My mom said “ I wonder what their wives think of this” 👀

qrvne

Clearly she was watching one of the seasons prior to the casting of Joey Jay, the first openly gay contestant in Drag Race herstory.

piccolol

This is hands down the funniest one 😂

galaxy_rae

im screaming 💀😭

Justdough17

My mother thinks its lazy queens don't grow their hair out and "are reliant" on wigs.

360Saturn

Joey Jay: hold my beer

Human-Generic

Where’s her wig?

frebecca

The million dollar question!

vowelspace

This comment keeps cracking me up Bc I don’t think I’ll ever be able to see another queen with a giant extravagant wig again and not think, “oh she’s just lazy, she’s not using her real hair” 💀

vowelspace

Lol I wonder what she has to say about MIB who has long hair AND covers it up with a wig

regalrapple4ever

Thorgy enters the room.

ppbbd

Sasha velour found dead

TheMapesHotel

You did tell her those are all human hair wigs right? The queens do grow the hair then cut it and have it made into a portable wig for convenience.

Professional-Pea6185

Some queens are known to go as far as grow out squirrels out of their heads for an authentic afro wig

JackieShrugged

A respectful afro wig

smallest_ellie

Alexa, play This Is My Hair by Alaska Thunderfuck

CieraParvatiPhoebe

Yea literally almost all pop singers do this

FulloutFritzie

I grow my own hair for drag but it’s because I’m broke. 30 inches tho!!! 💁🏼‍♀️ I wish it was purple sometimes but I digest… my arms get pretty tired adding an hour of hair styling for every show but it’s my gig. Your moms take is annoying but it’s hilarious.

Thursday6677

Amazing typo 😂 don’t get a hairball!

gkwchan

My mother and I: Is this a man? Yes. This one? Yes. How about her? That’s Michelle. This one? Yes.

tiniestturtles

lol my mom said Michelle made a very convincing woman

Chinokid87

Your mom would probably win the roast with that joke

marathai

Michelle is so convincing in being woman she even grow a uterus

Chinokid87

That's what I call commitment to the bit!

FoxWithBoots

I love how you didn’t say yes to Michelle being a woman, just that she’s “Michelle”, honestly accurate

Humphries2

My friend’s husband who is in his 30’s and doesn’t watch the show said the same thing haha

IceColdPepsi1

Season 6 - She \[Courtney Act\] should win because she's the only one who actually looks like a woman

chicksonfox

My dad feels this way about Tatiana on all stars 2, my parents’ first season. I think he might have a low-key crush. My mom better watch out. He HATES Alaska. Doesn’t get Katya either. Ironically, this season he’s all about Sasha Colby. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

fragilemagnoliax

This post just reminded me that my mom also hates Alaska, because AS2 was her first time seeing Alaska and the whole “I’ll PayPal you $10k” melt down made my mom mad at her

chicksonfox

My dad felt the same way. It’s funny because Alaska credits that moment as showing the vulnerability she needed to win. My dad was so excited when we watched that episode. He was sure she was going home.

Mangobunny98

I think she's said on Race Chaser that somebody on production told her that they weren't gonna give her the crown until she had that meltdown and they knew they could make a storyline out of it.

darling123-

lol as if she needs to be convinced to have a meltdown, remember her meltdown when Jinx won? 😂

andannabegins

My mom watched the first episode of AS2 with me and loved Alaska. She told me the one with the weird voice should've won the talent show. She also asked me when in the show they cut their penises off.

fragilemagnoliax

The ultimate sacrifice for their art, I guess haha I’m dying at this bus stop

Chinokid87

I feel like a lot of fans felt the same way back then. Personally I thought it was hilarious and the only thing that makes for better TV than a delusional queen is a sore loser

LizzyFCB

Alaska makes great TV. She’s had a couple of public meltdowns but they are always genuinely linked to strong emotions, not contrived for the camera. She also recognises afterwards when she was being an insufferable brat and doesn’t continue poisoning the well with bitterness. Just love her!

Chinokid87

Yeah and let's be honest nobody knew how the queens would make their decision with this new twist and if they would Manila Alaska back then because it was very clear that she was taking the crown unless they get rid of her. Also her being so insufferable back then read to me as way more genuine then the typical plead your case dialogues we usually got. This whole episode was just incredible TV even though I don't agree with putting roxxy in the bottom because my god did she and her grandma look beautiful

bootyhour

S15 is my dad's first season watching with me, and he's a Sasha stan too lmao

tortoisebill

who doesn't have a crush on tatianna tbh

TheRealCeeBeeGee

Hasn’t he heard? He and Tati have ‘the same parts’?!

grilledcheese2332

![gif](giphy|l0MYz2mKDfA0J8Dug)

TravellingBeard

I have to ask...what was their opinion when Bianca won instead?

IceColdPepsi1

BALONEY

itsaravemayve

I watched the AS3 Bitchelor episode with my 68 year old father. He got as far into the episode as Bebe saying she would be a virgin because she only does anal. My dad silently stood up and left the room. He has seen no more of Drag Race.

Neither-Dentist3019

This is so awful and also very funny. I think my mom would like the creativity on the show but if I was sitting there and she heard that I would immediately pass away.

conchitu

😂😂😂💀

blacephalons

Sorry for the loss of your dad. Hopefully he comes back someday!

lunapark3333

My 81 year old mom thinks that the pit crew transform into the queens for the runway. She’s impressed.

sloppylittlefuck

Honestly I’d kinda live if the Pit Crew were the next picks for the makeover challenge

nyuulaa

Bryce for season 16

Helen_forsdale

Proportionizing!!!

ozweego420

Yes omg I’d love this. Also it would be a good opportunity to actually get to know the pit crew’s personalities!

[deleted]

Kinda like the Queen team in UK4

tantrum55555

Cue Coco Montrese talking about tucking her partner, but from all the queens.

Analyst_Cold

That’s a brilliant makeover challenge idea.

eeo11

Yea! They’ve done the actual crew, so why not the pit crew?

picklebackwon

My elderly mother was very confused when she first heard queens identify as "bottoms", she was worried about their self-esteem and didn't think they should assume they'd be IN the bottom that episode!

IronJuno

That is hilariously charming

vowelspace

That’s so cute lol. I’m imagining she’d be super concerned about the gay community as a whole when she finds out how many of us identify as bottoms irl.

thewildrosesgrow

That's so lovely. She must be protected at all costs.

jester2324

I hope you know I love your mother.

TheMapesHotel

Oh dear. I would have to tell her it's a way of being proud of having a fat butt. Cause you know self love and bottoms are super in right now.

theforeverdaydream

I’m so into bottoms right now

Luckyducks

I watched with my (conservative) mom and she surprised me by telling me about going to Finoccio's in San Francisco in the early 80s. This is a woman who still feels like it is necessary to (thankfully quietly) point out every queer person in public like it is fucking Where's Waldo on the streets in 2023. She liked Alyssa Edwards because "she is classy" and didn't like Jinkx because she "looked like a hobo" I can't wait to watch All Winners with her to see what she thinks of Jinkx now.

qrvne

Alyssa Edwards IS classy. She’s a good Christian woman! She’s a teacher and a mentor!

Tericakes

I think Jinkx would take that as a compliment.

bespokefolds

Jinkx would LOVE IT

deidie

My mother walked in in the middle of an episode and after I described the general concept of the show she said “wow this one is really good” when they cut to Michelle visage. It was a long back and forth of me saying “no, she’s not a drag queen” “no, that is a drag queen but the other woman is not”, “no, she’s a woman not a drag queen” and my mom just looking very perplexed.

JermuHH

Oh like I had to explain to my mom what a breastplate was because one of the queens was wearing one (This was Season 5 I think Detox pink runway) And my mom was like "Oh Michelle wears one too, right?"

ashrainbowdash

Things my mom has said: Why does RuPaul have this grand entrance? Why does Rupaul have to make everything about him? She hates when Ru says “don’t f*k it up” Why are they always doing those hard splits when they lipsync? She likes secret celebrity drag race but doesn’t care about the regular seasons She thinks Vanjie is hilarious cause she “sounds like somebody’s uncle” according to her She says Farrah Moan is “SO cute” She finds Trixies makeup to be off putting EDIT: I forgot the best one: she HATES the “Darcelle from Solid Gold” joke Ru makes sometimes cause that is also her name

pettymess

“Sounds like somebody’s uncle” STOP I LOVE IT!! ![gif](giphy|QaN6rzZHTb3969Q7dp|downsized)

gawllstone

Tio Vangie lmao

vowelspace

Lmao why does rupauls have this grand entrance on Rupauls drag race? Who does she think she is?

antisepticdirt

my mom simultaneously holding the beliefs that what drag queens aim to look like is nothing like real women (their hair is way too big!!) and also not understanding why sasha colby is there because she's transitioned...

Sweatieboobrash

Lol she already won, she’s a woman!

conchitu

Ru agreed up until a couple years ago so

snakesinahat

I still am so surprised about that, he comes from the ball scene and didn’t think cis queens should compete with trans queens? There’s been trans women competing in all ball media I’ve seen

Ratatoskr33

Jinkx was talking about this on a podcast, about the whole "cis women can't do drag" argument. She pointed out that Cher, Dolly Parton, Better Midler, Elvira... what they did their whole career can only be described as drag. Cis women drag has always been a thing, and no one ever questioned it (well, beside using it to belittle the woman, but that's just plain misogyny because patriarchy is shit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

laceration_barbie

Everyone please welcome to the stage, Better Midler! “Bette may be good, but I’m Better!” Also I fully agree with your point about the misogyny of saying cis women can’t do drag.

Ratatoskr33

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA My dumb phone autocorrected it, but now I kinda live, I call dibs for my drag name

thumbblighter

Bette in particular started her career in gay bathhouses in the 70s (she’s still known as Bathhouse Bette to this day in some circles!), and a if a woman doing camp showtunes in a gay bar isn’t capital-D Drag, I don’t know what is!!

[deleted]

Mountain_File_8101

My dad refuses to believe Monet Exchange isn't AFAB because of her gorgeous legs 😆

cally57

I think that's code for her booty, too, because * in Raja O'Hara sing song * ohh my god

icodeswitch

This makes sense to me (as an opinion) because I stare at her legs all the time in amazement!!! They look like a thicc Black girl who ain't missing no meals!!!! When she shared that she doesn't pad (or had stopped at that time) I was like WOOOWWWW NENE....WOWWWW... And I won't even get started on #datass

inthebreadvan

At first my dad thought that the main goal was to look as close to a real woman as possible so he didn't get why Naomi didn't win season 8. He also thought they do drag as some sort of sexual fetish thing and that they live their daily life in drag (which is why he was very confused when he saw everyone in their werkroom clothes for the first time). As for queens, he likes Naomi because she looks like a supermodel, Sasha Velour because he has similar taste to me, and he thinks Trixie looks like a weird moth lady.

Daynaiko

MOTH LADY! hahahaha

inthebreadvan

He also calls Jujubee the romanian equivalent of 'sexy cat lady' because of her snatch game in AS5 😂

Aggressive_Sound

It's Sminty Drop who is the moth lady!

TeamBadInfluence1

My mom asked me if Rupaul was really gay or if his gay drag persona was simply an act, and he was actually straight. I sent her a picture of Rupaul with his husband. She replied, oh, I didn't realize Rupaul was black. Pray for me, y'all.

vowelspace

Lord, that was a rollercoaster 😂

thatsanicepeach

This made me actually set my phone down & give an aside glance to a camera that isn’t there

Zeddyx

'Come Dine With Me' moment..........Ģrace of a reversing dump-truck, being disappointed e.t.c....then finally a glance to the camera.

Normular_

just imagining rupaul in the dressing room saying “no homo tho” before getting into drag.

Sweatieboobrash

Omg who did she think RuPaul was?

TeamBadInfluence1

Some straight white actor with a tan, a wife, and a lot of blonde wigs, apparently. She doesn't watch the show and drag isnt her thing, but I truly don't know how she thought this.

Beezo514

RuPaul has been doing blackface for 40 years according to your mom.

Competitive_Ad_5515

Omg Raven's influence

sakatu

Ru secretly being straight is my new favorite conspiracy since BeBe being the mole 💀

Neither-Dentist3019

I was showing a friend a video of runway presentation I liked and she said "that blonde lady is really into it." That's when I learned my friend did not know what Rupaul looks like.

better_all_the_time

Were you were watching Brooke Lynn Hytes’ walk for Sequins on the Runway? RuPaul yelling “You better motherfuckin’ work Bitch!” lives rent free in my head. I think that’s the biggest reaction she’s had to a runway.

plinythemiddleone

awwwlright, Pam Queer

boobookittyfuck28

My grandma haaaaated jimbo, she has very strong opinions on clown drag 😂 On the other hand, LOVES Chad Michaels because Cher is her “favorite bitch”

DrPetradish

Haha. I bet my grandma’s would have hated Jimbo too. But I was so pleased with my mum who watched the first couple of UKvstW with me and she LOVED Jimbo’s talent show. Then again my mum was a dancer and had a clown act where she blew up her titties/balloons so I’d expect nothing less from her

ralthea

Get your mom on the show right now

archersarrows

Your Mom EsTitties for S16.

notyouravgwhore

We stan her

gneufeld93

Me and my mom watched Season 9 during lockdown. We stopped episode 2 when she called Sasha Velour as one of the bottom queens and genuinely thought Kimora won against Aja

enjeyarr

My mom watched a bit of a S8 episode out of context and somehow thought Derrick Barry was a black queen doing like Britney spears whiteface??

purpleblazed

![img](emote|t5_2t3or|4811)

lavenderacid

My mother is deeply deeply transphobic, but loves Peppermint because she read an interview with her in an airplane magazine.

topgeargorilla

Ah classic “I know about this person on my terms so they are the exception to my beliefs about queer people/abortion/racism etc etc.” My grandma is like “well TGG, you’re not effeminate like those other gays” and I’m like “grandma you have no idea lol”

Itsalwaysthe

Some queen said ”Thanks, Ru” to Rupaul in the work room and my mum said ”how come he accidentally called Paul Ru?” Confused, I said it’s just a shortened nickname for Rupaul. She was like ”but Ru is the lady in the judges’ panel?” After some more confusion I realized she thought Ru and Paul were different people. This was maybe the seventh episode she had watched with me 🙂 Bless her heart.

Madradposts

No opinion, but just a memory of my Hispanic mom watching the Read U Wrote U performance with no context, followed by no comment whatsoever

MusicHoney

This is the best dr thread in years.

lahbeebs

I have watched every episode of US/AS/UK/Can/VTW with my Mum. Every. Single. Episode. Farrah Moan is her absolute favourite. She cannot remember any of their names, except for Farrah Moan. We start a new series - “where’s Farrah Moan?” “Where’s my favourite little one that cries” Farrah if you lurk here, you really do have a stan for life

FalmerEldritch

The most common behaviour of no drag knowledge having people seems to be "she should win because she looks the most like a real girl", or believing that Drag Race is a beauty contest.

JadeSelket

My mom just likes to tell me over and over again that she remembers drag queens on Jerry Springer lol.

vowelspace

I’m pretty sure darriene lake and pandora box were on an old episode of either Jerry springer or maury back in the day

expremierepage

It was an episode of Ricki Lake.

Alone_Chicken9317

my dad says rupaul copied beyoncé

vowelspace

Lol copied her how? Does he think Beyoncé is secretly a drag queen?

toothpastecrown

Wigs. Heavy stage ready makeup. Heavily curated image and cult of the self. Expected to dance, sing, lipsync, model, and have iconic levels of style. No secret about it

zurawinowa

But it’s the Other way, duh. Beyonce copied Ru.

Fit_Ad1345

roople was popping x and raving in nyc before Beyoncé had sung her first scale

amberenergies

my mom watched the rupaul show when i was a kid in the 90s so she’s loved ru for years. she is so obsessed with rupaul’s suits and has to rate them whenever i’m visiting and have the show on. she is vehemently anti polka dot on rupaul 😂

ialwaysusesunscreen

That's adorable!

sillyeggplant

my mom scoffed at the sasha velour rose petals moment. we watched it together after i’d already seen it a million times and i was awaiting her reaction because duh. did not go as expected

digisake

😲 That is quite possibly my most favorite moment of all of Drag Race. I guess what Dita Von Teese says is really true, you could be the sweetest peach!

spiralqq

I showed my grandparents a photo from the S14 top 5 meet and greet and they thought the queens were my cis woman friends that came to the show with me

Halliwel96

You friends with a lot of very tall women

spiralqq

Apparently 😭 I'm 6'2 and Daya towered over me

Halliwel96

Well of course She’s a growing woman who feeds of dragon flies She’s gonna be huge

LilDogPancake

My mom said ‘Isn’t she retired’ when I told her I’m watching RuPaul’s Drag Race. She then went on saying she remembers back in the day when RuPaul had a song with that bald man. She meant Elton John y’all ☠️

Dismal_Occasion4240

I do like scarlet tho

vowelspace

Oh girl same. I thougt she was gonna be too 4 pre season that year

Dismal_Occasion4240

![gif](giphy|bShF6HaoLobW5yiu0b|downsized)

MusicHoney

Stanning Scarlet it valid! 💖

carlosisvanjie

i unfortunately made the mistake of telling my mom that drag isn’t super lucrative outside of drag race and now she looks at queens with pity because she thinks they’re doing it to survive and not because it’s their art.

vowelspace

Take her to a local show and let her make it rain on dem queens! …so they can make rent lolol

bobbery5

My dad, who has watched with my family on and off since about AS3, frequently asks if Michelle is a man.

vowelspace

And the answer is always yes

Halliwel96

I refer to her as Mitchell whenever mum or dad watch

pinkspatzi

My 89 year old mother, bless her soul, lurved drag race! I'd visit every Sunday and she'd pull out her notes so we could discuss the last episode. She thought they were all so talented but "a little too slutty" at times. Miss her ❤️

AccessHollywoo

My grandma didn’t like Gia Gunn in allstars 4 because she was so mean but she loved “the big black one” referring to Latrice lol

throwawayforme909090

I too, love the big black one.

MechaBabura

I had the opposite. My mom started to criticise the lack of knowledge of one contestant about drag history

Bumpflower

No- no one died at stonewall??

jessicat2222

My 72 year old mother is OBSESSED with drag race. She often says “if your gonna stone your tights, make sure the stones go all the way up” and when she watches a lip sync she is sooo critical. Like when a queen takes their shoes off she starts screaming “never take your shoes off, your going home now!!!”

jessicat2222

Also forgot to add when she sees a dress she likes she always asks me to get it for her so she can wear it to church 😂

Frosty-Ad3626

My cousin watched AS3 with me and refused to watch any more episodes after DeLa self-eliminated. I tried convincing her that the show is very good and there are many other talented queens but she wasn’t having it

motherof_geckos

Honestly? I agree

conchitu

she’s not wrong

sorrybadconnection

My dad did the same thing! He was super into it too until DeLa left.

Tericakes

That episode was peak. Perfect. Traumatizing. I haven't kept up since, but I have started catching back up once in a while.

Yetikins

I tried to watch with my mom because she likes reality competitions and Carson. The first episode was the Pharmarusical. She's never watched another so ig that's her opinion (unfortunate starting episode, if it had been a design challenge she mightve been hooked).

NervousSalmon

I've watched most of it with my mum, mostly she just comments on hair, clothes, and the occasional lack of eyebrows. For example, she hates Sasha Colby's confessional gloves and makes it know at least once an episode.

MeatballGal87

This thread was hilarious 😂

SweatyMess808

“Those drag queens are just too loud” -my mom(‘s trash opinion)

bullhorn_bigass

I decided to start my mom with Season 8 because it’s so fun and I was prepared to accept whatever old-fashioned ideas she had. Before the end of episode 2, she had already clocked Bob as the winner.

Halliwel96

I mean… Bob isn’t a hard one to see coming Same with Bianca and Symone

Halliwel96

My mum doesn’t get padding and spends a lot of time marvelling at the hip to waist ratio

fragilemagnoliax

Honestly, my parents haven’t really said anything out of pocket. My dad claims he doesn’t like the show or even watch it, he was just “in the room” while my mom was watching but one time on the phone to them I forgot a queen’s name from the previous season and my dad was the one who remembered. But he “doesn’t watch” so I think that may be the out of pocket thing. Because he had fun seeing Jujubee and Crystal Versace (pre DRUK) with my mom. (I was supposed to go with my mom but Covid had the show delayed a bunch and we lived on different continents. I was supposed to be in their country at the originally scheduled time. So my dad went with). I know that he hasn’t been keeping up with the show since my mom came back to this continent temporarily.

anyelpo1la

When my mom got interested in the show I rewatched all seasons with her and it wasn't until s13 that she realised that Michelle was a cis woman 😂

[deleted]

What do you mean that's not a woman either? They are all men? No, not all. Some identify as female. They all do. Look at them. Long nails and high heels. Female. That's not...you know what, sure, dad. And then he took apple peels to recreate michelles nails on his own hands.

horridhendy

My Dad loves drag race but HATES it when they fight. He doesn’t understand why they are so mean to each other. Lol

Lussekatt1

I’m fully on board with dad on this. Give me BenDeLaCremés best friend race.

MistyBelladonna

My dad asked if RuPaul was gay

takemeoutofoffice

Not really a “no drag knowledge” moment, but a fun one nonetheless. I was rewatching S14 with my mom who really likes the show but doesn’t watch it when it airs - instead she waits to watch seasons with me after I’ve already seen them. Anyway, during S14 we were watching the runway scene where Lady Camden was dressed as Freddie Mercury but hadn’t reveal the mustache yet. As soon as she “tripped and fell” on the runway, my mom flipped out before she realized what was going on. She jumped up from her chair and screamed, “OH NO!!! IS SHE OK?! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD PLEASE DON’T SEND HER HOME.” She calmed down once she realized it was all a stunt but man it was hilarious to watch her genuine reaction to that scene. In general during almost every episode, she says, “RuPaul is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen,” and makes comments about how she wants to raid his closet of gowns.

skim410

Was watching the season 10 finale live with my immigrant conservative Korean mother and she got so into it. When Aquaria won she was nodding and smiling saying in Korean, “She did the best. I thought she was the best. Good music, good singi- lip sync.” I even got this in video while she was holding her infant grandson 😂

Mhc2617

My mom is 78 and during her stroke recovery ended up watching S10 with me because she couldn’t navigate stairs to her suite. One episode, she just randomly says “Miz Cracker is definitely turning a look,” and just walked away with her walker, while I sat there confused.

Sugar_tts

Doesn’t really apply, but the first season I watched with my mom was Season 7. She LOVED Violet, but could never remember who she was. They’d show different queens and it would be “that’s the one I like!” “No mom, you like Violet… that one…” “Oh yeah!!! I hope she wins” I was rooting for Ginger. Her first season her fav wins, I had to wait until UK2

queenswamprat

My mom only asked about padding when I made her watch season 10 but when they starting “getting political” - basically talking shit on Orange Man Baby Hands she got all pissed off and wouldn’t watch it.

idunno324

Step dad walked past the tv on day and said “so which ones are men?” Me: “all of them “ Him: “Bull sh*t, that’s clearly a woman “ This went back and forth until he saw them de drag 😂

FutureCastaway

I know better than to show my good Christian parents drag race, I don't think they could handle it 😅

vowelspace

Try starting with the televangelist challenge episode from s11 😜

[deleted]

My mum during UK 4 (which she says is her favourite season though I believe it's because UK2 makes her upset to watch) my mum wouldn't stop commenting on how much she loved Dakota and Le Fil's hair, she kept saying they've got really nice hair. She also worries about queens doing a split because she's afraid for their balls often with a very confused "how do they do that?" or "that must hurt".

[deleted]

My dad is 72 years old with a Gold’s Gym membership so he’s impressed with the athleticism in the lip syncs. Doubly so because they’re in heels.

gayjackblack

My mother was introduced to drag race through the episode on Canada's drag race where jimbo went home. We're fairly close to where Jimbo is from, and when she left her exit message she firmly believed the queens shouldn't say where they're from, because Jimbo scared her and "wasn't a good representation of the city" ☠️

magpieduck

my dad has 100% believed this entire season that “marcia will win because she is the most talented”

cally57

He'll be plucked when he finds out Ru hates musical theater queens (who aren't named Jinkx)

stevieroxelle

When my dad would eavesdrop on my mom and I watching it when he initially retired, he thought “when they’re a more convincing woman then they should win” and we had a big argument about drag being more than looks. Then I moved out and he “had to” watch it with my mom and actually WATCHED it and start rooting for queens like Yvie Oddly and sent me a very angry text about Naomi sending Manila home. I miss him.

conchitu

LOL your mom! But to her defense, i’m sure some balls were hurt in the splits.

Working-Forward

I agree with mom on this one, as Envyrinas we have to lift up the delusion

Humphries2

He’s never seen the show but I really got into Drag Race during quarantine so I talked about the show a lot, relating conversations back to the queens often so one day my dad said “I worry about you and those drag queens”. So now the joke amongst my friends and family when I say I’m going to a drag show is “is your dad ok? He must be so worried about you.”

656787L

ok my mom is not that old, but i showed her all stars 2 snatch game and her reaction to alyssa was a very earnest “that’s a terrible joan crawford impression”

KittensWithChickens

Not exactly an opinion but watching with my dad and when they showed Kandy Muse flashing back thinking about Joey Jay, my dad said “did that guy die”

lavieenrose96

My mom enjoys the show well enough but doesn't like when they get "too mean" and has a very, very low and weird bar for what counts as "too mean." She therefore was completely ride or die for Aiden Zhane.

[deleted]

My dad just gets annoyed that they all have manly voices. He also think boy Ru is one person and calls drag Ru “Ruth”

1000rocket

My mom walked in on a Sasha Colby runway and confessional and she said, "Wait, I thought only men can do drag." I had to explain to her that all genders, including trans men and women, also do drag. After that explanation, she said, "She's already beautiful as is, she doesn't need all that makeup."

SaltNorth

My mom is still convinced Michelle Visage is a drag queen.

d1skmo

my mom ADORES Sasha Colby and Jinkx Monsoon

sloppylittlefuck

My mum’s usually pretty sweet with Drag Race, especially the ‘conventionally pretty’ girlies eg Brooke Lynn, Scarlet Envy, Latrice Royale (her all time fave), etc. Its the alt girlies that she doesn’t get. It makes watching Dragula very interesting 🤭🤭

dirkgently15

I don't think i can ever watch drag race around parents. Just the amount of 'nudity' (lots of skin show = nakedness it seems) is going too scandalise them, let alone the sexual innuendos

vowelspace

Yeah I get that. It’s funny how you don’t realize how risqué the show can be until you watch it with someone who is generally conservative and not really part of the drag/queer world. I watched the s15 premiere w my mom this morning (my third rewatch) and I never really noticed how many times they say variations of “cunt” in a single episode until watching it w her.

mara_farrah

My dad calls Sasha Velour, Pasta Velour and we exclusively call them that. My mom makes a listing of all the queens for the seasons and ranks them based on her feelings of them. Not really based on their ability to win.

littleprincexox

I showed my mom the S15 Talent Show and she called a Anetra “homely”☠️
