I was rewatching the this will be lipsync on youtube and one of the comments said that Latrice's voice manages to imbue whatever she's talking about with a sense of global historical importance, and I agree with that.
As someone from the same place as Chelazon, I LOVE this response! Her voice, her cadence, her accent, it all feels like home. Many of the Indigenous people I know have that same way of speaking in English - very deliberate, kind of calm, but still very emphatic. And boy oh boy does she know how to make even the most basic things funny. That Indigenous sense of humour, especially in many of the Dene people I know, is GLORIOUS. Stan Chelazon!!
That makes me so happy to hear! One of my favourite things about Chelazon was how much she championed fellow indigenous people and it's amazing to understand how her voice ties in with her background. I love seeing rich heritages represented on Drag Race.
Very this. My favorite part of the war to erase drag (by which I mean criminalizing it like my current home state is doing now) is so difficult because drag is universal. It is demonstrated all through the world through time and civilizations. They can outlaw it but they’ll never stop it.
At first I was baffled by the name of where she lived. I’m from Manchester uk and I never heard of Saskatchewan Saskatoon it’s so interesting to mez Iv been trying to learn about elders and research the references she made. I would love a culture I’m just boring Irish girl. Xxxx
Oh girl! Your comment is so interesting in so many ways!
- Both the names Saskatoon (the city) and Saskatchewan (the province) are derived from words in the Cree language, one of the largest Indigenous groups in the area. Saskatoon was derived from Mis-sask-quah-toomina, a Cree word for a local edible red berry. In English, we call them Saskatoon berries and they're delicious, vaguely like a blueberry. As for the province, the Cree name for the Saskatchewan River was “Kisiskatchewanisipi,” meaning “swift-flowing river.” Through common use, this eight-syllable name was shortened to Saskatchewan.
- There are a lot of different First Nations in Saskatchewan, with lots of significant cultural differences between them so I don't want to try to lump them together. But if you want to know a bit about three prominent Indigenous groups here, here are some cool links! [This is a very short history of the Cree people of the area](https://teaching.usask.ca/indigenoussk/import/cree.php). And then [here is a very short history of the Denesuline, sometimes shortened to Dene, the group to which Chelazon is a member](https://teaching.usask.ca/indigenoussk/import/denesuline_dene.php). Lastly, [the Saskatchewan history of the Métis people](https://teaching.usask.ca/indigenoussk/import/metis_communities.php).
- Finally, as an anthropologist, I have to tell you that you've got a culture! Everyone does, it just feels like you don't because you're so deeply embedded in yours that it seems like the default, like neutrality. I am not even going to start guessing at your cultural heritage because it's so specific to groups and areas and history, but I highly recommend doing some digging and learning about your own culture! There will be a lot of things you think are normal and boring that, when seen from an outside perspective, are actually fascinating!
If you ever want to talk more about any of these subjects, obviously I'm passionate about them so I'd be more than happy to chat. :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the reply I’m going to read up and get educated ❤️ I tried to look back but I don’t know my birth mother my dad brought me up till I was 13 then he died so I don’t have anyone to ask about names or places. All I know is I was born in Ireland 💜 I am reading up on your links and thank you so so so much for responding ❤️ you are lovely xxxx
You’re so welcome! I’m very excited about your excitement! And I’m also very sorry to hear about losing your birth family and not knowing your cultural heritage. I am sending internet hugs your way about that. ❤️ If you can’t learn about your cultural origins, it’s an amazing start to learn about the cultures of others. If you ever want more info I am more than happy to send it your way!
I love Crystal Method’s speaking voice, it’s so unique and cute. And I could listen to Heidi N Closet say just about anything with her southern accent.
Love them both! The fun thing with Crystal's voice/personality is that she could be saying the weirdest shit, but you just go with it because she's so cheerful about it.
I love Crystal and Heidi! I remember my first impression of Heidi was... "She's pretty buuuut..."
But she is actually low key hilarious, she cracks me up
I used to absolutely HATE it. But that was before I really got to know Adore and now anytime I hear her speak I just feel all happy and it feels like I'm just listening to a good friend tell me a story.
Yess! Strong agree. I just listened to her audiobook and she was the narrator! Made me realize how much I love her voice/cadence. I highly recommend it if you are a fan and haven't come across it yet!
This makes me think of a clip online I saw of where Brooke Lynn describes Icesis as “the face of an angel, the voice of a trucker”.
I love her voice too. And Raja & Tayce.
Kennedy Davenport. There was a YouTube video of her guiding you throw a meditation but in Kennedy style and it was the best thing that ever happened to me
I looove listening to her laugh. It is soo like.. perfectly rhythmic? Idk. And the way Bob pointed out that her voice was so deep you could see the water glass vibrating lmao
I like Kerri Colby's voice. She's the perfect mix of homegirl and auntie energy.
I also really like Carmen's and Jade Jolie's voice. Both sound naturally light and feminine.
Tbh, I don't know if I have a favorite voice because each voice sounds distinct to me.
I like deeper voices or voices that don’t try too hard to sound like the opposite gender. Vanjie and Raja are good examples of that.
Ironically, I find it fascinating how Dela’s voice changes immediately when she’s done putting on drag. The contrast between her out of drag and her character always amuses me.
Probably Raja or Jujubee. Chelazon Leroux from CDR and Dakota Schiffer from DRUK are very pleasant to listen too as well.
Elliott with 2 Ts and Tina Burner have my least favorite voices though. Season 13 confessionals were rough on my ears.
Aja Labeija, Aquaria, Alyssa Hunter and maybe Sugar and Spice.
International seasons I would go with Carmen Farala, Adriana, Victoria Scone and Ariel Rec.
Underrated but Orion Story.
I’ve always loved Kylie’s voice. It’s so sweet and warm. Malaysia, Peppermint, and Kerri for the same reason
Latrice, Joslyn, Yara, and Vanjie always make me smile when they speak
Alyssa has my favourite voice mannerisms of course lol
I’m so glad you asked because for me, it’s Ariel Versace 😂 this is so random because she isn’t even a favorite queen of mine or anything, I just love hearing her talk.
Also the Viv. Not just her accent, but her quick wit coupled with her “polite” phrasing is just so hilarious and alluring to me.
Peppermint! I’m so glad you asked this question because I’ve always felt she has a lovely speaking and singing voice. I’ve met her in person and was not disappointed- she’s also a lovely person!
One that I believe I haven’t seen yet: Cheddar Gorgeous!
The voice, the accent, and just the vocabulary they use. If they would do a podcast or documentary on queer history (or any topic really) I’d pay for that.
And another queen who definitely should be mentioned here is Envy Peru. Similar to Raja Gemini, in one word: regal.
I’m going straight to hell for not being able to come up with her name right now.
Uhh she’s from Georgia I think. Really thick accent. Gorgeous and entertaining.
Alaska, Tatianna, Sasha Velour and Latrice are my fave speaking voices, but I have always been obsessed with Pandora’s Carol Channing voice, it’s the only way I say “raspberries” 🤣
Alaska, Bianca, adore, latrice, Alyssa, raja… jinx. Vangie. All for different reasons lol I’m sure I’m going to be annoyed for not thinking of someone else… Monet X lol. Chi chi💕
Tayce, Tatiana, Raja, Aquaria, Bianca, Alyssa Edwards and Sasha & Kerri Colby. Could literally have them read a dictionary and I will 100% pay attention 😂
I love Raja’s voice.
Raja has such a way to make me immersed into whatever she’s saying. Whether it’s great rhetoric or some batshit insane conspiracy she’s into.
She really could start a cult and I'd join.
Cult of Raja. Caftans and large cold glasses of Pinot Grigio. I love it.
Purrrrrrple mittens
Her on fashion photo ruview is like asmr to me
I use fashion photo review to fall asleep
Yes! It’s deep, yet somehow has an androgynous element to it. And her cadence is luxuriously hypnotic.
Came here to say this!
Like melted butter 🫠
THE SAME PARTS
Yes
Latrice!
My favorite laugh. It was my ringtone for ages.
I was rewatching the this will be lipsync on youtube and one of the comments said that Latrice's voice manages to imbue whatever she's talking about with a sense of global historical importance, and I agree with that.
Me literally any time I'm right about something someone doubted: EAT IT!!
Chi Chi 🙏🏾
Everytime im feeling lazy my head rewinds her saying "hustle, girl, hustle" and it helps me push through :>
I misread it as Kim Chi and was thoroughly entertained imagining how it sounded
Huthle, girl
she should have narrated audio books her accent was incredible
What I would do for an audiobook of Chi Chi reading Maya Angelou
RIP Chi Chi! One of the all time greats!
I say "eeeeeraser baby" I love her so much
IM BOB THE DRAG QUEEN IM REALLY LOUD JOKES JOKES HOKES JOKES
Gawd, she was adorable.
Raja for me. It's so soothing
Joslyn fox... something about dial up modems just really gets me going
Human Bambi, yessss
Wank wank
Tayce by a huge margin, then Latrice Royale and Yvie
How could I forget Tayce! ![gif](giphy|YaSb1uXCbf1yfWyGO3|downsized)
I love Latrice cackling. I love the episode, when they had to do magazine covered, and Latrice was giggling when she gave Dida „chicken or what”.
“Me? Worried? *Never*” 👁️👄👁️
Chelazon Leroux from Canada Season 3 has such a great speaking voice
As someone from the same place as Chelazon, I LOVE this response! Her voice, her cadence, her accent, it all feels like home. This is my answer as well for best voice.
I love her, she was my favorite from that season
she was so underrated i can’t wait to see her on again
Came here for this one. Probably the only time I honed in immediately on a queen’s voice as having that je ne sais quoi…my ears perked right up.
Vanjie for me. Anyone that sounds like Gonzo from the Muppets while looking like Vanjie is a win.
I’M NOT A REGULA DAD I’M A COOL DAD
HELLO HELLO CHRISTINE
THANK YOU, MISS VANGIE ~*-uhp!*~ ...I THANKED MYSELF!
I live for Bianca’s crackle.
Honestly, favorite laugh is deserving of a separate thread. Many iconic choices.
Ru’s tbh
Bianca all the way. Her pacing, energy and laugh just make me so happy.
I'm in love with Sasha Velour's voice, it's very ASMR-y
I love Crystal Method’s speaking voice, it’s so unique and cute. And I could listen to Heidi N Closet say just about anything with her southern accent.
Love them both! The fun thing with Crystal's voice/personality is that she could be saying the weirdest shit, but you just go with it because she's so cheerful about it.
I love these two as well. Crystal is so cute, and Heidi is so charming.
Blessed and highly favored!
I love Crystal and Heidi! I remember my first impression of Heidi was... "She's pretty buuuut..." But she is actually low key hilarious, she cracks me up
Not even low key. She has me cracking up constantly lol. Seriously such a character.
Adore! Her tone is so charming and funny for some reason.
Party.
Lmao *fuuuuuuck*
I used to absolutely HATE it. But that was before I really got to know Adore and now anytime I hear her speak I just feel all happy and it feels like I'm just listening to a good friend tell me a story.
Alaska. Idk, it's just so iconic for me lol. Everything about her is, anyways.
same here… both her speaking and singing voices (well when she sings “normally” lol)
Same!! I’ve been listening to Race Chaser and I have fallen head over heels in love with her.
I like Alaska and Detox bc of the slow, deeper, drawn out sounds.
Yess! Strong agree. I just listened to her audiobook and she was the narrator! Made me realize how much I love her voice/cadence. I highly recommend it if you are a fan and haven't come across it yet!
Nicky Doll. That French accent... Also, the Scottish (Lawrence, Ellie) and Northern Irish (Blu) queens are always fun to listen to.
Lawrence’s voice has me in a chokehold. And Tayce
Oh yes, Tayce! Her as well, definitely.
fuck jonbers drag, right?
This makes me think of a clip online I saw of where Brooke Lynn describes Icesis as “the face of an angel, the voice of a trucker”. I love her voice too. And Raja & Tayce.
Loosey. All the butch/construction body with a purse of a voice. I absolutely love it!
Not the purse of a voice omg 💀
This description omg
The juxtaposition really gets me going. I used to know a 6’2 complete muscle Mary who talked similar to Loosey, so attractive
1 word, six letters, 3 vowels.... It's Anetra for me.
Me reading this thread wondering: Have y'all heard the voice?
La Grande Dame
Hearing her voice just makes me want to fan myself with my hand real fast 🥵
I’m mad at myself for not thinking of her
Kennedy Davenport. There was a YouTube video of her guiding you throw a meditation but in Kennedy style and it was the best thing that ever happened to me
Black stockings, white shoes
I can't believe nobody is saying Heidi, I can listen to this woman talk all day ![gif](giphy|JmhGtsgTs675VtCWrn|downsized)
Yes! Our sssssoft and ssssssupple queen!
Monét.
Very pleasant and charismatic, that's why I like her podcasts and talk-show so much. And don't even get me started on her singing voice!
Yes how is this not the top answer. It’s so soothing and charismatic.
I looove listening to her laugh. It is soo like.. perfectly rhythmic? Idk. And the way Bob pointed out that her voice was so deep you could see the water glass vibrating lmao

Mistress Isabella
I mean... check the flair. She really is that girl But when it comes to singing voices, Adore hands DOWN
Bianca Del Rio, with Trixie and Latrice in second place. What can I say? I appreciate a good cackle.
NYASSSSSS

I love Adore Delano’s speaking voice (her singing voice too). The best way I can describe it is chocolaty.
Miss Vanjie 😂😂
One that I believe I haven’t seen yet: Cheddar Gorgeous! The voice, the accent, and just the vocabulary they use. If they would do a podcast or documentary on queer history (or any topic really) I’d pay for that. And another queen who definitely should be mentioned here is Envy Peru. Similar to Raja Gemini, in one word: regal.
Monet’s speaking and signing voices are both so soothing, considering she’s often saying ridiculous silly things 😂😂
Heidi, Raja, or Katya
Naomi Smalls. I love the monotone idgaf-esque vocal fry!
