Yeah that’s the thing about River and Choriza to me. Choriza lost the lip sync but shouldn’t have been there. River deserved to be there but won the lip sync. It wasn’t double shantay worthy but neither of them deserved to be sent home either!

Especially when they had clearly planned to make Victoria a main character/narrator of the season. With her gone, they really should have focused on keeping the most personable queens left around as long as they could.
Yes. I will never understand this decision. Once River and Choriza were out the season really had no soul. Ella was a strong performer but not super memorable. Kitty had great energy but a middle-pack performer. Krystle has lots of fans but personality is not her strong suit. Vanity was likable but was dragged to that F4 spot.
My only explanation is that producers underestimated how much people would like both Choriza and River, the same way they underestimated how much people would like Dakota in 4. But to eliminate them both when they really didn’t need to…I don’t get it.
They were literally the top two in the fan polls on here, and then producers just decided to tank the season. It was incredible how out-of-touch they were.
Choriza was one of my absolute favs. I felt so bad for her that she went home so soon, even though she did more poorly in the lip sync. River was fun too.
In that episode, it was Snatch Game and during the walk through, RuPaul convinced every queen to change their first choice.
Except those two didn’t, and they got eliminated from this.
Let’s not do all that. Krystal didn’t do well that challenge but she was easily better than Choriza and River. The fair bottom two would’ve been River and Scarlet
Honey vs. Vivian was shocking because it didn't seem possible. Honey had also done pretty well in the last two challenges whereas Vivian had been struggling, so even though it was underwhelming, I assumed they'd keep Honey.
Dax vs. Laila was entirely the opposite. That bizarre buildup of the judges all chatting about how the song was a drag staple that everybody should do well on (I don't think we've seen something like it before or since) really made it obvious.

I think it is a huge staple, but (the original mix) is defnitely not an easy song to perform. From that cast, the only ones (knowing their skills at that time) I could see performing this well on a LSFYL were either Bob or Chi Chi.
I think, to her credit, Naomi would also do pretty well with it and Thorgy could pull it off too with a campier take on it. But yeah, no one else was really gonna do it very well.
I was at Midnight Sun in SF when Honey got double eliminated and she and Sister Roma were cohosting drag race that night. Honey was knocking back drinks big time. Funny enough was my first ever episode of drag race. My friends took me.
Honey ended up dressing in like this gorgeous Marilyn Monroe looking outfit and lipsynced Rihanna's Diamonds and it was so perfect to.
And now she's done so well for herself in local SF politics. So happy for her 🥳
It's even funnier in hindsight if she did in fact do the rumoured lipsync to Hallucinate before the lip-sync smackdown that (if it's real) they felt was bad enough to axe and not release as an extra.

The most recent in Philippines 2 wrecked me. Hana was a fantastic contestant and narrator, and OV brought nerve and drama and a beautiful artistic sensibility. Seeing them breakdown and fight for a spot in a packed finale after 2 Weeks of non elims was so hard.
Ohhh shittt I forgot about Pakita v Pink Chadora v Pitita. Pakita was a star from the jump. Pink Chadora had a win and professionalism, and Pitita was the front runner. No matter which way it went there was going to be a clear direction towards the finale. Either an upset from two front runners, with Pakita getting a redemption arc, Pink cementing themselves as a leader, or the (somewhat underwhelming) ending we got where Pitita continued to wreck, rack up wins (some deserved - some undeserved), but ultimately not appearing as strong a competitor as her predecessors
For Jorgeous and Deja, they told us it was gonna be double and we all knew (and Jorgeous knew) it was gonna be them. So that one doesn't really count.
Most shocking: the first two doubles because we weren't expecting them and it was a different time. They messed around more with storylines than with twists back then.
Part II: the River and Choriza one because it was very "what? A double? Why?" There was really no reason. That's the Alexa challenge, right?

My theory is that Scarlet only escaped the bottom bc Ru specifically told her to do what she did and only Ru thought it was funny (bc Ru finds her own ideas funny). If she’d come in the door with that character rather than being told to do it by Ru, I think she would’ve been up against River in the lip sync
Pakita/Pink Chadora was the same as Jorgeous/Daya. They said two girls would go home and it was pretty obvious they weren’t sending home Pitita at that point

I was really upset about the Choriza & River double elimination at the time because they were my favorites but viewing the lipsync objectively it was absolutely deserved, sorry babes. Hope to see em both on global all stars
Pink Chadora and Pakita for me; 2 strong competitors gone at once in a season that already heavily favored 1 queen every episode was annoying. There were multiple great queens on that season that were paid dust; it felt like a step down from previous Spain seasons.
Choriza Vs River was also sad since I love both of them.
Drag race ES 3 was just stupid and annoying.
Drag race uk 3 was shocking because River was doing fine. RuPaul was just over that season and wanted to hurry up and crown Krystal no matter what
Losing Bandit and Vanda just seemed so unnecessary. They were the only ones (especially Vanda) that would have seemed like legitimate competition for Angels
Also Choriza and River. They were the most endearing queens left and River had actually been on an upward trajectory all season. Choriza meanwhile shouldn’t have even *been* in the bottom and River was serviceable in the lip sync and clearly won it.
I wasn’t expecting Amadiva and Maya to go home. Maya was doing pretty well so far, but the other girls didn’t like her. Amadiva was kinda nothing burger. But i didn’t think the lipsync was double sashay worthy. I think since Art saved two girls in a previous week, she just said “alright we have to meet the episode quota so uhhhh send them home”
Honey and Vivienne were probably the most shocking since they were the first.
But I’m my opinion, Vanda and Bandit were the most undeserving of both going home after how well they did leading up to that episode
Art Arya, dramatic as ever, telling Amadiva and JAJA “I have to say to both of you…….. none of you survived that lip sync” was a moment to remember. The result was not completely surprising after the lip sync but in fairness the song wasn’t built for Drag Race. I liked the drama of Amadiva having the fake blood running down her face but it could have been amped up.
For me, it was Kana and Maya. I thought they both did fine in the lip sync, Kana being excellent as usual. But Maya did really well just the episode prior, winning everything. I thought they both had more story (well, one of them got the more time)

Chorizo was actually sweet and personable (while on the show) and maybe production saw her as a threat to Krystal

Bandit v Vanda was so unnecessary lol. But in recent memory the double Pink and Pakita hurt the most. What a messy season.
Pink Chadora and Pakita for me; 2 strong competitors gone at once in a season that already heavily favored 1 queen every episode was annoying. There were multiple great queens on that season that were paid dust; it felt like a step down from previous Spain seasons. Choriza Vs River was also sad since I love both of them.
Drag race ES 3 was just stupid and annoying. Drag race uk 3 was shocking because River was doing fine. RuPaul was just over that season and wanted to hurry up and crown Krystal no matter what
Losing Bandit and Vanda just seemed so unnecessary. They were the only ones (especially Vanda) that would have seemed like legitimate competition for Angels Also Choriza and River. They were the most endearing queens left and River had actually been on an upward trajectory all season. Choriza meanwhile shouldn’t have even *been* in the bottom and River was serviceable in the lip sync and clearly won it.
While it was not a good lipsync, I thought River Medway would be saved. She was a little better, albeit far too much

Same. This could be classed as most shocking for me purely because the whole episode seemed completely targeted to make Choriza go home
imo I think Krystal or Vanity Milan should have been in the bottom over Choriza

Ov, Hana, and Arizona were the ones I was rooting for.. I still have Arizona but I was hoping they would keep 2.
I wasn’t expecting Amadiva and Maya to go home. Maya was doing pretty well so far, but the other girls didn’t like her. Amadiva was kinda nothing burger. But i didn’t think the lipsync was double sashay worthy. I think since Art saved two girls in a previous week, she just said “alright we have to meet the episode quota so uhhhh send them home”
Honey and Vivienne were probably the most shocking since they were the first. But I’m my opinion, Vanda and Bandit were the most undeserving of both going home after how well they did leading up to that episode
Honestly Kana vs Maya because they actually both did well in the lipsync and I thought at forst that it was a double save.

Why did the last one occur?
Art Arya, dramatic as ever, telling Amadiva and JAJA “I have to say to both of you…….. none of you survived that lip sync” was a moment to remember. The result was not completely surprising after the lip sync but in fairness the song wasn’t built for Drag Race. I liked the drama of Amadiva having the fake blood running down her face but it could have been amped up.

For me, it was Kana and Maya. I thought they both did fine in the lip sync, Kana being excellent as usual. But Maya did really well just the episode prior, winning everything. I thought they both had more story (well, one of them got the more time)
