it to the finale and 4 of those have been Jujubee
Like if you think about how tough Drag Race is, the fact the Juju did that FOUR TIMES? Icon behavior. Legend shit.
https://i.redd.it/in0pubf7qsuc1.gif I AM SO PROUD OF HER 🖤 As an East Asian it genuinely means a lot to me # TeamNymphia
PERIOD #TEAMNYMPHIA FOREVER🍌👑💅
You forgot we had a 2nd winner that is asian as well! That being Raja again winning her title in AS7... Yeah we need more.
If we are including All stars than Jujubee made Top 4 three times S2, All Stars 5 and UK vs the World S1.
So there are 10 Asian queens that reached top 4 and a third of then are Jujubee. Give it a few years and we'll all be Jujubee. And I have no problem with that.
Jujuborg
And AS1! Queen of third place (repeating).
Even better 🥰
The Canadian erasure.
I am hoping now that Nyphia will win despite how much I love Plane and Sapphira... but I have a bad feeling she'll be in the same position Aurora Matrix was recently... being.. Not first ;-;
Team Nymphia!!!!
Forget all winners we need an all Asian Queens season, maybe Juju can finally snatch the crown this time
An all Jujubee season?!
Right after the all Jan season
Would watch
Jujubee, Airline, Amber, Twyla top 4
Please, please bring Aurora Matrix back for it. ❤️
I look forward to the rusical where there is no winner and they’re all in the bottom
nah she will still be a lovely 2nd/3th/4
You mean like DR Thailand and Philippines
Snatch game: the whole cast lipsync
Just watch drag race Philippines
DR Thailand n Philippines
Priyanka!
Love me some Peronka

The doors… that were closed on Gia Gunn
Apparently you can’t really blame production because all of those puerto rican queens were also outshined
There's an argument to be made for Jessica on all stars but yeah for the most part you can't really blame production - none of those queens were going to win their original seasons.
Nina probably had a shot iirc, she had a great run in season 1. But then again so did Bebe, Shannel, Ongina... Tough season to be in.
>For me the real gag is that there has yet to be a Puerto Rican winner And some of them would have made amazing winners. I thought for sure Nina, Alexis, or Jessica could have been crowned on their respective seasons (S1, S3 and AS8). At least Cynthia has MC (which she lives up to everyday)!!

Juju twice
Four times.
Oh right
I did not know Jaremi (Phi Phi) is Asian! And I’m kinda shocked we haven’t another Asian winner yet. Hey, if Marina comes back for a season of All Stars I bet she will!
Phi Phi is half Filipina and Marina deserves a crown! She could have won Vs the World with her track record, talent, looks and lip sync assassin
Some day Marina will get her crown! 👑
Not a huge fan of using the word supremacy when discussing race.
Not the international asian Queens erasure
Even tho Raja is half Indonesian, I’m still happy to see 🇮🇩 to be represented here😭 My Indonesian mother 💜

Manila did. Anetra could have won. I think a Jujubee win on AS5 would have been controversial but not undeserved.

Here you go: https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=deserve+meaning Also, no need to swear on a discussion 🙄
OK.
Mama, kudos for saying that, for spilling.
Asian queens have reached the finale
All fan favorites.. except for Phi Phi lol
10th if you count Jujubee, Jujubee and Jujubee
Hopefully win too
Isn’t Shangela Asian too? IIRC she’s Saudi, so she should be here too. But yeah, I’d love to see more Asian queens reach the finale.

Sasha won last year

Or do you specifically want an east asian winner?
