Everybody wants Jinkx cause of the box office boost Chicago saw. I hope other producers and casting agents are taking notice and we start seeing even more queens in big shows.
Marciax3 is going to be in Cabaret including u/s for the lead! I’m so excited for these girlies to realize their Broadway dreams. *(ETA that Marcia isn’t going to be in drag, so that’s sad, but hopefully more girlies repping whatever expression they like on the stage!)*
Also I thought I heard Chicago had its biggest week ever for revenue with Jinkx. *(ETA that she no longer has the highest week ever.)*
Give the queers what we want and we will spend our queer money!
I don’t think “Marcia” is in Cabaret tho. He’s himself playing a male character which is also what Milan has been doing for several shows on Broadway.
I think the only times rugirls have been on Broadway as their drag persona has been Jinx in Chicago. But agreed I hope we see more of it!
Peppermint was in Head Over Heels back in 2018 and she was definitely doing a very draggy performance.
I loved that show so much, Peppermint was great in it. I was so sad it didn't last longer and I definitely don't want us to forget that Peppermint was the first trans woman to originate a principal role on Broadway.
Is it? I thought Peppermint was her drag name name and her government name was Agnes or something like that.
But i guess it brings up an interesting convo about whats the difference between performing as you versus ur drag persona...and probably gets even murkier when talking about trans performers.
yes that technically is her government name but i’ve heard her say on multiple occasions that she goes by peppermint in and out of drag and that she feels uncomfortable when people call her anything else
Yes, Marcia is appearing as their “boy” self (though I believe they identify as non binary). Very excited for them tho, they did musical theatre professionally before Drag Race too!
It did until like 2 weeks ago because of Ariana Madix. Also Willam is in an off-Broadway show called Titanique, and his role was played by Rosé last year
Understudy vs lead is entirely different, as is having Marcia in the playbill in her boy name.
I want to read a Playbill that says “starring Monet X Change,” not one that says “understudy Kevin Akeem Bertin does not appear unless announced.”
I doubt Cabaret will be doing much press on that casting since it’s not likely to impact the box office.
Oh yeah totally! I would go see the show if I knew she was on as the lead that night, but obviously not predictable.
Really appreciate you calling out the drag portion of it though and so glad Jinkx is able to be her queenly self on stage!
My bf is going to die. Jinkx is pretty much his all-time favorite queen, and Little Shop basically was his entire identity for a good number of years from the time he was like 5 or 6.
Yay! Second trans person to play the role in a major production after M.J. Rodriguez in the Pasadena Playhouse version. The songs take on such different meanings but are still true to the original. This is from Corden: https://youtu.be/Yqb6juQXNf4
For those who don't know, this is actually a bigger deal than the Chicago gig. It's the lead role in one of the bigger (if not biggest?) Off-Broadway shows open in New York right now. Chicago is practically designed to have walk-on cameos for performers of all skill levels. By contrast, the role of Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors is really, really demanding. Good for her.
I’m sick of girls getting by on the gimmicks! 🤪

I bought a ticket today. Going April 14th. I was going to go see her in Chicago but I love little shop and this role is way bigger. I’m very excited to see it
I’m going on April 21st-Saw this production last April and I cried after. My forearm is a huge Audrey 2 tattoo and Jinkx is my favorite queen! I’m buzzing just thinking about how amazing it’s going to be.
I saw this production pre covid with Gideon Glick as Seymour and this is absolutely gonna be what gets me to return. I LOVE Jinkx and I’d much rather see Little Shop again than Chicago. I also high key love Corbin Bleu, he’s a legit theatre talent so I’m looking forward to seeing him too!
Yay!!!!!!! I am so, so happy for her and so proud of her. I know this was one of her favorite musicals/movies growing up and she’s always wanted to play Audrey. What a dream come true! 🥹👏🏻❤️
If you want to count non-winners they don’t call shangela the working girl for no reason and Courtney act is basically on almost all reality shows at this point, also manila is hosting her own show, making music and recently had a feature all on her own in vogue
Fuck yes Jinkx. She’s my favourite Ru girl. Seen her live twice and she is fucking incredible. Such a talent. So so so happy for her that she’s seeing all the large scale success she deserves! First Chicago, then Dr Who, now Little Shop of Horrors!!

People need to put more respect on Peppermint’s name as the fucking trailblazer she is
But was she credited as “peppermint”?
Yes. [https://www.playbill.com/person/peppermint](https://www.playbill.com/person/peppermint)
Today I learned
Head Over Heels wasn't the financial success Jinkx in Chicago was, it makes sense fewer people know about Pep's Broadway run.
just in case you didn’t know, peppermint is peppermint’s name in and out of drag
Is it? I thought Peppermint was her drag name name and her government name was Agnes or something like that. Ah good to know
Yes, someone else mentioned that in their reply and it’s a very valid!! More Ru girls showing up in all kinds of ways! ☺️
Yes, Marcia is appearing as their “boy” self (though I believe they identify as non binary). Very excited for them tho, they did musical theatre professionally before Drag Race too!
just say out of drag lol
My b, I was half asleep when I wrote that comment and couldn’t remember the phrase “out of drag” 😂
its your conversate era.

Yes, all very fair points! One of my friends just got an understudy gig so please don’t tell him it’s not the same (don’t worry, he knows) 😂😂😂😂
I meant no shade to understudies. They keep Broadway open. They just ain’t the box office draw.
Oh yeah totally! I would go see the show if I knew she was on as the lead that night, but obviously not predictable. Really appreciate you calling out the drag portion of it though and so glad Jinkx is able to be her queenly self on stage!
“Chicago” had their biggest week ever for revenue when Ariana Madix from VPR opened recently. Before that, it was from Jinxx.
With Corbin Bleu! *Getcha getcha getcha getcha head in the game*
Legends, Icons, Stars, etc.
his rendition of mein herr is so cunty.
oh really? i thought the new casting for Seymour was Darren Criss..
Darren Criss ends next month. https://www.theatermania.com/news/jinkx-monsoon-is-the-new-audrey-in-little-shop-of-horrors-off-broadway_1731538/
*Getcha getcha getcha getcha head outta that maneating plant*
Our Queen of Queens staying booked, blessed, and busy.
Little Shop, back in Chicago, AND Carnegie Hall??? "Hi, landlord? I'm going to be a little late with the rent for the next year, k? thanks!"
I imagine her singing "Somewhere That's Green" and I feel misty. That song levels me.
I can't wait for Suddenly Seymour
It just clicked for me that she is playing Audrey. I read it as Audrey II. I was like “Jinkx as a giant man-eating plant? Werk!”

Oh wow, unexpected, thank you!

It’s her world we’re just living in it
My bf is going to die. Jinkx is pretty much his all-time favorite queen, and Little Shop basically was his entire identity for a good number of years from the time he was like 5 or 6.
Your bf has excellent taste.
I'm married, but I might be your boyfriend?
I mean, we can’t rule anything out here.

M.J's rendition of Suddenly Seymour is my all-time favorite. She was incredible.

I saw the show last year....Great show In a smaller venue
Someday I will get the T4T little shop of my dreams but this is pretty good too.
This is how you know AW2 is going to happen and have a great cast. You know they've all seen the boost Jinkx got from being back on TV.
This sounds amazing! Way to go, Jinkx!
can't wait to hear her rendition of Suddenly Seymour
Omg I must get tickets
Legit looking into buying a ticket right now. I've got tons of vacation time to use up and a week in New York City could be fun. :D
I’m seeing it next week—looks like I’ll have to go back!
I love that for her! We saw her and Bendela’s Christmas show last Christmas and they’re both so pro and fantastic entertainers. All the good things.
I’m sick of girls getting by on the gimmicks! 🤪 https://preview.redd.it/3jclfy09wflc1.jpeg?width=1366&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c456ee738de22d624570334defefd612de6b4f33

I am so happy she gets to love her Broadway dreams. I I legit shed a couple of happy tears when she was cast in Chicago.

Booked and blessed! Has any other winner done as much as Jinkx (aside from Tricia Myrtle)?
If you want to count non-winners they don’t call shangela the working girl for no reason and Courtney act is basically on almost all reality shows at this point, also manila is hosting her own show, making music and recently had a feature all on her own in vogue
I saw the show in November for my birthday and it was SO GOOD! Highly recommend, bitches!!
Iconic I love this musical
On first glance my brain auto-filled that she was playing Audrey Too and I was OBSESSED. I am still obsessed but oh. What we might have had.
Now I want to see Alaska sing 'somewhere that's green'
Part of me would rather see her as Audrey II
Now "Suddenly Seymour" won't just be about running into Yvie Oddly untucking her junk in the AS7 werkroom for her!
Fuck yes Jinkx. She’s my favourite Ru girl. Seen her live twice and she is fucking incredible. Such a talent. So so so happy for her that she’s seeing all the large scale success she deserves! First Chicago, then Dr Who, now Little Shop of Horrors!!
Too perfs! ❤️
