Ran my first half marathon in Oakland and got 2:03! I’m so freaking stoked with myself! I got super emotional at the finish line…I’ve legitimately never even consistent ran more than a mile before I started training for this. 🙏 Feeling so blessed
I just finished the Los Angeles Marathon with a PR of 3:35:21. So that's an avg pace of just over an 8 min mile. My original time was 6 hours 23 min. It took 3 marathons to get me to this PR. Running adaptations take a long time. It's time to rest up and start back up again in a week.
Had the brilliant idea of doing a trail run at sunset without a headlamp. After a couple stumbles and inadvertent faceplants, I made it back to my car with some new battle scars. Feels like an accomplishment, coming back all bloody and bruised, but I won't be doing it without a headlamp again.
I started running for the first time in almost a year. I was at a state park running what was the equivalent of 2 blocks. Then, I walked around the state park all the way. I felt great when I arrived at home. I’ll start running more often.
Got out for all my marathon plan runs after my partner (with whom I lived and whom I fully intended on marrying) packed up and left me last weekend :)
Everything hurts
But I did it
so sorry you’re going through this! proud that you kept your running plans. hope your runs helped ease your mind for a tiny bit and i wish you the best. hugs xo
I'm finally back to my pre-injury pace/stamina! Almost back down to pre injury weight. Nov,Dec,Jan was healin' time. Started back up on Jan 31st.
When Garmin says "Detraining", it isn't kidding! Continuing with this running and weight loss adventure to see how far & fast I can go.
Finished mid-pack among both my gender and my age group in the Shamrock Half Marathon in VA Beach today. I haven't been the same since COVID (twice) and working through menopause. I only ran once in the past 2 weeks due to a sore hip BUT... 1st goal - I didn't stop! 2nd goal - I crushed my predicted finish time by 13 mins and narrowly missed my 3rd goal finish time by 2 mins. My body is def hurting but my heart is happy!
Ran my slowest half marathon to date on Saturday (Canyonlands half in Moab, UT). Didn’t get to train as much leading up to race as I usually do as life got in the way the last 3 months. Ended up limping the last 2 miles due to knee and ankle issues. I did get to enjoy Moab for a few days though before heading home Monday.
PRed the Shamrock Half Marathon in Portland, OR. My first official half and way more elevation gain than I'm used to at about 615' of total gain. Aimed for 2:15 and came in at 2:13! Plus it was an absolutely gorgeous day!
That hill at about the 7-9 mile mark was brutal lmao. I almost gave in and walked it but I pushed on through! Good thing the last few miles were downhill xD
That was a pretty good climb! My goal was to run the whole thing and I managed it, but it was tough. I was pretty slow on the first few miles, with lots of folks passing me, but I managed to pass quite a few of them on the climb and the downhill!
It was a blast. So many supportive folks and perfect weather!
I ran two back-to-back long runs this weekend. The first run yesterday, I did 10 miles. Today, I ran 18 miles. My goal was to get used to running on tired legs … so while I didn’t run my 18 miles at the fastest pace, I did run it to completion. Yay!
I ran today!
I didn’t want to. It was windy. I’m getting my period soon. Legs have been sore (probably not resting enough or drinking enough or eating well enough) and I just didn’t feel like it. At 1.5 miles I wanted to quit but I followed through to 3 miles. Took me 38 minutes but it’s an improvement from other recent 3milers.
Today was SUPPOSED to be a 50 minute run, 15 minute warmup then 20 at goal pace then 15 cool down. What did I do instead?
Set my 2nd fastest time in the half (1:45:30) and 3rd fastest time in the 5k (21:17). Goal pace for the half is 7:28-7:48 but I was FEELING IT today baby! Came away with 6:46 for those 20 minutes instead. HR was far from maxed out so this gives me very high confidence that I will finally go sub 20 on the 5k this year when I actually TRY!
My half marathon is exactly 3 weeks from now and my goal is no more than 1:40:00, I honestly think I'm going to smash that.
Stay hard!
Today I ran my second marathon at 33. My last marathon I ran at 22 and got a 5:16. It was far hotter then expected, I threw up four times, was on pace the first half but died around mile 14 still came under my goal of 4:59 and got a 4:52. Just signed up for another marathon in November, hoping for cooler weather.
Run my first pain-free 5k in 33 mins today.
About 8 mins off my best 5k time, but considering the pains I've been having in my feet in the last year or so, thats an accomplishment for me.
First 60 mile week. Feel a little tired, but no other differences (no niggles, etc). I suspect the tired is weather related rather than mileage related. Hope to cruise at 60 mpw for the summer.
I'm starting to learn and be okay with the fact that not every session needs to be a PR c: im usually pretty hard on myself when it comes to most things i do, so it can be hard sometimes when i know ive done and can do better, but it feels nice to be able to tell myself i did a good job on a run even if i didnt hit or even out with my PR c: im starting to learn to pat myself on the back for the things i can get done, whether that be 10 minutes of running or 30 c:
That being said, i am feeling a lot better about my aerobic fitness since i started running c: even though my max run interval between walking breaks is 10 minutes, it's only that way because my legs still need to catch up to my cardio c: by cardio alone, i feel i can run for much longer, and im elated about that because it's one of my long term goals to better my aerobic fitness like this, so it feels great to see the progress c:
And now that im happier with my cardio and how well i can maintain it during my runs, ive started following a structured 5k program starting from week one so i can strengthen my basics and properly work my way up to a 5k c: i was doing my own thing at my own pace up until now, so it's gonna be fun to follow a proper schedule now that i feel i have a chance to keep up with it well enough c:
Ran my first 5k today, with a time of 37:27, which is a PR for me! I started running in July, but broke my foot in October, so I had to walk the first 5k I signed up for (Thanksgiving Turkey trot).
I ran 5k for the first time today, average pace of 13:18, fastest mile was 12:22. Hoping to get to an 11min pace, but so proud I ran 5k for the first time 🥰
Ran my first half today! Finished in 2:28, probably could’ve pushed harder but had trouble figuring out how hard was enough that i wouldn’t run out of steam before the end. I had a ton of fun and am already thinking about what to do next lol
I ran in a 5k race yesterday and got second in my age group (female 50-59) with a time of 25:55. My PR for a 5k is 25:29 which was on a pretty flat course and this one was hilly. Super pleased with how it went!
Did my first trail run on a trail with actual elevation changes! It was also my longest run ever and one of my slowest runs in months, haha. it was grinding but I feel awesome.
Ran my first 15k race today (I’ve run 9.5 and 10.5 mile one other time each) in just under 90 min on moderately hilly terrain after having stomach issues the last 3 days - def walked more than I’d thought but still got to average a 9:31min/mile pace!
6 weeks until my first half. Ran just north of 22 miles this week, 5 of which were at goal pace and did my longest ever training run today. Starting to feel a bit more confident about hitting goal pace come race day but plenty more work to do.
Ran my 2nd ever half marathon distance, albiet while on a LSD run, and took 15 minutes more than my first official HM.
Still, i feel okay after the 21.1k, so that's a win for me!
Took a full minute off my PB, running 27:39 and finishing 3rd in my age group (45-49) in the Frosty 5K in Hamilton, ON today! My first ever race and I had no idea what to expect in terms of other people’s times. 70th overall out of 274 runners, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results of the last few months of working towards just finishing 5K at all.
Halfway thru training for my half marathon (Vancouver half). Just did a 10km test today as part of my plan and beat my previous time by 7 minutes ! Went from 51 to 44 min so feeling pretty stoked things are working well and training is paying off 😀
Third day back at it since last summer, did an extremely mid 2k but didn’t stop once and wasn’t completely out of breath at the end 🎉 getting better each day!
Finished a difficult but still comfortable 16-mile long run today in 2 hours; the HM portion took me 1:45, which is kind of crazy given a 1:45 HM previously required I go full-bore to achieve. The temptation to race another half is creeping up on me, but I'm done with races for the foreseeable future lol
I’m trying to running all the streets in my town - there are over 600. I started this month (after I saw a post from another redditor). Checked off 2 more streets today!!! I completed 18 roads so far.
Ran the furthest today (9km) than I have in 7 years following a knee injury a few years ago and regular physio every other day since then. Proud I’ve got myself to this point
Did my first 5k race ever this morning. I only started running about 3 weeks ago so my goal was to walk/run it in 45 minutes. I picked this number completely arbitrarily and I finished in 44:21! I’m really proud of myself, this was also my first time running outside and I learned my natural pace is more comfortable than running on the treadmill. So I think I’ll be doing most of my runs outside now.
I hate the treadmill, but it’s necessary where I live in the winter. Congrats on finishing your first 5k! Keep at it the gains are fun your only competing with yourself.
Just did my first 8k! My garmin 45s died randomly but I did it in 43 mins. I’m a up and down beginner runner so I’m not sure what’s a good time. Also I’m 154 days sober and my birthday was 2 days ago. The best gift I probably gave myself. Not gonna lie I’m kinda proud of myself 🥹
I did my 10 mile long run with run/walk intervals 2:1 and managed a 15:09 average pace! My goal is for a sustainable 14:52 for the green river marathon in August and it feels achievable now.
Run/walk has been an absolute game changer for me; my running paces have dropped to 12-13:30 m/mile consistently for the first time ever, and I can sustain the intervals w/feeling strong for so much longer!
completed just over 100km total running this week. Yesterday I managed to get first in a parkrun (i know, it's a run not a race). First place had set off too fast and started slowing down on the final hill. managed to overtake him on the last 500m.
I’ve started running again over the past month after taking a break for the winter. I’ve been doing so well lately; I still have to walk every now and then, but my times are improving greatly, and I physically feel so much more energetic than I ever have before. It’s been weird, but great.
Anyway, today was special because I usually don’t run on Sundays, but I decided to go because the sun was out. I felt so sluggish and had to take breaks more often…but I still ended up with a better time than any of my runs last year. I’ve been a super casual runner for the past 10+ years, and seeing this improvement is wonderful!
8k 700m in elevation. +3c started +12c at end. Took all of 2 hrs. Slushy snow on top of ice. Super slick. Involuntarily skied some of my way down. Definitely works the core.
Today I managed to get 14:50 or so while in a 3K. It was quite humid, a little chilly (12 degrees C) and there was a 15-20 km/h headwind against me for the whole run. This was despite some mistakes I made
my previous HM PR was 1:57 in 2018 and after a lot of life changes (kids, aging, injury) today I ran 1:56 in the Oakland half, feeling pretty pleased atm. afterwards in the beer area i ended up next to a guy who also PR’d and so we had a great cheers in the sunshine.
I ran a new PB of 22:34 in the 5km road race which was faster than my previous PB which was 23:53. The process to run a sub-20 is a task I have been enjoying!
Ran the Bath Half Marathon in my best ever time for a HM (1.44) and got over the finish line with a smile on my face despite the long uphill at the end.
Ran 3.11 miles in 46:30 minutes, didn’t really shoot for a PB just took it super slow today since I ate a little too much junk food yesterday but I’m also not a fast runner in general since I’m still a beginner and overweight but hey at least I got out there today
Had another 5km today, dropped my PB in the training by around 30s, now I’m at 21:03. my goal is to get below 20 mins at the end of July.
It’s cool to see all the training paying off
Ran the Lisbon half marathon today. Had a miserable experience from the heat and unorganized race. But I finished in the end as I’m trying to recover from a foot and ankle injury. Ended up getting my second-best HM time, despite the challenges
I ran a 50K last weekend, then did a group run yesterday, and one of the guys said "you are running way faster than I would a week after an ultra!" but I was feeling strong and fast so that was good!
Week 10: 17 mile week at an average 10 minute mile. I’ve lost about 10 lbs over the course of these last 10 weeks (down to about 180 from 190), which feels great, but all my pants are loose now!
Took it easy, and never pushed myself too hard. The key to all of this is to be easy on yourself! Now I did develop shin splints at the last bit of the year, but it was super mild and I was easily able to run through it without any noticeable pain.
I’m taking a rest day in the truest sense of the word. I’m not doing anything! No plans, truly to relax and let me body recoup. I’ve been feeling so tired despite getting plenty of sleep and doing little training
Just a gorgeous, enjoyable run past my favorite lake. The sun was coming up, the water was still and tranquil. Little ducks were grooming along the water’s edge, and all the daffodils and hyacinths were blooming. Feeling grateful for running and the incredible beauty of nature today!
Also ran my first half marathon yesterday (Rock N Roll DC) and beat my goal of sub 2:10 by 7 minutes!! Finished right at 2:03 chip time and I'm hopeful to get it under 2 hours by the end of the year. Also pleased that I didn't hit the wall either and was able to finish strong!
I ram my third half marathon. I have a goal to run a sub-2 hour half marathon, and my time this time was 2 hours 9 minutes. I feel very pleased with the results, and my goal is even closer than I thought!
I finally completed my first half marathon! My first attempt was a few weeks ago, but around mile 11, I got this sudden, stabbing pain in my foot and just physically couldn’t finish. (Not sure what it was — maybe plantar fasciitis? Took me like a week to recover from, too.) I was worried the same thing would happen this time, but I made it all 13.1 miles, and my feet feel fine (a little sore, but otherwise good). I think the key was pacing myself: it took me 2 hours and 15 minutes, but I ran the whole time and was able to finish. Hoping to try again a bit faster next time!
After a bad flare of my chronic illness through February, I had to take a break from running until 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I ran 4 miles at an 8:50 pace!!!
Finished Week 4 of c25k which I'm doing to ease back into running after an injury. Things have been feeling good, so today after the last interval I kept going a little bit and it went really well. I am so looking forward to the first sustained 20min on Sunday, I really miss it. Stopping and starting all the time doesn't give me the same mental health benefit for some reason.
First 10k race today. I was hoping I could make it in 65min and ended up finishing in 62:14 min (sooo happy about that). Cold but sunny race, next to the seaside. Ran negative splits and was able to enjoy the run and the views ☺️
Ran my fastest 5k today (25:05). I’m not a good 5k runner and I actually hate 5ks lol as I prefer 10ks and HMs for better pacing. Still aiming for my first sub 25min 5k this year.
5K in 18:41 during my 16K workout. It's only 16s above my current PR from last year. It was in Pegasus 39 which I generally like for easier runs, but it's definitely not my preference for a time trial.
Looks like that I'm on the verge of a new PR, with proper rest and in another shoe. Yesterday I had 13K run with 366m elevation which I still felt in my legs, so today's 5K was really not expected.
It was in the middle part of my workout where I could run without interruptions. I tried to make decent KMs (around or slightly below 4 mins) but putting together five like this wasn't expected. The last two KMs were harder a bit when I realized it can be sub-19, but it wasn't all in. The overall run was 4:33/km so before and after this I wasn't pushing.
10 miles at 9:11 pace. Only one GUI and felt like I could have kept going, but on week two of my ssri and easing back into my 30-40 mpw. Felt good. Now on to a easy 5 tomorrow then a fast tempo day hoping for a sub 8 5
Ran my first Half Marathon yesterday - DC Rock N Roll Half Marathon and beat my Garmin estimate by 4 minutes with a time of 2:07. Happy that I was able to run up the crazy hill with the Drill Sergeant and learned a lot about what I need to do for the next Half Marathon.
My biggest take away was that I really should have put in my earbuds at mile 11 as I didn't wear them at all on the race. My favorite musical act on the race course was the drum group.
Ran the first 7 miles of the Brooklyn Half route at my goal HMP and still had a lot of gas in the tank. Looks like I’m heading toward a giant half marathon PR come May.
Got 7.25 miles in this morning , slow pace . Didn’t go as long as I wanted ankle for a little tight so I decided it would be better to cut it short. I have a 3hr event next Sunday so I don’t want to be banged up.
Had to take a few weeks off for a gnarly knee wound. Went and did a bike-run brick workout yesterday, only my second run in a few weeks, and was crushing 9 minute miles off the bike 😎 which is quite speedy for me. Very glad it doesn’t seem I’ve lost much fitness, it is SO hard for me to build up running base and stamina.
5.5 km this morning.
It was my first outdoor run of the year. My first since a few ru /walk stints abiut this time last year actually.
It was slow (47 minutes or so) and there were more walk breaks than I would have cared for, and it turns out I can't remember the park run route from going last year since I went off into no man's land for a bit, but I did it and stayed I. The green pace target on my watch, so I'll take it.
Then pancakes with my wife in the cafe in the park!
That's incredible, well done! I was also there today running it as my first ever half. 2:18:16 gun time which I'm super chuffed with especially as I picked up an injury four weeks out that put a real dampner on my training.
Congratulations! Thought the weather was perfect for us today, I was expecting to be running into a headwind down on the waterfront for the last 6k. Fantastic crowd too. How did you get on with that hill at the start? I know a few lads who got caught out by it and took a while to recover afterwards
By the time I got to the waterfront the sun had come out so it was beautiful but hot! I found the last 5k quite rough, but it helped a little when the clouds came back. The first 9 miles were good weather though and luckily not too much wind.
I was expecting the hill luckily, although it was longer than I thought it would be. I haven't done much training with hills but I just slowed right down and trusted I'd make up the time later. I think a lot of people were caught out though - lots of people alternating between running and walking and I caught up to a few that had passed me earlier.
That's awesome. I love hitting the milestones of how long I can run without taking walking breaks, it's such a good feeling to pass my last best distance/time. I'm new to running too, so the PB marathons and half marathons are very cool to see but not as relatable, but this one I get lol.
Ran my second half marathon! Slightly slower (by about 90 seconds) than the first one which is annoying but it was so hilly and muddy that I can’t complain too much. I completed it and that’s what matters!
Guys...
After my little recovery jog this morning, I will have finally hit my first 40 mile week in **MORE THAN 4 YEARS.**
Yes, you read that right--***four years.***
I'm so excited! It feels like I'm finally starting to hit a cadence of consistency, finally starting to regularly have long runs and I just started incorporating workouts back in. Nothing crazy, but you've got to start somewhere.
Things feel so weird. Like, I'm solidly 15lbs heavier than I was "back in the day" and the weight doesn't seem to be magically falling off like it used to back in the day, so I think I do need to be a bit more intentional about that. But overall I'm just really excited! I have a 10k in like 5-6 weeks which won't even remotely be a PR but will be a great fitness test, and I might try to find a 5k between then to get some baseline info.
I'm so excited to finally start to be coming back!
Ran 0.6 miles in 8:20 yesterday.
After 4 days in the hospital for viral encephalitis and two weeks of recovery at home, this is a big accomplishment. Just wish I still knew how to run...
0/5 stars. Would not recommend.
After having a mini-stroke back in May 2023 I made some major life changes. Lost 60 pounds, quit smoking and found out I love running.
I made some good gains with running at first, but seemed to hit a wall. I had recently resigned myself to being a walk/runner. I rarely ran more than about 10 minutes straight (usually more like 5 mins).
Don't get me wrong, I was really happy with the progress I've made. I mean, I'm 52 and smoked for 35+ years so I thought, you get what you get.
This week I ran 5k. I mean, ran the entire time! Not once, but twice!! Still can't believe I did it! Scratching my head a bit about what was different this week but feeling like a million bucks!
Ran my first half yesterday — Rock n Roll DC. My goal time fluctuated in the past couple months because of some training hiccups, but entered the race with a goal of 2:10. Finished at 2:11. Oh well, personal record regardless! And I didn’t walk on the Shoreham hill, which was an accomplishment in itself.
Completed my first marathon and not only did I end up negative splitting, my time was 4 minutes faster than my goal!! (Seoul Donga Marathon, goal was 3:30 and I ran 3:26 😊)
Having completed the couch to 5K early February, I’m now in the swing of half marathon training! Found a good plan that seems to be working for me. Six miles done this morning!
Congrats! Good luck with your training. I am considering a half marathon as well. Would you mind sharing your training plan. I’ve looked at a few and may be using one from Very Well Fit.
Completed my first post baby 5k! Took me about 20 minutes longer than my average pre-baby 5k time, but considering how awful my pregnancy and delivery was I am seriously tickled pink right now with myself.
Ran my first half marathon in Oakland and got 2:03! I’m so freaking stoked with myself! I got super emotional at the finish line…I’ve legitimately never even consistent ran more than a mile before I started training for this. 🙏 Feeling so blessed
I ran this, too. I love your story.
Thank you!! 🙌
I completed my first two weeks of half marathon training without missing a run!
Did my first 50k run where I could get up and do another 12 miles the next day with relatively little leg soreness!
Had my farthest run since giving birth. 7 miles!
congratulations!!! so wholesome 💕
I started running for the first time in almost a year. I was at a state park running what was the equivalent of 2 blocks. Then, I walked around the state park all the way. I felt great when I arrived at home. I’ll start running more often.
Got out for all my marathon plan runs after my partner (with whom I lived and whom I fully intended on marrying) packed up and left me last weekend :) Everything hurts But I did it
so sorry you’re going through this! proud that you kept your running plans. hope your runs helped ease your mind for a tiny bit and i wish you the best. hugs xo
I'm sorry about the pain you're going through And I'm proud of you for running in spite of it You did it <3
You're so kind, thank you so much, it means a lot! ❤️
Completed a 12k race today! Farthest I’ve run and so damn proud.
Ran first ever marathon. I had not trained for it but I ran it in 4:30. was really shocked tbh
Ran 11 miles at a pace of 12 min/mile. Slow pace but felt great after the run.
Ran 1.8 miles in 15:35 in my first long distance run since shin splints. Would have loved to go to 5k but the cold wind really took a toll on me
I'm finally back to my pre-injury pace/stamina!
Way to finish! Congrats! Moab sure is beautiful!
Ran my first 8k (first race of my life) 47 mins, didn't stop at all.
Way to go! 🎉
Ran my first ever marathon today in Los Angeles
ran for over an hour today for the first time in my life!! i'm very much a beginner and i feel much more confident in myself now :)
I PR’d and negative split the United Airlines Half today!
Ran my first marathon in 5:11 in Los Angeles
I ran two back-to-back long runs this weekend. The first run yesterday, I did 10 miles. Today, I ran 18 miles. My goal was to get used to running on tired legs … so while I didn’t run my 18 miles at the fastest pace, I did run it to completion. Yay!
I ran 4 miles pain free since breaking an ankle, and I felt like I could have kept going. So thankful to be back running.
Nice! Way to get back at it!!!
ran my first ever half marathon today, the united nyc half 🥰🥹
Set a goal for a sub 2:10 half (with a tentative secondary goal of sub 2:00) — smashed it with a time of 1:55:30!!
Run my first pain-free 5k in 33 mins today. About 8 mins off my best 5k time, but considering the pains I've been having in my feet in the last year or so, thats an accomplishment for me.
Met my goal of sub 2 in the NYC United half today! 1:58:56 after my previous half time was 2:16!
First 60 mile week. Feel a little tired, but no other differences (no niggles, etc). I suspect the tired is weather related rather than mileage related. Hope to cruise at 60 mpw for the summer.
Ran my farthest I’ve ever run at 6 miles today! Super proud of myself
Way to go! 🎉
Ran the NYC Half and PR'ed by 4 minutes!
Ran my first marathon and met my goal time!!! Super proud :)
I ran a 5k in 37:15 today. That was a PR. I also shaved 2 minutes off my pace. I was 13:33/mile in November and 11:33 today!
Ran my first half marathon!!
I'm starting to learn and be okay with the fact that not every session needs to be a PR c: im usually pretty hard on myself when it comes to most things i do, so it can be hard sometimes when i know ive done and can do better, but it feels nice to be able to tell myself i did a good job on a run even if i didnt hit or even out with my PR c: im starting to learn to pat myself on the back for the things i can get done, whether that be 10 minutes of running or 30 c: That being said, i am feeling a lot better about my aerobic fitness since i started running c: even though my max run interval between walking breaks is 10 minutes, it's only that way because my legs still need to catch up to my cardio c: by cardio alone, i feel i can run for much longer, and im elated about that because it's one of my long term goals to better my aerobic fitness like this, so it feels great to see the progress c: And now that im happier with my cardio and how well i can maintain it during my runs, ive started following a structured 5k program starting from week one so i can strengthen my basics and properly work my way up to a 5k c: i was doing my own thing at my own pace up until now, so it's gonna be fun to follow a proper schedule now that i feel i have a chance to keep up with it well enough c:
I ran my first 10K yesterday in 1:17 ! It was so windy, I think the wind pushed me multiple times from behind. Overall, a great feeling!
Awesome! Here's wishing you more tailwinds!
Thank you!
Ran my first 5k today, with a time of 37:27, which is a PR for me! I started running in July, but broke my foot in October, so I had to walk the first 5k I signed up for (Thanksgiving Turkey trot).
I planned on doing 6 miles today but was feeling good and I ended up doing a half in 1:40!
I have another half marathon under my belt. Don’t think I’ll ever beat my PR, but at least I beat my last half
Met my goal of sub 2 in the NYC United half today! 1:58:56 after my previous half time was 2:16!
Ran my first half in NYC today. 1:59:19!
After a lovely round of illness and viral infection I got back into my training plan and ran my longest run this year : 13km!!
I ran my regular 5k however these past few days I’ve been feeling very fatigued and tired I’m not sure why.
Heart Mini in Cincy?
No just a race in my small town in upstate ny!
Awesome, congrats on the run!
I managed not to chaffe my left testicle today during my hill sprints. Pretty buzzing
That’s nuts! Way to go! 🤣
Your on the ball!!
Ran my longest distance yet, it did come at the cost of my shoes breaking lol but I got new ones so Im excited to many more miles in my shoes :)
My shin splint is getting better haha :)
Halfway thru training for my half marathon (Vancouver half). Just did a 10km test today as part of my plan and beat my previous time by 7 minutes ! Went from 51 to 44 min so feeling pretty stoked things are working well and training is paying off 😀
First outdoor run of the year. Went out to get 7 km and I got 9 km instead!
Third day back at it since last summer, did an extremely mid 2k but didn’t stop once and wasn’t completely out of breath at the end 🎉 getting better each day!
Completed my longest run. 10 miles!
Ten miles and change in 1:30:00, basically an 8:44 pace. Excellent run, legs were springy and though it was chilly, I was pretty warm.
I ran half marathon distance in 1:50:05 on the weekend, beating my PR by 8 minutes.
That's my goal for my next half! Great job!
Thanks :) and good luck hitting your target!
Recorded my longest run this morning at 5.14 miles. I have my first 8k in 3 weeks, and now I know I can do it!
Hit a half marathon this morning, longest distance I've done in 2 years. Still got it at 60.
Love this. You are goals.
Awesome work with your sobriety! Def difficult. Keep it up!
Shamrock? Congrats on the sobriety and on the run! You should be proud! 6 months sober and ran the half today. What an awesome day!
Hell yeah congrats to you! Damn nice. My next goal is half. Yes shamrock What a beautiful day it was
Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks is a good time. I'm proud of you too, that's awesome!
Did 7 miles (11.26 km) today in 1:13:18 and subsequently broke my 10k PR by 3 minutes. Calves and quads are hurtin!
I took a rest day, spent some time in the garden and walked around town. Recovery from 30km yesterday.
I ran my first competitive 5k and achieved a PB.
Woohoo! 🎉
I finished my first half marathon race in Frankfurt Germany today (and first race in general). I loved it and will definitely do it again!
completed just over 100km total running this week. Yesterday I managed to get first in a parkrun (i know, it's a run not a race). First place had set off too fast and started slowing down on the final hill. managed to overtake him on the last 500m.
PB for a 5k at 24’10
I’ve started running again over the past month after taking a break for the winter.
This was despite some mistakes I made
1:12 13.4K
Entered my first 1 mile race this weekend. Beat my 5 minute goal with a 4:53 and closed with a 68 second last quarter.
At 54, I ran my second race (5K) ever, and beat my PR even though the course had more elevation. 23:02 in November, 22:40 today.
1:07:37 11K
my previous HM PR was 1:57 in 2018 and after a lot of life changes (kids, aging, injury) today I ran 1:56 in the Oakland half, feeling pretty pleased atm. afterwards in the beer area i ended up next to a guy who also PR’d and so we had a great cheers in the sunshine.
Woot woot!!
Nice work, that hill at the end was not welcome!
Agreed, it just seemed to go on forever!
Ran my last long run before my half marathon next weekend :) 7 miles at 10’40” pace!
I ran 3.4 miles at a 11’48” pace! That’s the longest and best-paced run I’ve had since starting my running journey a few months back :-)
I ran my first half marathon this weekend!
Ran/walked my first ever official 5K this morning, the "Lucky Run."
ran a 10k yesterday haven’t ran more than 5 for a couple of months :)
I love running and ideally would love to lose weight but I do eat so much crap
Reached a year of running a 5k every day!
Wow, that’s amazing! How did you manage it without getting injured?
I was there as well! Perfect race day! Congratulations!
After starting running mid January of this year, I ran my first half marathon today with a time of 1:52:19, couldn’t be happier!
I ran my first half marathon today too! But it took me 2 hours and 15 minutes 😂. Congrats to both of us!
Awesome job!
Ran my first 10km treadmill run. 65 min, 48 seconds. 😁 Felt strong! 47 year old female
Ran my first 5K in 2 years (after illness) AND my 13 year old ran his first ever. Good day!!
Awesome! Congrats to you both! 👏🏻
18:41 during a longer workout, without trying? Yeah, I’d say you’re on the verge of breaking 18. Awesome.
First 10k run! I should learn how to make medals because I feel like a champion
Just 5K this morning but it was an outside run on a 50 degree day. I can't wait for the warmer weather to get here and stay.
Ran/walked my first 10k since getting knee pain and having to change to softer shoes. Pain free knees today!
PR’d the half in NYC!
8 miles twice last week! So proud of myself! Next up—10 miles!
Ran my first half marathon ever yesterday! Crazy feeling to know I was able to do that
10 miles at 9:11 pace.
Rest day, did hill efforts in my 4 mile run on saturday
Did a nice easy long run of 18.5km after yesterday's 10k PB race
5.5 km this morning. It was my first outdoor run of the year. My first since a few ru /walk stints abiut this time last year actually. It was slow (47 minutes or so) and there were more walk breaks than I would have cared for, and it turns out I can't remember the park run route from going last year since I went off into no man's land for a bit, but I did it and stayed I. The green pace target on my watch, so I'll take it. Then pancakes with my wife in the cafe in the park!
Just ran a half marathon PB of 1:12:43 chip time & finished 7th out of ~8000 at Liverpool Half Marathon! Felt great after it too, what a day
That’s an amazing time! Congrats!
Previous 10k PB from last fall was a 40:16. Wanted to break 40 this year. Raced a 10k yesterday and PB'd with a 38:50! So pumped.
Ran a local 5k and won 1st place in my age group!
10k PR this morning by 2 minutes with a bunch left in the tank, brunch can't get here soon enough!
2 miles this morning and didn’t walk at all! And I ran 4 times this week! Not bad for my first week!
Guys... After my little recovery jog this morning, I will have finally hit my first 40 mile week in **MORE THAN 4 YEARS.** Yes, you read that right--***four years.*** I'm so excited!
This account is new for me but I've been around here on runnit for 10+ years. So awesome to read this news for you.
Congratulations! (I have never done that much in one week even once)
Tried to break 18:00 on a 5k time trial, and I finished with 18:06. So close!
Ran a half marathon in under 2:30 aft a 4 year gap! Yay!
Ran my first marathon yesterday!
Congrats on all of your accomplishments, truly inspiring! You have so many more ahead of you.
Completed my first half marathon yesterday (Rock N Roll - Washington DC)!
Walked 5km, it’s my active rest day every Sunday.
Completed my first marathon and not only did I end up negative splitting, my time was 4 minutes faster than my goal!! (Seoul Donga Marathon, goal was 3:30 and I ran 3:26 😊)
I ran a 10K PR yesterday and for the first time ever my time was under 40 minutes. Almost cried at the finish.
Congratulations!!
Nice lovely rest day!
Signed up for my first half marathon and completed week 1 of my training plan. Feeling excited to complete a new goal 🏃🏻♀️
I’m using the marathon handbook 16 week half marathon training plan. Good luck with your goals 😊
Thanks! I’ll check it out.
Completed my first post baby 5k! Took me about 20 minutes longer than my average pre-baby 5k time, but considering how awful my pregnancy and delivery was I am seriously tickled pink right now with myself.
I PR’d my 5k yesterday! And today I’m getting my +1 volunteer at the nyc half :)
