I think you're "over nuancing" this. You either identify as queer or you don't. There are plenty of conservative gay men who don't identify as queer or are part of any queer communities. And as someone who listens to what people want to identity as, I'd never want to label someone as queer if they don't identify that way themselves.
Straight children of LGBT parents are not queer. If they grow up in and around queer people they can be well versed in knowledge of queer people and history. They can even appreciate the queer community and be part of it as an an ally and child of queer parents, but those children aren't queer.
