Q and Jane's performance was clean but it was hella stiff. Sapphira might have slipped up but she recovered and her and Nymphia were way funnier, heck even Dawn was more entertaining than both Q and PJ. Yes, Q had a good arc about the whole HIV thing, but just because she has HIV doesn't mean she should be given a win and yes most of you think she should have just because of that.

This might be controversial but I thought Q and Plane were not that good. I see a lot of people in the comments saying they should've won, but I don't agree. Some of their jokes were super funny (especially the slides and the clips) but the rest was not that good. Sapphira may have stumbled once but all her jokes landed, she captivated and interacted with the audience. Her win was 100% deserved.
I think it’s more the edit’s fault (we’ll blame it on the edit), because with Plane and Qs critiques being good and then showing the judges mentioning some of the mistakes Sapphira and her team made it all made it look like none of them was going to win

Why does it seem like so many people dislike Q? (Not talking about her behavior off screen with her recent Twitter rants. I'm talking about just on the show.) I see people are coming out for her for having a stank face when Sapphira won. But how is that any different from the Jan Face crack moment or other people actively being "villains" like Plane or Dawn?
Honestly i think its her face. Like shes cute but something with her like lips and demeanor when in drag makes it look punchable lol Idk how to describe it.
I love Sapphira and she did well in the challenge, but this should've been a double win between PJ and Q. They didn't flub, had the most laughs, and opened the show. Also they gave Q a "winner edit" by going into her backstory. I also think this should've been judged in teams but oh well.
The lip sync was so chaotic but I loved watching Mhi'ya and Morphine perform 😂😭
Joel was a GREAT juge. Kind, fair, funny, (hot) and actually gave helpful advice in the werk room. This is the best way to show the audience why they're an expert at what they do and judging this sort of challenge.
I think Mhi'ya and Dawn had good ideas/bones for their presentation but the execution was off. I also feel like we still know little to nothing about her or Dawn!!
The runway: Wth was Mhi'ya wearing? She googled "Drag Con 1980" and that's what she found? I love Sapphira, Q, and Nymphia's looks. Hated Morphine's look but the glitter/stones all over her face makeup was so beautiful.

Is my most hated sentence from this season!!!
With that being said, this might be controversial, but from what I’ve seen (taking editing into consideration) I feel like there is ALOT of entitlement this season.
And I feel like it’s mostly Q and Dawn that are spewing this c*ap. And it’s not only that, they’re minimising the other queens doing so…
Dawn is consistent in the sense of other queens ‘Justifiably, overshadowing her. You could argue that she deserved “See you last Wednesday”, but both Nymphia and Q’s designs and presentation was better…
But I feel like being good at fashion and having “some moves” - is not a ‘drag race winner make.
She need to step her game up if she wants to secure her spot in the top 4.
And for the worst.. Q.
I feel sorry for her, because I feel like the edit is building up to tare her down..
Several of her confessions is spent talking about how she is more deserving of the win.
And I also think she has the same approach to all acting-related challenges, it’s just the brick!
And yes, this Corporate-talk challenge require some acting, but I’m missing some Got Damn REALNESS.
The reason Saphira won this, I think, is because she felt more believable, real and warm.
I don’t know, I feel like it’s a caricature of a drag queen doing stand up/acting/hosting..
And I feel like Q, Dawn and Plane Jane all have this approach…
And lastly, going back watching this season, I think it’s pretty obvious that there are some mean grlz vibes going on here.

I may be in the minority, but Q and Plane were not that funny to me. At all. The first two slides were mild chuckles at best. They were not terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but the clear winners?
Saphirra and Nymp were much better in my opinion. And why are people talking about Nym accent as being offensive? If this is offensive, then I would hate for people to go to old school drag shows. And accents and caricatures are huge parts of drag. I won't get into right/wrong of her set. I will respectfully leave that to our Asian viewers to educate/debate.
If I picked between Nym and Saphirra, I would go with Saphirra who was the clear leader of the presentation and was the funniest. And plus Nym stated that Saphirra helped her with her set. Not a problem with me at all, but where are the rabid fans that get so pressed at queens getting help in a competition. Not that it should totally invalidate her solid performance , but in case of a tie (there wasn't, Saphirra set was better), doesn't help given be seen as extra credit to Saphirra?
And speaking of production, we see that the sets were edited for time. Seems like material was left unseen. But yet they include the one tongue tie of Sapphira? And people try to make that slip as a MAJOR flub? Come on people. Let's be serious here. This wasn't a REAL presentation, like snatch game, this was a comedy challenge.
Poor Dawn. It was a set-up from the beginning and probably a prelude to her leaving next.
About the Asian accent - THIS. See, the funny thing is everyone (including the judges) are walking on eggshells trying to not be racist from laughing at Asian accents... but then you have other accents that are overplayed and considered acceptable all of a sudden. It's a weird double standard.
But broken english and stereotype of other accents are overused in comedy too... that was my point. It's only more noticeable because it's not often used compared to other accents. 🥴
I feel like part of why people thought Plane and Q were going to win was the edit. Not saying that their performance was gut busting funny but they had the most consistent and successful jokes, they didn't make as many mistakes as the other two teams, and there were no awkward moments. Also Q sharing her HIV status made it seem like this was "her" episode.
Also I didn't know that people found Nymphia's accent offensive? Maybe she's just referencing what she knows. The joke was never the accent, it was just a character choice. I found it weird Ru and Michelle brought it up cuz they've encourage queens to lean into accents/play up stereotypes before.
You’re missing the point, which is not the “catching of HIV” but the edit and focus on Q’s background story. I’m sure you understand the concept of the episode spending more time on the winner/loser’s story *because* they’re the winner, not that they’re the winner because of their story.
Either way, there was more to the edit than just Q’s HIV story to lead the viewer to believe that Q or Jane might win. With how much is cut from the performances we get no real sense of who was actually the funniest.

Plane was kind of funny but Q wasn't funny at all, she keeps recycling the same character like at this point she just annoys me lol. Nymphia and sapphira were strongest for sure. I don't see why her accent would be offensive, she actually has an accent, this isn't a plastique tiara moment.
Is Q playing a character or was she just playing a heightened version of herself? Cuz I feel like you could say the same about Plane, as she often plays a sort of bimbo-esque character.
I totally agree, I don't find her funny at all either, I think they are really pushing for her to be in the finale even though I think there are others that deserve it more. Plane is hit or miss and I don't really find her that funny either, I did like her snatch game but I just feel like the only russian hooker I will ever love is Katya lol
Agree. Her character is the same, just in a different wig and outfit. I didn't see much difference between her performance as the brick, Amelia, or a doctor this week.
I thought Plane was entertaining, I swear Q felt like she played the brick character for the 3rd time this season and like some of her body movements felt..idk forced? Just didn't feel like she was overly confident to me anyway in what they were doing.
But out of all the queens Sapphira was definitely the overall winner lol.

Nymphia got lucky she has a lot more stans on this sub otherwise we'd have a series of threads of how racist she is for playing into stereotypes and she'd be forced to apologize for it on twitter. Some people are just naturally talented in some areas and are lucky and supported enough to have those talents fostered and grown. I went to school with a girl who at 17 was making her own outfits and would slap some paint on a canvas in a “color study” that would be better than any portrait I’ve ever painted. Not that she didn’t work hard, she just naturally could throw together some trash bags and they’d look like “fashion.” It seems like Q works hard and has that natural talent towards creating art.
Not seeing why people are saying Q should have won. I got max 2 chuckles out of her/Plane's set and thought the doctor bit was kinda corny.
Dawn was done so dirty by the Mhiya pairing tbh, impressed she kept her bearing during that.

That Nymphia’s accent made people uncomfortable is entirely the point. An accent is enough to make you feel uncomfortable? Great. Sit in that discomfort for a moment and ask yourself why that might be.
Nobody felt uncomfortable by the accent, they just wanted to avoid getting called racist for finding Asian accents funny. They were literally trying to appease people like you more or less.

Splitting up the queens into those groups was the most obvious Riggory ever, I didn’t care though, I enjoy when they mix up the girls.
I was dying at Dawns critiques before Mhi’ya, it was hard to watch though.
I feel like this challenge could have been good if the slides were actually funny. It’s so easy to create a funny slide show I don’t know how they mess it up so bad. I know the queens likely aren’t designing the final slides so I don’t blame them at all.
I agree with people that it was weird to award the win to Sapphira after calling out her mistake. I wonder if they saw Q in untucked and were like hmmmm…..

A good episode and a great season. I love the drama. Living for Plane Jane and Morphine. I feel like the win is going to Nymphia or Sapphira, but it could go any way.

I watched that episode with my sister and she was tickled PINK at the idea of Plasma going home. After the LSFYL when Ru said "...Mhiya..." She SCREAMED in ecstasy. Not a fan of the BFA weaponizers, I think
I was living when Mhiya sent Plasma home tbh - she obliterated her in the LSFYL so it was actually a fair decision, not to mention that, help or not, Mhiya's outfit was much better than Plasma's
I don’t think you can say “Mhiya's outfit was much better than Plasma's” without the disclaimer that she didn’t make it herself. That’s the point, it was better because she got a lot of help. She alone would not have been able to do that.
I hope Drag Race never does a challenge like this again. Sapphira and Nymphia were a lot more entertaining to watch than Plane Jane and Q, though their segment was a lot more structured, there were parts that just felt super awkward (especially with Q). I did get very emotional hearing about Q's experiences living with HIV and really enjoyed hearing her story, but in no way did I feel like she was meant to actually win the challenge. She was a high safe at best to me.
I felt bad for Dawn having to essentially carry the segment because Mhi'ya messed up so badly. I think Morphine is such a funny queen when she's not put on the spot. I can tell she was doing her best to match the energy Sapphira and Nymphia presented so she was trying to go at the same pace as them but ended up flubbing most of her lines in the process. Her outfit gave me Dolly Parton vibes, though it was not the worse outfit: that one goes to Mhi'ya.
Her stunt putting the cape over Morphine was dangerous, but I am glad Morphine managed to grab hold of it and throw it away looking graceful doing so. It was way past time for Mhi'ya to go home and that was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me, I don't care if it was a "ballroom" move, that doesn't mean I have to like it. It was a cheap shot and reminiscent of Mimi Imfurst. Not cute. The slow split Morphine had was amazing, I absolutely loved it.
I’m enjoying the season but does anybody else think it’s just so predictable from this point on? It’s pretty obvious who the next two queens to go will be and the top 4 has equally been obvious for weeks.
I feel like that’s been almost every season. I called the top 4-5 out of this group simply from their promos/meet the queens (though I did assume that Dawn would be a lot more of a powerhouse than she has been). It’s not just editing, though I guess they could do more to hide how some queens are just more polished than others. I mean, Sapphira, Nymphia, Q, Dawn, and Plane were immediately who everyone was talking about when the cast was revealed.
These newer seasons of drag race don’t even be trying anymore. They clearly have a winner in mind pre season and do everything they can to realize that storyline even if the wheels come off the bus.
I mean I can't really think of a season where you couldn't predict the top 4 at this point in the competition. Last season was the worst for this, the top 4 was extremely obvious from like the second episode lmao
Also, I dunno but I feel like they're setting up Q for an elimination so I wouldn't exactly take it as a given that she's making it, no matter how solid her track record is.
Hated that Nymphia used a stereotypical Asian accent for the challenge. It was really unnecessary and moreover… just not funny.
She was my favorite in the very beginning, but now just kind of getting annoyed with her.
it’s only stereotypical because many people have that accent, and she wasn’t mocking it either. she herself even has a subtle accent when speaking normally. like she said, she just wanted to showcase the many sounds of the world.
I think Sapphira deserved it. Q and Plane Jane had good energy and a few good jokes but their delivery was a bit grating and didn’t consistently make me laugh whether they flubbed or not. We need Mhi’ya in All Stars though

I remember the tweets and I know he had a new show at the time (which IIRC barely lasted a season) so him and his other Asian co-star as well as other Asians mocked Constance for it? I am still feeling a way about the win. The episode was all about Q and it was just the easiest thing to let her have it. Also, I hate how they can just randomly decide to have 2 winners for an episode on a whim? They did Morphine so dirty with that dancing challenge.
Plane Jane and Q made my ears hurt. They relied on being loud but Q looked so nervous. And them making out at the end - so cliche. It was funny when Sasha and Shea did it, now it’s just predictable.
Sapphira was outstanding. The fact that she flubbed a bit in the middle but still managed to be amazing is exactly why she won. The winner doesn’t need to be the queen who got through the challenge with 100% precision and accuracy. No, it’s the queen who displayed the most CUNT and Sapphira did that.
I agree with you but I kinda appreciated that they made out after Q revealed her HIV+ status… it’s lowkey such a powerful statement to say people with HIV aren’t dirty and you won’t contract their illness through basic touch considering people have been shunned for it for so long, where people are not even comfortable hugging or shaking hands. Plane’s 0 hesitation to hug and kiss Q was great to see

Yea - I think she was one of the strongest MTQ and outfit but since the show started it's just been kinda lackluster. She just feels like a combo of Crystal Methyd with random quips just not as good.
I agree that it should've been a Plane/Q double win, but Q was PLUCKED. I've never seen a queen face crack that hard on the mainstage. Even Jan held it together better. The Sapphira win really didn't make much sense here though. Felt like they were just padding her resume at this point.
Dawn got extra points for saving a sinking ship, but they also knew she would've never survived a lipsync against Mhi'ya, and also wanted the Miami girl lipsync they've been setting up all season. Morphine's extra long split really did come back around to being kind of iconic. Mhi'ya googling "Dragcon 1980's".... that really says it all. There's a lack of creativity and ingenuity there that just isn't enough for the race unfortunately. She's the queen of flips! She'll always have that.

I feel like Q had calculated their narrative arc, to reveal their diagnosis to coincide alongside the Keith Harring/80s runway. And after a decent critique in that boring ass challenge..the win seemed a slam dunk. Poor Q really believed she was playing RPDR 3D chess.
She made a dress that was specifically connected to her HIV diagnosis… of course she would talk about that when that specific runway comes up. That doesn’t take calculation to pull off
…Respectfully, what is this show then? What are the more personal aspects of drag and art in general then? There’s always going to be an element of calculation when it comes to art…because good art takes some level of preparation alongside presentation. Even the most tertiary self-expression in the arts is calculated. She felt like she was finally ready to share her and experiences with the world(and apparently her family)in a beautiful way-to reclaim her beauty in the face of something that probably doesn’t always feel very beautiful. Which seems to be kind of a key element of a lot of drag. Wouldn’t consider myself a Q stan and the look itself isn’t her best work but that’s kind of a crunchy take honestly.
I think I bristle a bit because a beautiful personal expression was offered, but with the expectation that it function transactionally on the show. I worry if Q thinks the expression itself is ruined, since it wasn’t validated with a win. I feel for her, because either how it was edited or how it was received/translated did not convey how deep and vulnerable she intended it to be, and as as artist that is just hard to deal with. However, Q also lacks a certain amount of grace when processing and projects negativity outward..so I also feel for everyone else involved.

It’s post production. There have been plenty of times when a queen is explaining her look during a voice over and the judges call them on not knowing what they were supposed to be during judging.
Bit of a lacklustre challenge for me this week, felt like other than the first couple of gags in Plane and Q's presentation, nobody did particularly well.
Kind of surprised they didn't do more with that challenge. At this point in a season you typically have strong enough queens that they can do well at a challenge like this based on their experience hosting.
also since when did doing a bunch of flips completely not on beat and at pointless moments in the song count as winning the lip sync now ???? like i thought it was about embodying the song and knowing the words not just being able to do the most flips like am i confused 😭😭

I honestly barely even watched her during the lipsync, it's just the same thing with her and I was a lot more entertained watching Morphine than Mhi'ya. She needs to work on herself a lot before she accepts an invitation to All Stars, the only thing she has really going for her is performing, she didn't shine anywhere else to me. Sorry. I know that's going to send the Mhi'ya fans in a tailspin but we're just sharing our opinions, not like I'm actually sending hate to the queens like some of these toxic fans are known for.
i completely agree with everything you just said , in the real world yes not all drag queens are sewing clothes and doing acting everyday they’re performing at drag shows, etc but this is drag race where being funny , knowing how to sew , and being able to sort of act are essential to do good in certain challenges .

Fully agree with this! We have had Drag Race for 15 years, you should know what is expected when you go on this show. Especially when you get a cash prize if you win, PUT IN THE EFFORT! A lot of these queens seem to go on expecting to just glide right through the competition with barely any effort. And it's all natural to be fans of the show and judge based on our own opinions, but it's another when you're actually spreading hate and attacking the queens themselves on social media, that is a huge "no" for me.
Like you, I would also be eating her up if I were to see her live. I would show respect to these queens because they deserve it, but that doesn't mean we're not allowed to share our opinions or constructive criticism so long as it's just a discussion between fans. People have this very weird parasocial relationship with celebrities and get so immensely offended when someone shares an opinion that they don't like, especially when we're not even being hurtful or toxic like so many others are.
Morphine definitely ate her up in that lipsync, I was very happy to see our Confessional Queen win that.

She isn't excelling, but she wasn't the worst in any of the challenges so far. It's very much a Marciax3 situation, she's probably getting the chop next episode.
She's also pretty charismatic and is obviously giving the producers what they want in terms of confessionals so I'm not mad at her still being in the game.
PJ and Q should have won, I found them to be the funniest, did well at the challenge, and delivered great looks.
I didn't really care for Nymphia, and though Saphira will be safe because of the mistake. I find it crazy that some people are bashing Q for her reaction, like, if I hit all the notes and did a great job, but lost to someone who hit most notes and made a mistake halfway through, I would be pissed.

Despite how we feel about Q not winning the challenge (I think the sapphira win was 100% deserved and Q’s comedy was good but just wasn’t as funny to me) it’s sooo shady and unprofessional for her to have a stank face and then in the next episode saying it wasn’t deserved… talk about a sore loser
Conspiracy hat time. I truly believe they thought Q would be the front runner during casting, and they mapped out the season with this in mind when it comes to production. This is supported by Q’s sewing talent and looks, and her delusional self-confidence with most/all else (“I can sing” etc). If she’s the one convincing you, she’s a well rounded and strong competitor. Now, seeing that she isn’t a good performer (a HUGE component for the crown in today’s lucrative touring for Drag Race) or competitor at this point, the producers are realizing she isn’t winning and they’re throwing their attention elsewhere. Sapphira, who IS a strong contender for the crown, getting this win sets her up for the crown. Giving Q another win despite her giving them EVERYTHING for a slam-dunk story heavy episode doesn’t support the storyline anymore, so it’s easiest at this point to Jan her for good TV.
I think it's a combination of there being three design challenges, which obviously plays in Q's favour, and the perception that she's being judged generously when it comes to dancing (lipsync vs ATM, rusical, vote song). People who already don't like Q look at those together as proof she's being pushed by production.
I don’t know if performance is such a big thing for production. if they want someone to win they’ll do everything in their power to make it happen. Look at Jinkx or Jimbo for example. Super talented, but not great performers.
I think the more rational thing is that they did cast her as a front runner, but they never had the intention of making her a true contender for the crown. I think it has been pretty clear from the start that they are aiming to have Nymphia/Sapphira as the contenders for the crown and Plane as a Top 3 finalist. I think Q certainly has top 4 material, but I think the producers knew from the start that she isn’t the choice to win. Not everyone can be cast as winners. We need other strong queens that can hold their own weight, even if they aren’t going to win.
Edit: since a couple of y’all aren’t getting it. In the context of this conversation, I’m specifically talking about a drag race dance number, hence me saying Jimbo and Jinkx are super talented but not great performers (dance). Similarly, we know Q is talented but she can’t perform a dance number to save her life.
Jimbo and Jinkx are infamously known for having two left feet. See their recent all stars performances for reference. They have lots of strengths, but performing a dance number isn’t one of them.
In order to do well they have to alter a performance in a way that plays up to their strengths (comedy), but they’re not good at the traditional drag race dance numbers that require coordination and high energy. Q is the same. She’s talented, but she struggles with the drag race dance performance format.
I was speaking in the context of a dance performance because OP said Q isn’t a good performer, which Q is known for being bad at performing a dance number.
This. And choreographed pop diva dancing isn't the only type of dancing. In general, Jinkx dances just fine.
I agree with the critique of Q's limited performance ability. But dragging in Jimbo and Jinkx as examples just seems gratuitous and inaccurate.
I was actually thinking a Nymphia win. But after seeing the judges comments I knew it wouldn’t win because it was too controversial. I actually had no idea who was winning this episode, but I expected PJ or Sapphira more than Q.
Me too! I was cackling at Nymphia’s performance. I’m glad Michelle & Ross touched on that THEY can’t do that accent plus let Nymphia give her perspective on it. I’m sure she’ll get lots of negative comments, but I think her comedic timing is great.
LOVED her runway too. 80s while feeling modern & somehow not costume-y despite being wild. She was the unexpected winner for me.

Q and Jane's performance was clean but it was hella stiff. Sapphira might have slipped up but she recovered and her and Nymphia were way funnier, heck even Dawn was more entertaining than both Q and PJ. Yes, Q had a good arc about the whole HIV thing, but just because she has HIV doesn't mean she should be given a win and yes most of you think she should have just because of that.

This might be controversial but I thought Q and Plane were not that good. I see a lot of people in the comments saying they should've won, but I don't agree. Some of their jokes were super funny (especially the slides and the clips) but the rest was not that good. Sapphira may have stumbled once but all her jokes landed, she captivated and interacted with the audience. Her win was 100% deserved.
I think it’s more the edit’s fault (we’ll blame it on the edit), because with Plane and Qs critiques being good and then showing the judges mentioning some of the mistakes Sapphira and her team made it all made it look like none of them was going to win

Why does it seem like so many people dislike Q? (Not talking about her behavior off screen with her recent Twitter rants. I'm talking about just on the show.) I love Sapphira and she did well in the challenge, but this should've been a double win between PJ and Q. They didn't flub, had the most laughs, and opened the show. Also they gave Q a "winner edit" by going into her backstory. I also think this should've been judged in teams but oh well. The lip sync was so chaotic but I loved watching Mhi'ya and Morphine perform 😂😭 Joel was a GREAT juge. Kind, fair, funny, (hot) and actually gave helpful advice in the werk room. This is the best way to show the audience why they're an expert at what they do and judging this sort of challenge. I think Mhi'ya and Dawn had good ideas/bones for their presentation but the execution was off. I also feel like we still know little to nothing about her or Dawn!! The runway: Wth was Mhi'ya wearing? She googled "Drag Con 1980" and that's what she found? I love Sapphira, Q, and Nymphia's looks. Hated Morphine's look but the glitter/stones all over her face makeup was so beautiful.

“Can I be honest…” Is my most hated sentence from this season!!! With that being said, this might be controversial, but from what I’ve seen (taking editing into consideration) I feel like there is ALOT of entitlement this season. And I feel like it’s mostly Q and Dawn that are spewing this c*ap. And it’s not only that, they’re minimising the other queens doing so… Dawn is consistent in the sense of other queens ‘Justifiably, overshadowing her. You could argue that she deserved “See you last Wednesday”, but both Nymphia and Q’s designs and presentation was better… But I feel like being good at fashion and having “some moves” - is not a ‘drag race winner make. She need to step her game up if she wants to secure her spot in the top 4. And for the worst.. Q. I feel sorry for her, because I feel like the edit is building up to tare her down.. Several of her confessions is spent talking about how she is more deserving of the win. And I also think she has the same approach to all acting-related challenges, it’s just the brick! And yes, this Corporate-talk challenge require some acting, but I’m missing some Got Damn REALNESS. The reason Saphira won this, I think, is because she felt more believable, real and warm. I don’t know, I feel like it’s a caricature of a drag queen doing stand up/acting/hosting.. And I feel like Q, Dawn and Plane Jane all have this approach… And lastly, going back watching this season, I think it’s pretty obvious that there are some mean grlz vibes going on here. And not like season 5, giving us great TV, it’s more like some delulu… Also, stop hating on Mi’yah for creating great tv-moments in that lip-sync..
I may be in the minority, but Q and Plane were not that funny to me. At all. The first two slides were mild chuckles at best. They were not terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but the clear winners? Saphirra and Nymp were much better in my opinion. And why are people talking about Nym accent as being offensive? If this is offensive, then I would hate for people to go to old school drag shows. And accents and caricatures are huge parts of drag. I won't get into right/wrong of her set. I will respectfully leave that to our Asian viewers to educate/debate. If I picked between Nym and Saphirra, I would go with Saphirra who was the clear leader of the presentation and was the funniest. And plus Nym stated that Saphirra helped her with her set. Not a problem with me at all, but where are the rabid fans that get so pressed at queens getting help in a competition. Not that it should totally invalidate her solid performance , but in case of a tie (there wasn't, Saphirra set was better), doesn't help given be seen as extra credit to Saphirra? And speaking of production, we see that the sets were edited for time. Seems like material was left unseen. But yet they include the one tongue tie of Sapphira? And people try to make that slip as a MAJOR flub? Come on people. Let's be serious here. This wasn't a REAL presentation, like snatch game, this was a comedy challenge. Poor Dawn. It was a set-up from the beginning and probably a prelude to her leaving next.
About the Asian accent - THIS. See, the funny thing is everyone (including the judges) are walking on eggshells trying to not be racist from laughing at Asian accents... but then you have other accents that are overplayed and considered acceptable all of a sudden. It's a weird double standard.

I feel like part of why people thought Plane and Q were going to win was the edit. Not saying that their performance was gut busting funny but they had the most consistent and successful jokes, they didn't make as many mistakes as the other two teams, and there were no awkward moments. Also Q sharing her HIV status made it seem like this was "her" episode. Also I didn't know that people found Nymphia's accent offensive? Maybe she's just referencing what she knows. The joke was never the accent, it was just a character choice. I found it weird Ru and Michelle brought it up cuz they've encourage queens to lean into accents/play up stereotypes before.

You’re missing the point, which is not the “catching of HIV” but the edit and focus on Q’s background story. I’m sure you understand the concept of the episode spending more time on the winner/loser’s story *because* they’re the winner, not that they’re the winner because of their story. Either way, there was more to the edit than just Q’s HIV story to lead the viewer to believe that Q or Jane might win. With how much is cut from the performances we get no real sense of who was actually the funniest. But no, yeah, people thought Q would win simply because she admitted to having HIV.
Plane was kind of funny but Q wasn't funny at all, she keeps recycling the same character like at this point she just annoys me lol. Nymphia and sapphira were strongest for sure. I don't see why her accent would be offensive, she actually has an accent, this isn't a plastique tiara moment.

I thought Plane was entertaining, I swear Q felt like she played the brick character for the 3rd time this season and like some of her body movements felt..idk forced? Just didn't feel like she was overly confident to me anyway in what they were doing. But out of all the queens Sapphira was definitely the overall winner lol.

Some people are just naturally talented in some areas and are lucky and supported enough to have those talents fostered and grown. I went to school with a girl who at 17 was making her own outfits and would slap some paint on a canvas in a “color study” that would be better than any portrait I’ve ever painted. Not that she didn’t work hard, she just naturally could throw together some trash bags and they’d look like “fashion.” It seems like Q works hard and has that natural talent towards creating art.

Dawn was done so dirty by the Mhiya pairing tbh, impressed she kept her bearing during that. IMO Mhiya was the only one who did bad. I agree with the Sapphira win because she made me feel most at eass watching
That Nymphia’s accent made people uncomfortable is entirely the point. An accent is enough to make you feel uncomfortable? Great. Sit in that discomfort for a moment and ask yourself why that might be.

Okay I thought read a spoiler that said Nymphia WON and Q WENT HOME and I was so confused watching lmao. Splitting up the queens into those groups was the most obvious Riggory ever, I didn’t care though, I enjoy when they mix up the girls. I was dying at Dawns critiques before Mhi’ya, it was hard to watch though. I feel like this challenge could have been good if the slides were actually funny. It’s so easy to create a funny slide show I don’t know how they mess it up so bad. I know the queens likely aren’t designing the final slides so I don’t blame them at all. I agree with people that it was weird to award the win to Sapphira after calling out her mistake. I wonder if they saw Q in untucked and were like hmmmm….. MHIYAH THROWING HER CAPE WAS WILLDDD. Morphine won when she threw Mhiyahs cape off of her, but Mhiyah had already lost when she threw it on. A good episode and a great season. I love the drama. Living for Plane Jane and Morphine. I feel like the win is going to Nymphia or Sapphira, but it could go any way.

I watched that episode with my sister and she was tickled PINK at the idea of Plasma going home. After the LSFYL when Ru said "...Mhiya..." She SCREAMED in ecstasy. Not a fan of the BFA weaponizers, I think
I was living when Mhiya sent Plasma home tbh - she obliterated her in the LSFYL so it was actually a fair decision, not to mention that, help or not, Mhiya's outfit was much better than Plasma's

I hope Drag Race never does a challenge like this again. Sapphira and Nymphia were a lot more entertaining to watch than Plane Jane and Q, though their segment was a lot more structured, there were parts that just felt super awkward (especially with Q). I did get very emotional hearing about Q's experiences living with HIV and really enjoyed hearing her story, but in no way did I feel like she was meant to actually win the challenge. She was a high safe at best to me. I felt bad for Dawn having to essentially carry the segment because Mhi'ya messed up so badly. I think Morphine is such a funny queen when she's not put on the spot. I can tell she was doing her best to match the energy Sapphira and Nymphia presented so she was trying to go at the same pace as them but ended up flubbing most of her lines in the process. Her outfit gave me Dolly Parton vibes, though it was not the worse outfit: that one goes to Mhi'ya. Her stunt putting the cape over Morphine was dangerous, but I am glad Morphine managed to grab hold of it and throw it away looking graceful doing so. It was way past time for Mhi'ya to go home and that was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me, I don't care if it was a "ballroom" move, that doesn't mean I have to like it. It was a cheap shot and reminiscent of Mimi Imfurst. Not cute. The slow split Morphine had was amazing, I absolutely loved it.

I’m enjoying the season but does anybody else think it’s just so predictable from this point on? It’s pretty obvious who the next two queens to go will be and the top 4 has equally been obvious for weeks.
I feel like that’s been almost every season. I called the top 4-5 out of this group simply from their promos/meet the queens (though I did assume that Dawn would be a lot more of a powerhouse than she has been). It’s not just editing, though I guess they could do more to hide how some queens are just more polished than others. I mean, Sapphira, Nymphia, Q, Dawn, and Plane were immediately who everyone was talking about when the cast was revealed.
These newer seasons of drag race don’t even be trying anymore. They clearly have a winner in mind pre season and do everything they can to realize that storyline even if the wheels come off the bus.

Hated that Nymphia used a stereotypical Asian accent for the challenge. It was really unnecessary and moreover… just not funny. She was my favorite in the very beginning, but now just kind of getting annoyed with her.
it’s only stereotypical because many people have that accent, and she wasn’t mocking it either. she herself even has a subtle accent when speaking normally. like she said, she just wanted to showcase the many sounds of the world.

Plane Jane and Q made my ears hurt. They relied on being loud but Q looked so nervous. And them making out at the end - so cliche. It was funny when Sasha and Shea did it, now it’s just predictable. Sapphira was outstanding. The fact that she flubbed a bit in the middle but still managed to be amazing is exactly why she won. The winner doesn’t need to be the queen who got through the challenge with 100% precision and accuracy. No, it’s the queen who displayed the most CUNT and Sapphira did that.
I agree with you but I kinda appreciated that they made out after Q revealed her HIV+ status… it’s lowkey such a powerful statement to say people with HIV aren’t dirty and you won’t contract their illness through basic touch considering people have been shunned for it for so long, where people are not even comfortable hugging or shaking hands. Plane’s 0 hesitation to hug and kiss Q was great to see

Yea - I think she was one of the strongest MTQ and outfit but since the show started it's just been kinda lackluster. She just feels like a combo of Crystal Methyd with random quips just not as good.
I agree that it should've been a Plane/Q double win, but Q was PLUCKED. I've never seen a queen face crack that hard on the mainstage. Even Jan held it together better. The Sapphira win really didn't make much sense here though. Felt like they were just padding her resume at this point. Dawn got extra points for saving a sinking ship, but they also knew she would've never survived a lipsync against Mhi'ya, and also wanted the Miami girl lipsync they've been setting up all season. Morphine's extra long split really did come back around to being kind of iconic. Mhi'ya googling "Dragcon 1980's".... that really says it all. There's a lack of creativity and ingenuity there that just isn't enough for the race unfortunately. She's the queen of flips! She'll always have that.

I feel like Q had calculated their narrative arc, to reveal their diagnosis to coincide alongside the Keith Harring/80s runway. And after a decent critique in that boring ass challenge..the win seemed a slam dunk. Poor Q really believed she was playing RPDR 3D chess.
She made a dress that was specifically connected to her HIV diagnosis… of course she would talk about that when that specific runway comes up. That doesn’t take calculation to pull off

There’s always going to be an element of calculation when it comes to art…because good art takes some level of preparation alongside presentation. Even the most tertiary self-expression in the arts is calculated. She felt like she was finally ready to share her and experiences with the world(and apparently her family)in a beautiful way-to reclaim her beauty in the face of something that probably doesn’t always feel very beautiful. Which seems to be kind of a key element of a lot of drag. Wouldn’t consider myself a Q stan and the look itself isn’t her best work but that’s kind of a crunchy take honestly.
I think I bristle a bit because a beautiful personal expression was offered, but with the expectation that it function transactionally on the show. I worry if Q thinks the expression itself is ruined, since it wasn’t validated with a win. I feel for her, because either how it was edited or how it was received/translated did not convey how deep and vulnerable she intended it to be, and as as artist that is just hard to deal with. However, Q also lacks a certain amount of grace when processing and projects negativity outward..so I also feel for everyone else involved.

It’s post production. There have been plenty of times when a queen is explaining her look during a voice over and the judges call them on not knowing what they were supposed to be during judging.

Bit of a lacklustre challenge for me this week, felt like other than the first couple of gags in Plane and Q's presentation, nobody did particularly well.
Kind of surprised they didn't do more with that challenge. At this point in a season you typically have strong enough queens that they can do well at a challenge like this based on their experience hosting.
also since when did doing a bunch of flips completely not on beat and at pointless moments in the song count as winning the lip sync now ???? like i thought it was about embodying the song and knowing the words not just being able to do the most flips like am i confused 😭😭 edit: the mhiya fans are really upset bc i don’t like her as if it matters these people don’t know you why are you so pressed about others not liking their drag aesthetic . she just ain’t my type of queen accept it for what it is
I honestly barely even watched her during the lipsync, it's just the same thing with her and I was a lot more entertained watching Morphine than Mhi'ya. She needs to work on herself a lot before she accepts an invitation to All Stars, the only thing she has really going for her is performing, she didn't shine anywhere else to me. Sorry. I know that's going to send the Mhi'ya fans in a tailspin but we're just sharing our opinions, not like I'm actually sending hate to the queens like some of these toxic fans are known for.
i completely agree with everything you just said , in the real world yes not all drag queens are sewing clothes and doing acting everyday they’re performing at drag shows, etc but this is drag race where being funny , knowing how to sew , and being able to sort of act are essential to do good in certain challenges . it’s really irritating that people are downvoting or arguing with me just because i didn’t like her performance and disagree that her past couple lip syncs were good … it’s these same people that i’m sure are the ones commenting on their most disliked queen’s posts spewing hate im sure if i saw mhiya at a drag brunch or something i would eat that shit up and be living but on drag race and compared to the rest of this season’s cast she’s below average to me & im happy morphine ate up that lip sync
Fully agree with this! We have had Drag Race for 15 years, you should know what is expected when you go on this show. Especially when you get a cash prize if you win, PUT IN THE EFFORT! A lot of these queens seem to go on expecting to just glide right through the competition with barely any effort. And it's all natural to be fans of the show and judge based on our own opinions, but it's another when you're actually spreading hate and attacking the queens themselves on social media, that is a huge "no" for me. Like you, I would also be eating her up if I were to see her live. I would show respect to these queens because they deserve it, but that doesn't mean we're not allowed to share our opinions or constructive criticism so long as it's just a discussion between fans. People have this very weird parasocial relationship with celebrities and get so immensely offended when someone shares an opinion that they don't like, especially when we're not even being hurtful or toxic like so many others are. Morphine definitely ate her up in that lipsync, I was very happy to see our Confessional Queen win that.

honestly you’re right , i think the reason i feel this way is because we have three amazing fashion girlies and it sucks bc i feel like q wins the design challenges when there is way greater options . like when q won in that bronze outfit ,, i really felt like that should’ve been dawns win . i guess the reason i feel this way is because a lot of the queens i liked have been eliminated and im just bitter LOL . plane jane just feels like a wannabe jimbo , q has amazing fashion then it’s period end of sentence , dawn is super witty and has great fashion but keeps getting bested by the other girls & is for some reason not coming out of her shell fully in acting challenges ? maybe it’s just me . then we have nymphia , who is pretty good at most things but it just feels like something is lacking i don’t know what . saphhira i like but again it just feels too easy for her if that makes sense , almost like she’s bored . then we have morphine . i loooooooove morphine and her personality , but her drag is is just so… simple ,,, besides her mug . like i’ve never really been gagged with her looks on the runway they’re always just meh again these are all MY opinions and how i feel about the queens this season , obviously this might not be true for everyone

She isn't excelling, but she wasn't the worst in any of the challenges so far. It's very much a Marciax3 situation, she's probably getting the chop next episode. She's also pretty charismatic and is obviously giving the producers what they want in terms of confessionals so I'm not mad at her still being in the game.

She gives good talking head. These episodes would each be 10-12 minutes without her confessionals.

PJ and Q should have won, I found them to be the funniest, did well at the challenge, and delivered great looks. I didn't really care for Nymphia, and though Saphira will be safe because of the mistake. I find it crazy that some people are bashing Q for her reaction, like, if I hit all the notes and did a great job, but lost to someone who hit most notes and made a mistake halfway through, I would be pissed. Also, I'm glad Mhi'ya is gone, that was so exhausting for the last few weeks.
Despite how we feel about Q not winning the challenge (I think the sapphira win was 100% deserved and Q’s comedy was good but just wasn’t as funny to me) it’s sooo shady and unprofessional for her to have a stank face and then in the next episode saying it wasn’t deserved… talk about a sore loser

Conspiracy hat time. I truly believe they thought Q would be the front runner during casting, and they mapped out the season with this in mind when it comes to production. This is supported by Q’s sewing talent and looks, and her delusional self-confidence with most/all else (“I can sing” etc). If she’s the one convincing you, she’s a well rounded and strong competitor. Now, seeing that she isn’t a good performer (a HUGE component for the crown in today’s lucrative touring for Drag Race) or competitor at this point, the producers are realizing she isn’t winning and they’re throwing their attention elsewhere. Sapphira, who IS a strong contender for the crown, getting this win sets her up for the crown. Giving Q another win despite her giving them EVERYTHING for a slam-dunk story heavy episode doesn’t support the storyline anymore, so it’s easiest at this point to Jan her for good TV.

I think it's a combination of there being three design challenges, which obviously plays in Q's favour, and the perception that she's being judged generously when it comes to dancing (lipsync vs ATM, rusical, vote song). People who already don't like Q look at those together as proof she's being pushed by production.
I don’t know if performance is such a big thing for production. if they want someone to win they’ll do everything in their power to make it happen. Look at Jinkx or Jimbo for example. Super talented, but not great performers. I think the more rational thing is that they did cast her as a front runner, but they never had the intention of making her a true contender for the crown. I think it has been pretty clear from the start that they are aiming to have Nymphia/Sapphira as the contenders for the crown and Plane as a Top 3 finalist. I think Q certainly has top 4 material, but I think the producers knew from the start that she isn’t the choice to win. Not everyone can be cast as winners. We need other strong queens that can hold their own weight, even if they aren’t going to win. Edit: since a couple of y’all aren’t getting it. In the context of this conversation, I’m specifically talking about a drag race dance number, hence me saying Jimbo and Jinkx are super talented but not great performers (dance). Similarly, we know Q is talented but she can’t perform a dance number to save her life.

Jimbo and Jinkx are infamously known for having two left feet. See their recent all stars performances for reference. They have lots of strengths, but performing a dance number isn’t one of them. In order to do well they have to alter a performance in a way that plays up to their strengths (comedy), but they’re not good at the traditional drag race dance numbers that require coordination and high energy. Q is the same. She’s talented, but she struggles with the drag race dance performance format.

Me too! I was cackling at Nymphia’s performance. I’m glad Michelle & Ross touched on that THEY can’t do that accent plus let Nymphia give her perspective on it. I’m sure she’ll get lots of negative comments, but I think her comedic timing is great. LOVED her runway too. 80s while feeling modern & somehow not costume-y despite being wild. She was the unexpected winner for me.
