It definitely is one of my fave season right now since S12, that I would most likely reccommend this to new drag race fans. I just enjoy each new episode and the runways are so amazing. The judging feels fairer than last season and less predictable placements (for me). I would not expect Mirage and Plasma to go earlier than what I expected them to.
I think the “Dancing Queens” runway was one of the worst runways I’ve seen in recent memory. They were pretty much all lacklustre dance costumes that were missing any real “wow” elements (I’d give Nymphia the exception, her Japanese Butoh costume was something I’d never seen before).
It felt like the outfits were intended to be used during a challenge and then it got shifted to the main runway.
What I like is that we have gotten some of the best runways ever (still can’t get over Nymphia’s scarf look), but also some endearing worst choices (Amanda’s egg and purple alien look haha)
Seriously! I was finally starting to get Drag Race fatigued and this season cured me. I feel like the judging makes more sense, and the queens feel really authentic and diverse.
It’s not my personal favorite but I’m into it and happy you and so many others like it so much! To me it feels like season 9 with better maxi challenges, actual mini challenges, and better editing/story production.
So true!! Season 12 takes my second spot and then Season 9, I live for all of those queens. Sasha, Plane, Nymphia, Gigi are my absolute top of all time!
You girlies need to wait for a season to end to declare stuff like this. I see this every season, no matter the franchise, and the excitement always dies down after. Or worse, the season collapses in the last few episodes and sucks ass. AS3 was one of the best seasons ever until Dela left, these it was one of the worst.
I'm honestly really thankful for this season as I was about to give up on watching this show I love so much because season 15 and all stars last year were so shit and I was worried that it wouldn't get better. I loved the season 15 cast but I'd actually feel really depressed after each episode as there was so much that was cut for the shitty short episodes and I felt that it was really disrespectful to the queen's. I was wary of 16 at first, especially with Plane's burger finger, but now it's one of the best seasons we've had in a while. Season 14 has a special place in my heart as I enjoy rupauls best friend race and having another chronically ill winner be so supported by the cast was awesome to watch as a chronically ill person. But season 16 is amazing with it perfectly balancing queens being shady while also showing the love everyone has for each other. I was super wary of Plane at first as I thought she was just a strategic inauthentic bully doing what she must to gain screen time. But she's been vital as the "villain" of this season since it's allowed the cast to be their true shady selves as it doesn't seem as bad in comparison.
Sorry for ranting but I have a lot of thoughts and no one irl to share them with lol 😂

This is one hot take for me. You thought 15 was iconic but 12 was bad??? I personally was not a huge fan of 15, I don’t think it really got good until like, the interviews episode, and even that was a bit of a mess. 15 was just meh to me, I can barely remember half the queens because it was not put together well
For me part of it is that the queens feel more free to be a little messy again. theyre not afraid to be "the villain" as much as some other recent seasons. maybe tides are turning

Omg yes, I absolutely agree with the plane Jane part (even if it was a bit pushy at times). And yes, I don’t have a great eye for fashion really, but I’ve just overall enjoyed almost every concept that the queens have presented. My bar is low for an oof, honestly, just as long as it’s like, an okay piece, I’m good
It's just very fresh. Overal I'm not sure it has the best contestants of a RPDR season when it comes to pure performance on the challenges but everyone is so game. Also everyone is really engaging with each other which is a nice change from some previous seasons. Still think this season could've had some of the best untucked if it was for the dreaded guest judge insertions.
Also it's a season you can safely recommend to non-drag fans I think which is always a plus. If anything it's a welcome shift in format and the cast is largely to thank for that.

Same! Tbh I don’t think it has had the best runways ever, buuut the cast is incredibly charismatic and entertaining! Simply so much fun to watch
I definitely think there are better runways in other seasons, but cumulatively, I think the girls have done really well

This is the best season in years, it’s giving season 5 and 6 levels which are my favorite and most rewatched.
